Thank you for the update! I want to make sure i follow you and am clear...I have the 3GS 3.1.3 old bootrom, but no prior SHSH file.
I am JB and Unlocked.
Upgrage to newest OS with itunes, run the jailbreakme website, and then and the ultrasn0w and i am g2g?
Since i am upgrading the OS will that replace all the JB programs and settings i have? If it will, what is your recommendation i know i have spent alot of time setting it up the way i have it...

I assume youre not finished updating the OP? If you are, you need to update the text throughout. Also, you might want to update the flowchart to include iPhone 4.

See red. Also the 2nd 3 needs to be a 4. I thought you were saying the iPhone 4 was able to be jailbroken, but then I noticed what happened. I dont know how I missed it before, but I was scanning, I guess.
hello. i'm a newb to jailbreaking, so i apologize in advance.
i have a iP4 on 4.0.1. i've gone through the back up, then headed over to jailbreakme.com.
when i try to open and load cydia, it'll time out and won't load. i eventually get a 504 gateway time-out error.
any help would be appreciated.

Due to the high demand of this jailbreak, Cydia and Rock are running slowly due to the high traffic. Keep trying and it should eventually load. You can also just wait a day or two for the initial hype to lessen.

Welcome to jailbreaking. Youll find the repos have errors everyday, depending on which one is down that day.
Looks good. Thanks as this should reduce questions. It would be nice if theyd make it a sticky, but Ive asked enough, the mods obviously disagree for whatever reason.
Perhaps, you could clear up a question I have about Comex. This is not the Dev Team is it? Or is this all were going to get for a JB in the near future? I see this being plugged in a week or so.

Comex is a Dev-Team member, and he had help from other Dev-Team members, but this is an independent release. I think this is mainly so that he can accept donations while the Dev-Team maintains its independence. As far as I know the Dev-Team are not planning a release for the iPhone 4 until they can find an exploit to pwn the bootloader.

Depends on what you mean by keep trying. Wait a few hours and then try. Don’t do the constant checking over and over that some do on here.
Yeah, this is the JB I wanted. Do they have ideas on what to do and aren’t ready, or does no one know?

The web-based one will be plugged soon, I would think. You won’t be able to use it for any further revisions of iOS 4.
You’re at the right place already. Look for threads created by thelatinist. That’s a good start. The stickies might also help, but they’re dated. FYI, the most experienced JB’ers are thelatinist, dhlizard, applejuiced, pixelated and jav6454 (I might have left a few off).

Nvrmnd. Figured it out.
I haven't heard that anyone has found bootrom exploit on the iPhone 4, so who knows how long it would be. I certainly wouldn't wait for it if I had an iPhone 4. It's not like you won't be able to switch over to a pwnage-style jailbreak if one becomes available.
And, no, I won't be buying my iPhone 4 until February; I may even wait for the next model.
I'm not entirely sure but I think if you backup your iPhone when it's jailbroken and restore from that backup they'll know.
