Scrolling on Webpages

Here is a good iPad and iPad 2 tip: Having scrolled down a long page, quickly get back to the top by tapping the clock display on the iPad’s Status Bar at the top! Try it and you will be amazed that you never knew this tid-bit of information!:)

I thought I knew at least most of the tricks of the ipad, but I learned a bunch more reading this thread. Thanks to all that contributed, very helpful.

Turn off the auto Rotation and you will have little extra using time! (about 1,5 hour more, from my experiment)

As well as swiping up on the exclamation mark, comma mark to get an apostrophe you can also swipe up on the question mark, full stop key to get quotation marks.

This goes for iPhones as well.

When taking pictures with the camera, hold the camera button until you are ready to take the picture. It works much better than tapping the camera button and hoping a good image comes out.

*(This will probably be null once iOS 5 adds volume up as the shutter)

home button shortcuts

on the ipad2 I can hit the home button to access:
click it once: shortcut to "Search"
double click: shortcut to recently used apps

Folders for apps

Because I have a lot of apps, one thing I've found handy is using folders. To create a folder, drag one app directly on top of another. You'll see a folder created containing both apps. You can edit the name of the folder. I shove a bunch of similar apps in a folder rather than having them take up screen space.

Safari scrolling

You can do a page-down scrolling by double tap on the lower edge of the screen. The first double tap is to zoom the page. The next ones will do the scrolling

Try organizing the pages in itunes

I've got 8 screens set up and have different categories for each (Games, Productivity, Entertainment, Utilities, etc.....). I found out how to get the extra screens by accident. When you move a app icon to the last screen, just continue sliding it to right edge, hold it there, and viola, a new screen appears! It really helps in keeping the apps organized.

If you go to apps in the iPad menu while you're syncing with you iMac, you can easily manipulate the position of apps by dragging and dropping

why cant i mirror on ipad2 with apple tv

is this the most exciting thing ive seen about ios 5 is it posable to do without ios 5???

Just noticed this with ios5, when the keyboard appears in any app you can press and hold the button that makes the keyboard slide down and you have the option to either split the keyboard (which I knew about) but you can also "undock" the keyboard and it will spring up into the middle of the screen. I'm not entirely sure what situation this would be suitable for but I just thought I would share this little trick :)

Screen glare eliminated

I use Glad Press n Seal (yes, the kind you usually use to cover bowls of food) on my iPad screen. It eliminate glare in sun and bright light and you can read and work though it, including typing and using the touch screen. And it's cheap and re-usable.

Good tip...a little better idea is to find egrip. http://www.egrips.com/

I bought like 10 packages on bay for dirt cheap. They are the BEST for this. I made a squre on the back of mine with long grips...so regardless of my orientation, my finger tips are in the right place. I was exchanging my pad...but passed my 14 days...so I plan to stick the rest of the package in key places. Even as it is, I can almost hold my pad vertical from the back. And when I stick the pad down on a surface it doesn't budge.

I have been thinking about putting some grips on the FRONT of the screen...in the corners. Anybody try this yet?

We used some very soft poly "tape" in sheet form with a pebbled surface. I created a nice design and used a Desktop Craft Cutter to cut the material. Avoided the costly decorative graphics sold on the Internet and made gripping fun.

I know about eGrips. At there web site you can see examples of what I am talking about. Same general idea.

Your local craft store might be able to cut the materials for you.

Perhaps a tad too much for some people, Rather too much bother perhaps.

So try this: Skateboard grip material. Lots of choices out there.

How could this be?

Turning off auto-rotate is supposed to conserve battery life because the iPad doesn't have to use the processor for this function. 1.5 hours sounds very optimistic, but I have not tested it myself.

You can also conserve battery by turning off wifi, bluetooth, 3G, data push, location services, and dimming the screen. This is optimizing use. Other conservation tips include using/keeping it in a cool place.

It's so if your holding with both hands your able to type using your thumbs.

Setting>Accessibility>Triple-click Home>(Click any option, in this case I'll be using 'Toggle White on Black'.) Click 'Toggle Black on White'.> Now, triple click your home button fast.
