It was a 5 star app.. before the dev created a conflict of interests.

Unfortunate for Crystal however completely self inflicted. Developer was apparently not happy being the #1 paid app and decided to try making even more money. Advertisers only wanted to pay for sponsored ads because the app was #1. Now the app is crashing in the ratings and Eyeo (working w/advertisers) won't care to pay money to have a faltering app keep sneaking in their ads. Heck now the absolute first thing on the Murphy Apps website for an ad blocker is a banner telling the users how sponsored ads are totally cool. Don't worry everyone he did a survey!

This is a good cautionary tale for how quickly you can screw up a good thing on mobile platforms.

Apple is processing a refund for Crystal
The developer's argument that it is optional op-out is malarkey. Set on by default

With your app, I don't see sponsored ads or adsense on Yahoo. However, on iPad Air, I see both.
Yahoo doesn't show an ad under the carousel for me, I think it's something regional. But I've made something that, I think, would remove that ad. Please re-enable Essentials within the app and post your results.

I told you people long time ago that anyone selling an adblocker is full of ****. Scum of the earth.
And in my opinion, your comment is a bunch of crap.

A developer who creates an app to help fill a niche demand etc. is a developer that is participating in free enterprise. There is nothing inherently wrong with someone who creates a product and seeks to derive an income from his or her knowledge and labor. The problem enters into the equation when a developer engages in unethical behavior in regards to his or her product.

A paid adblocker is unethical. You can ask for a donation on your website if you want, but not sell it.

There is nothing unethical (in and of itself) about selling an ad-blocker on the app store.

Just because you don't think someone should get paid for their product, doesn't mean that said developer is unethical.

1. Developer creates an ad-blocker
2. Developer correctly explains the purpose and abilities of the app.
3. Developer clearly states the price of the app.
4. Developer answers questions about said product.
5. Developer markets the app and leaves it to the free-market as to whether or not his app does well and turns a profit.

There are many developers in the app store engaging in the aforementioned business model, and there is nothing unethical about it.

iPad Air is good now. iPhone still shows sponsored ads and what appears to be an adsense or adchoice ad underneath news carousel.

This could turn into a cat-and-mouse game. Today you fine tune blocking rules-works well-tomorrow the website makes server side changes rendering those rules ineffective, and the ads are back again. Wonder how it will play out...

In this case you should block .adlink and .ad-link-icon using CSS blocking rules.
BTW, made the big Essentials list update for Ad Block Multi and successfully getting rid of yahoo sponsored articles and more AdChoices on some sites.

I think we will see more mutating or random classes/ids for ads in the future. It's not too hard to implement that server-side. More challenges for ad blocking software.

The app is on the App Store and rules are updated remotely, no need to participate in any beta-tests.

This is another developer that will help. I've been going back and forth with him on Facebook messenger to help improve his app. He wants to help.

If someone is thinking about investing in an app, this is another to consider.

What's odd is, under Air 2 all good with Ad Block Multi. Under 6+, I see everything. Just weird.

Why unethical - I want a service and I am willing to pay for it. I don't want any ads - they are ruining the whole experience. Now we need ad blockers that work in apps since they are worse - some wanting us to buy apps we already have.
The concept of Google or Facebook making money off of me is outrageous if I don't want them to. Allowing companies to bypass ad blocking is unethical.

Please try refreshing inside the app again. It should eliminate that ad underneath the carousel. Can't help with sponsored ads for now, though. Just can't spot them on any of my devices.
