Is there anyone here that's still using Crystal? Want some opinion on its performance aside from the upcoming acceptable ads incident/update. I personally really like its performance so far however, there are some websites I visit that it blocks videos on and they aren't ads either. They're news sites like CBC.ca and they have videos on the article and it blocks it. Aside from that, I am very satisfied with Crystal's performance. It's based in the UK (the developer) so I was wondering if anyone else outside of the UK like myself have these types of issues. Some times it does also block scripts (I think that's what they're called) that would be undesirable to block, however, it's not that big of an issue. Thoughts on Crystal?

I'm still using Crystal. I have been since the beginning. I tried Focus, but Crystal does a better job of blocking ads. I like it, and it works well for me.
I also like Crystal's simplicity, but I'm not one to keep switching and comparing all of the content blockers.

i am using Adguard now. its awesome, i tried 4 other adblockers before but they all stopped working on a certain site i use frequently plus its the first one that leaves the adblocker undetected from the news site i am using

I'm very upset by ad blockers ... Magic is showing a different behavior on my iPhone and on my iPad on the same website ...

Websites can detect what device you are using and loads a slightly different page, so that's why you see different behavior on iPhone and iPad.

Does anyone know of (or if) a content blocker that works with the Google App? The spam is making it almost unusable but it's convenient not to have to jump out into Safari all the time.

The blockers only work on Safari and the Safari web view component in apps that use it. I don't think Google (an ad company) will ever allow that (so they don't use the Safari web view within their apps).

Okay then, Safari with a shortcut to Google's home page it is. Thanks!

I think the pull-down spotlight search in iOS uses (or can be configured to use) google too? Saves a shortcut and a tap.

But if you mean Google Now or some specialized website then the shortcut is the only way.
I find myself on the Google app and News app quite a lot, browsing news it thinks I'm interested in. So unfortunately we all have to endure the pop-up/full-screen ads.

I know, but a completely different behavior is very strange....

Just avoid any Google apps and you will halve the spam...

Magic just seems to work for me. Not interested in switching apps all the time. Overall is constantly delivers.

I don't think the problem is in Google being an ad company. Anyways, all third party browsers already use Safari-based component (UIWebView) due to Apple restrictions.

The problem with new SafariViewController component is that you loose control of a lot of things if you use it. It is more like an embedded Safari, not just a web view.

Thankfully, Sidefari now lets me bring up safari view controller in any app, even if they don't support it. *Glares at Facebook and twitter*

Thanks for sharing Sidefari. Now I can use the Google app and Google News app, do the extra two taps, and read the articles ad-free! The extra two taps is way better than pages stuttering because of the big ads, or ads trying their best to hide the X button.

No idea why but Adguard breaks almost all videos on the sites I visit.
Any recommandations on which fileter I should enable to have the best experience with Adguard?
Thanks

@Sparxxx idevice.ro - fixed, filter updates will be available in 10 minutes.
First two - we can't reproduce it with default filters set.
Which filters do you use?

Not sure exactly which ones are default filter but I have the following enabled:
English filter
Spyware filter
German filter
Mobile ads filter
Safari filter
EasyList
EasyList Germany
ROList
Easyprivacy
Fanboys Annoyances
Fanboys Enhanced Tracking List
Adblock Warning Removal List
Malware Domains
Prebake
Spam404
Anti-Adblock Killer Reek

Do they provide some benefit over the defaults or should I just keep the defaults?

Cool, thanks!
PS: on 20min.ch also the picture slides in the news are broken:(
