Everything is the same.So did the baseband change with the official release or is it the same as the GM??
I know the build number is the same so im praying they left everything alone
to make a donation to the Dev Team for a 4.0 jailbreak.
Probably won't be long now.
Ka-ching! And they deserve it.![]()
Tried forced reboot, and restore in recovery mode and it didnt work.
Tried putting it into DFU mode and restore and the same error message came up.
and i also tried it in a different USB port, with the same results.
Its not looking good. Also i never restored before trying to upgrade i just done it when the phone was still jailbroken as i thought it would be ok as i seem to rememeber upgrading when i it had been jailbroken before.
Any more ideas guys?
Sorry to be a pain
Cheers
J
Everything is the same.
The GM build is the same as what was released today.
I haven't found any differences between them.
Build number and firmware version are identical.
Jailbreaking has nothing to do with the baseband.
If your iPhone is already jailbroken, why would you do it again? Spirit is the only JB tool that doesn't work with iTunes 9.2. Wait for a Dev Team release.
Had same problem and followed your advice. Here are the results:WOW, not good news. Try to backup your itunes library, delete and install iTunes 9.1.1:
http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
One installed try to restore to 3.1.3 then upgrade itunes, overwrite your itunes library with the backup and stock 3.1.3 on the phone. Then you should be fine to go for 4.0
Or, If you have another computer try installing iTunes 9.1.1 and restore 3.1.3 from that computer.
Sounds like the problem is in iTunes 9.2 Let us know the results.
Like I said, wait for a Dev Team release of jailbreaking tools.well i meant that i have itunes 9.2 and would like to JB the ios 4 , so is there a way i can do that, or should i still wait for an ios 4 JB from somone.
Hi!
I'm planning to sell my iPhone 3G which has a 3.1.3. I want to sell it unlock to increase its value.
Should I hold off the upgrade to iOS4 and wait for the 3.1.3 unlock or go ahead and upgrade and wait for the iOS4 unlock? Which one is planned to happen first?
Had same problem and followed your advice. Here are the results:
Grabbed my PC laptop which had iTunes 9.0, it prompted me to update to 3.1.3 (phew) which it was able to do, no problems. Back to my macbook which already had iTunes 9.2 installed (i know, i know...) and from there, successfully updated to 4.0.
Thank you for the advice!!!
Same situation for me. I plan to sell mine, so should I wait until I plan to sell it and:
Delete all info (through settings)
restore and update as new to 4.0
then jailbreak/unlock
Or is there a different order I should go by?
Great to know this solved your problem. What caused the problem in the first place? Trying to update / restore or trying to jailbreak?
I had simply tried to update from my jailbroken 3.1.2 to 4.0. It went through the process as normal until the actual installing of 4.0 on my iPhone. It erred out saying there was a problem with the install and I would have to Restore.
At that point, even though it showed to be installing, the progress bar on my iPhone never moved - for over 35 minutes. I tried to force restore to 3.1.2 but iTunes said it wasn't authorized to upgrade to that version.
I wasn't worried about losing my jailbreak. I only used it for tethering. Plus, I had confidence that 4.0 would be jailbroken quickly - guess i was right! ^_^ And i really want to use the new iBook store app.
yeah man i am having the same conundrum. does anyone have a good solution? my guess is to wait for ios 4 JB and then sell it.
Ok, from what I have read, I should go ahead and:
update to 4.0 (and backup in preperation for new phone)
Get new phone on July 2-8
delete all settings/content
activate as new, jailbreak/unlock
profit!
Anybody see a problem with this?
