Which app did you use to view the source and how to identify specific html elements to hide (google analytics and similar things)?
It's called View Source: https://appsto.re/us/hgMS2.i

I just know where to look in the code I guess? I've been doing it since I was 12 and now I'm a web and app UI/UX designer who also does development so I guess I just know it. If you use Chrome, Safari or Firefox on the desktop you can right click on HTML elements and use the web inspector to see what it is. You can match up the holes to where things are on the screen. That would probably be easier. For most people. Alternatively you can search for text in close proximity to the "hole" or other element in the view source on your iOS decide and you should be able to see a div tag or similar wrapped around some ad-looking code. The ads are still there in code just not downloaded and rendered to the page. Grab the class (put a period in front of the name) or the id (but a pound/hash in front of the name) and separate them with commas in the blocker. That part is standard CSS naming and listing for styles that apply to all. The blocker probably applies "display: none;" and "visibility: hidden;" to those elements. Or maybe just removes them from the DOM entirely. I haven't looked into the details.

I'm struggling to work out which is the 'best' blocker for me. I've tried Crystal, and that was fine. I've tried Purify, and that was fine, although I needed to whitelist a site that stopped working (which is either a pain or shows better blocking, depending on your view). On the only site that really bugs me Crystal stopped the ads but not the cookie warning popup, Purify blocked the cookie warning popup but not the ads.

I can't tell any noticeable difference in page loading speed or ad removal with either of these.

I think at these early stages it's a bit hit and miss. I think this is why some are using two contents blockers simultaneously.

Do we need to leave the content blocker app open in multi tasking does anyone know.

I've allowed Background Refresh permissions for them.

How come some of the newly released apps get 17+ rating on the appstore with only a few reviews or none at all?
Does the user assign a rating to the app or can a developer choose 17+ while launching the app?
Seems like this content blocker space is getting crowded with many more apps.

That is a rating that relates to the age group that the app would be appropriate for based on what it can do and some other factors. It's not a rating that relates to the quality of the app or what users provide.

Purify does not block many of the ads on Bulgarian's sites. It does not remove / block the like / share buttons from Facebook, tweeter etc

I leave them closed and with Background App Refresh disabled. My understanding (at least for Crystal) was that it's only needed to update blocking lists, and occasionally opening the app will have the same effect.

shall I turn OFF the default Fraudulent Website Warning if I have 3rd party content blockers ON? And is it a good idea to have more then 1 content blocker ON at the same time (ex. Purify and Blockr ro Crystal)

For Silentium, quite a few websites can't load for me in Singapore. White listed but with advance turn On for social media buttons.

Purify fell to rank No. 7 in App Store. I guess he gave a discount to increase sales (and improve his ranking).

Now at 1 dollar, I decided to buy it. It's a steal.

If you return any app you'll be blacklisted by Apple for about 6 month/a year and won't be able to return any more... You'll have to waive the right to return for every purchase during that period, it sucks!

I also bought purify after being discounted... but I have to say, out of all the free and even paid ones, AdMop has been one of the few where the developer actually updated the block rules after reporting sites to them within hours. For people looking for a free solution, you should give that app another chance!
