Because it’s very obvious design wise it’s not that different from the iPhone 13?

And it’s comfortable in one hand. I merely mentioned this ability since everything else I lack in comparison. I mean, I can barely do one push up.
And if you actually read my original posts and others after it you'd realize I am using a base iPhone 12. I have never used a Pro model. And now I have actually tested the 13 Pro Max and tested a 14 Pro Max and the camera bump is barely acceptable on the 13 Pro Max but on the 14 Pro Max it's not.

Don’t need to because the iPhone 13 Pro Max has been out for awhile now. Wouldn’t be too hard to have dropped in prior to the preorder of iPhone PM 14, and the 12 base vs 12 pro max is obviously very different but I’m betting 12 pro max and 14 pro max aren’t either…

I’ve owned every phone since 3, with the exception of 12 pro max (really loved the 11 pro max green) and the edges you speak of, etc etc all were present on the 12 pro max.

The iPhone 12 is a great phone, but so is the 14 Pro. I'm coming from the XR and the weight difference vs the 14 Pro is negligible. Size wise in hand with a case on, they feel about the same to me. Haven't thought once about the size of the cameras either because the image quality is so spectacular.

I sold my 14 pro for a very small profit figuring why return a perfectly good phone when Apple can’t meet the launch demand.

At the end of the day I was most impressed by the build quality, display, and processor speed. The camera takes fantastic high quality photos and I’m sure the video would be equally impressive. The cons were unit weight, haptic touch (yes I know I’m in the vocal minority who loves 3D Touch), and the discomfort of one handed use on a device using flat sides combined with a 6.1 inch display.

My Xs still does everything I need it to do and more via jailbreak. Will be a sad day when I retire this iPhone!

Ok.

When will 16.0.1 be available for the 13s?
Because it’s a bug fix release for the 14s, I don’t think it is coming to the 13s. Apple pretty seriously bungled a lot of things surrounding iOS 16 and it’s release…

Maybe there will be a 16.0.2, or maybe people will have to wait for 16.1 to downgrade (without using beta)

Thanks for the insight.

Can anybody chime in who has an iPhone 11 Pro Max? They aren't 5G phones... is the data just too slow or are they good and can you FaceTime well over data?

I've actually just put an order in tonight with Apple for a refurbished iPhone 11 Pro Max as I'm at my wits end here and realize that this is the best design for what I like and this would be the absolute latest and best of what I can get in this design language.

Lol well no wonder my comment got laughs. I just do what my phone tells me - don't really know what all those pesky details mean. :)

Thanks for clarifying.

Now whose not reading whose posts?

I said it’s not that much different, and you can see the specs, so obviously figure out the camera on the iPhone 14 pro max is bigger then the 13 pro max for example and if you say the 13 pro max camera was barely acceptable then 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Ps I have the iPhone pro max 11. Gave one to my friend cos his phone broke. No issues on 5g.

My point is I cannot know whether I can deal with a camera bump that large unless I try it. Obviously we the iPhone 14 Pro Max is unique in this respect and as a strictly Apple User, this is the biggest camera bump ever. Looking at pictures and actually physically testing something are two entirely different things...

On the iPhone Pro Max 11, my question is... does the data speed seem slow compared to 5G iPhones which started from iPhone 12 onward? Because my understanding is that it does not do 5G.

I'm not sure why people go crazy about the camera bump. Larger lenses are needed for more light. More light is needed for better pictures. That's why real cameras have much bigger lenses than phone cameras. A phone just makes up for the deficiency with image processing.

Most people's phones are in a case. A case makes this less or not at a problem when it comes to wobble on a hard surface. I don't type with it on the desk but I just put my 14 PM on the desk without my MagSafe wallet attached and no wobble at all.

I don't even see the camera bump when using the phone but maybe some people worry about what others will think because that's the side they see. I can understand this since style is relative. I think it looks cool with the white and silver but that's kind of depending on the person looking. I'm no style expert and others might think it's ugly.

I'm hoping the 15 PM has an even bigger camera bump with it's periscope lenses. The camera is a major factor when it comes to my purchase decision. Perhaps they need to work on making the camera bump smaller on the regular iPhone for people who don't really take many pictures so don't need the powerful cameras.

(Slightly off topic: Highly recommended! I stopped at XS max, and from then on it has felt great to squeeze the most out of that machine, ideally till it disintegrates. Then on to the then current generation … until it falls apart.)
The XS Max was a good phone! I still have mine as a backup iPhone. Honestly if you're happy with the battery life and don't need or want camera upgrades keep it. I mean battery life by the new battery life not if your battery has degraded. $69 at the Apple Store gets you a new battery and that's much cheaper than any new iPhone.

If you can accept these then don’t return the phone 14 pro/max:

-Always On Display really turn on your screen normally 24 hours a day everyday, it is not like android phone with simple graphic and turn off most of the screen. Just for showing nice picture to sell you the iphone. Your battery and display panel should die much faster than you can imagine. Battery is much more expensive than old models.

-New pill is much lower than old notch. The effective area under the pill is much smaller than all old iphone models

-All kinds of camera issues like more noise than 13 pro. It is a new sensor and a lot of new stuff, this is more like a beta version of pro 15.

-Price, you paid already then may not not a big deal

I didn’t think I’d ever say this but I miss Jony Ive, I appreciate the gains we made but man have all product lines taken a huge hit aesthetically/comfort - from the iPhone to the Macs, to the watch and even the iPads. The older generations of the products look and feel better to use - and I am sure he could have made the Apple Watch ultra less ugly (we have many large good looking watches on the market).

What are you people complaing about, comming from a iPhone 13 Pro to 14 Pro and the phone feels heavier ... a bigger ... what have you seen the spec or just i can write anything so ill write it.

Spec of iPhone 13 Pro
Width: 71,5 mm
Height: 146,7 mm
Depth: 7,65 mm
Weight: 203 g

and spec of iPhone 14 Pro
Width: 71,5 mm
Height: 147,5 mm
Depth: 7,85 mm
Weight: 206 g

if you can feel and see the difference then we dont need any measurements becase a lot of you can be uset as Wheaights and rules if you can "feel" the 0,8mm in height and 3g in Weight 🙃

Well what should i say, im comming from an iPhone 11 Pro .... the iPhone 14 Pro is HUUUGE, and the cameras ... but if you want better pictures ... then what, you NEEEDD MORE LIGHT ... and that means what ... BIGGER Lenses, and this is the trend the Phone Industry is going ...

Just remember the Phone with 30 or 40 lenses on the Back .... that was Crazy this is just an evolution

Photos are barley indistinguishable though. That's the problem. *Unless you shoot ProRaw and edit each one individually.

Verizon 5G is pretty spectacular where I live. It’s well worth the upgrade to a 5GUWB capable phone if you can swing it.

Returned mine.

Coming from an 11pro there's basically no improvement in the camera department in real-life usage. I've been waiting 3 years.

ProRaw is actually very good but Apple are still insistent on the over-processed noise reduction and sharpening which destroys JPEGS. Will return if they figure out how to get usable JPEGs from the new sensor. Definitely a software issue.

As ever, Apple over-promised and under-delivered.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and with 4G+ the data is too fast, not need 5G, in fact I don´t feel difference between my wifi6 and the mobile data.

You have made a good purchase, if I buy the 14 pro max is only for the 2000 nits, in Valencia in Spain we have a loot of sun, and sometimes when I use to see netflix for example, the brightness not is enought in dark scenes.

Another 11PM user here. I was going to preorder, but decided to wait until threads like these started. Now I don’t know if I’m going to upgrade or not. I haven’t physically seen/held the 14PM yet so that may be the deciding factor. My 11PM still works just fine and takes great pictures.

Still on the fence.

These phones aren't made for people who actually need to carry them around in standard pants. No one in my office uses them (many have the smallest phones possible).

Men cannot fit these phones comfortably in their pants. Women can put them in purses, but I've heard more than a few complain about how uncomfortable they are even to hold! The square edges cut into your hands. It's noticeable, especially because of how heavy they are.

Steve Jobs has definitely left the building. There are evidently lots of bobblehead "yes" people at Apple just picking up paychecks and never saying no to stupid ideas that flow from managers. We've all seen this behavior before.

I am a guy and I have a 14 pro max and it fits in my normal every jean pockets fine. It also fits in my work slacks fine as well. Also, when people talk about the weight of the phone, it's implied the phone is like a brick or gym weight. Maybe it's just me but the weight doesn't bother me or make it uncomfortable to use at all. I had an 11 pro max before upgrading. I also have big hands so maybe that is a factor as well.

If you don't like big phones that totally fine but making broad statements as it applies to everyone is weird.
