Does anyone else have keyboard sounds on and find the phone just randomly decides when it wants to output them or not?

On every single iPhone I’ve owned this has been an issue. Sometimes the keyboard plays the sound, other times it doesn’t. It often doesn’t in third party apps, but just very frustrating.

Side note, I’ve never owned a phone with battery life this good. It’s insane.
It’s also nice to use a phone that doesn’t get toasty warm at times. 🤭 bloody SnapDragon chips!

I gotta say I am really enjoying the AW Ultra and 14 PM Thanos combo right now.
Same, except the Space Black 14 PM

Watch Ultra is amazing. Battery life is pretty close to my Watch5 Pro. The screen looks great and is really bright when outdoors. I am a pretty big dude with large arms and wrists so the big size of the watch actually fits me just right.

yeah it's great and I think many will buy it for those improvements. my series 7 barely lasted 16 hours.
Here lately on my series 7 I could literally watch the battery percentage drop.

The ultra battery should be standard on the Apple watch lineup. If samsung can get good battery life without making their watch ridiculously huge, no reason Apple cant make a normal sized watch with decent battery life.

Add me to the camp enjoying the iPhone.
Impressed with it. I even tried on a watch ultra as my sister got one to replace her series 5. She’s obsessed with her Apple Watch.

I have the SMALLEST wrists. It looks… bad on me hahaha. But it’s a nice watch. Looks good on her she has bigger wrists. 😳

I’m used to a series 3, 38 mm is it? The small one. This feels ginormous in comparison but it’s a nice screen.

I don't think it's a bad copy. I just personally think iPhone cameras are not very good.
They're quick to snap, which is a plus, but the actual output I have always found extremely lacking. Same with portrait photos. Nowhere near as good as the competition.

So far, the 3 things I was looking forward to trying were:
New camera sensor - fail.
Haptics on keyboard (at last) - major fail.
AoD - it's ok, but literally just a dimmed down Lock Screen.

I also still don't like Apple's take on notifications. Android has always had it nailed.

I've had my 6 Pro turned off since the iPhone came and I am desperately missing it and Android.
I'll give it the weekend and see.
I disagree with your comment about the iPhone cameras not being good. I still have (yes I am a phone *****) many devices dating back to the iPhone X. The color reproduction between those devices has always been better and closer to my SLR / Mirrorless cameras than my Pixel devices have been.

Additonally, the Pixels tend to over-sharpen, and oversaturate in more situations than on the iPhone. That said, As a general consumer camera, I tend to feel the pictures that come out of the Pixel line are generally more pleasing to the eye (for the general public) than the iPhone.

Be advised that my observations are based on my having primarily shot RAW for the past decade, and liking a good baseline for me to edit in my taste for color and sharpness. I don’t want the camera dictating that for me.

I also prefer driving manual transmission cars with a Clutch too, so I guess I am a full time manual guy ;) .

That’s cool. We’re not all meant to like the same things.

Of course if you shoot manual you’re going to get the result you favour. But any phone will do that if you spend time tinkering with the output. Most people just want a point and shoot camera that delivers and i find the Pixel delivers over the iPhone in practically all scenarios.

The sample photo I uploaded a few pages back from my 14 PM was a bad photo. Would the Pixel have given that output? Doubtful, to me. And I’d take over-sharpened over a blown out mess which is what I got there. No amount of post tinkering will save that! There’s been plenty of tech guy tweets about the same thing happening too. I guess it’s just an iPhone thing.
Thankfully, enabling RAW gives pleasing photos but they can’t be shared very easily due to the file sizes.
I may look to download an app someone recommended that allows you to take a 48mp photo but keeps it JPEG.

Yeah I haven’t experienced the luck you have with the iPhone. I point and shoot with the iPhone (and pixel) and post or use the shot that came from the device without touching a thing. In the rare event I do need to edit, I prefer the iPhones shots and exposures over that of the Pixel, but not by any type of landslide.

One thing I do always take time with, before taking a shot with either of my devices, is touch where I want focus and exposure to be set. I should try skipping that and see if one is better than the other with overall focus, exposure and sharpness when it decides what focus on.

That could be the difference in both of our experiences. I never trust any camera to know what I am focusing on, and I am often shooting with an intentional foreground that os out of focus, when I am actually trying to look at what is behind.

For instance I believe the iPhone attempted to lock on the light fixture in front of me, when I was intending to shoot the Terminal tower (rainbow building ) in the background.

I do tap to focus. But with a challenging scenario like the photo I posted, the iPhone can’t keep the sky in any kind of focus. With that example though, it failed across the board and nothing was in focus.

I still think this new 48mp is very good. I’ve attached a photo I’ve taken RAW which will probably be compressed to helllll, but quite honestly it’s one of the most impressive phone photos I’ve ever seen as a point and shoot shot. The detail is ridiculous.

* oh. I can’t post it at all. Must be too big. 😂. But it’s a cracker.

Suuuuurrreee….. likely taken at a top secret location too ;) .

End of day, I value your opinion on the subject. We have different viewpoints and likely different expectations and experiences overall.

As with anything smartphone YMMV, and I appreciate and like BOTH devices for different reasons.

It was taken in my living room... 😂.
I also like both devices for different reasons. There's pros and cons to both. That's why I enjoy using both and don't understand how some people slate Android because they tried a Galaxy S6 years ago and said "never again".

I've just picked up my 6 Pro for the first time in over a week. Typing this on it now. The keyboard haptics are 🥰 and the size, weight, and feel of this phone is so much better than the Pro Max for me. The Pro Max is a beast. But it comes with that great battery life. It all comes down to individual priorities in a smartphone I guess!

So I just traded in my Samsung S20FE for a S22 plus and I had originally bought a Galaxybook2 pro 360 and traded in my s6 lite tab for what I bought it for on sale at Bestbuy. I returned the Galaxybook and Samsung gave me a credit for it and was able to use it twice on the s22 plus my trade in value and on a s8 tablet. Say what you will about Samsung but their trade in deals and promotions make their devices very affordable. Also the S22 was $100 off. From this point on I will talk about the s22 plus and just use s22 for brevity but I am only talking about the s22 plus when I say s22.

With that all being said I also have an iPhone 13 Pro Max. The IPhone is really great. Fast, great battery life, very reliable and the software is great. So I had not used my S20 FE for about a year. I am going to give a perspective from the S20FE and iPhone. I decided not to get the 14 well at least until the trade in deals make it more affordable otherwise I will wait for the 15. The 14 is just not a big upgrade beyond the camera, always on display and dynamic island-which I am on the fence about.

From the iPhone the S22 has a ton of apps that I am not happy with. Some are useful and others are just bloat and in typical Samsung style you can only uninstall some, disable some and others you can't do either.

The S22 has a better camera and brighter screen. The battery life is not as good although maybe in time it will get better. The processor seems just as fast mostly. The build quality is really good and was impressed. I got the green and I love the color and size. To me the iPhone seems really big and heavy while the Samsung feels substantial and good quality but it seems a lot smaller to me with a screen almost equal in size. There is just something about how easy it fits in my hand. I do like the slightly fatter aspect ratio on the iPhone but the s22 is good. My s20FE had almost the same screen but was a lot bigger. The bezels on the s22 are better than the iPhone.

The software experience just to be honest is not as fluid or smooth as iOS. Although I feel Samsung does a great job with OneUI. I have had Pixels, OnePlus, and many others and while I appreciate a vanilla Android more than Samsung OneUI it has vastly improved over the years. Bloatware aside it is very fluid and fast. There are just some area like some transitions and other UI elements where iOS is better. Notifications are so much better on Android. The fact that this phone will get 4 years of software updates and 5 years of security patches is a huge advantage for Samsung devices.

On the software side I find integration of my phone and tablet to be pretty seamless but my PC is a little less elegant than Apples interface. It is unfortunate that I can't sync my phone with my Mac but that is Apple's fault. If I has kept the Galaxybook I am sure integration would be even better.

The camera on my s22 is better than my iPhone although both are very good. I like the zoom better on the s22 and photos are just super clear in any light conditions. I just feel the camera works better on the s22.

The screen is a little more natural on the s22 and slightly colder which I like. The iPhone has true tone which makes everything too yellow to me and I have it turned off and still seems a little yellow. I like the s22 screen just a little better in general.

The speakers on both phones are great and it is pretty much a tie.

The keyboard on both is good but I find Samsung to be easier to use as the numbers are on the same screen as the letters but I find Apple's keyboard to be more accurate.

Apps are pretty much the same although ios version tends to be more polished across the board but I would say for my use it is a tie.

The two phones are pretty well matched and there are some things I like better on the s22 and some I like better on the iPhone.

The iPhone has much better integration between devices and even my car. The software experience is better on the iPhone. The battery life is way better on the iPhone.

One other thing is call reception and internet connectivity and again Samsung is better here.

So I use both devices. Every couple weeks or so I switch back and forth. I have a SoFi account and that makes the Samsung something I can't get rid of.

Comparing the S20FE the s22 is a pretty big upgrade except for battery. The battery life on the S20FE and my iPhone were about the same. Both are 2 day phones. The s22 plus is a day and a half to one full day. The s22 plus is better in every other way, better screen, better speakers, better build quality, better cameras. I liked the S20FE a lot but the s22 plus feels a lot more premium.

Check online early morning before 7am. I see them popping up here around Dallas periodically. That's how I found mine on launch day.

The cameras are definitely huge but the 48mp ProRaw images have been some of the most impressive I've taken on a phone. I've been very impressed overall. Z Fold4 is still my favorite overall device just for the versatility but the 14PM + Watch Ultra combo is probably gonna keep me on the apple side for a minute.

Yes, I’ve checked early mornings. Nothing now popped up yet, but definitely keeping my eyes on it.… I’m happy you’re enjoying the fold 4 …Flip 4 is my favorite phone right now…

I changed from Samsung Flagship phones (I loved them) to iPhone 12 Pro Max because I thought the hearing aid facility connected and worked more smoothly, I still find it frustrating that I can't place an app on my Home Screen exactly where I want it, also, the Samsung app draw is better thought out, the Apple idea is basically putting all the apps on another page.

I do find the iPhone less complicated than the Samsung equivalents but I can get over that with a little practice.

I found that I could work in the Android eco system quite easily with my Mac Book Pro, iPads and Samsung phone, those that say they are too invested in either eco system should realise that it is quite easy to get a mix working.

I have always thought that Apple laptops and tablets have been better and my opinion hasn't changed, I have recently bought a Mac Book Air M2 to replace my MBP early 2015 and also got a 2022 iPad mini as well as the latest iPad Air. Yesterday I received my iPhone 14 Pro and the week before bought a Apple Watch Ultra, these suite me at the moment and being a very old man, find familiarity easier to bear.

I also have a Garmin Fenix 7, is the Apple Watch Ultra better? Nope, a long way off but it works best for me so I will give the Garmin to my daughter, and her or her family can get a lot of good use from it.

I tell you what though, I don't half fancy a Samsung Fold phone, I think they are amazing technology. Perhaps I should have took the plunge this year, maybe next year if I am still alive. Lol.

What I don't like is where members here blindly follow one stable or the other, both are fabulous systems that work beautifully, those that give disparaging remarks about Apple/Samsung/Google etc, often say it out of loyalty to other platforms and have never tried the item they slag off, that much is obvious by just reading some of the answers.

We need all these companies pushing each other to innovate and one should never buy out of loyalty to a company, they don't return that loyalty, none of them, they are money driven, pure and simple.

Completely agree with you.

I think you should get a Fold 4 if that is the correct name. I would suggest waiting until Black Friday and if you can trade in an old Samsung phone it should help with the cost.

I just recently purchased an M2 MBA as well and I love it!

Have a Samsung s22 plus and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Also have an inexpensive windows laptop. Multiple platforms are fun! And I have often found different platforms work better for certain tasks.

I have some time left before I return my iPhone 14 PM. I’ve requested the return and have the bag but need to just send it off.
Something keeps stopping me though 😆.
I love my Pixel 7 Pro, but I’ve really enjoyed using the 14 PM too. I haven’t actually used it since I got my Pixel, but I do turn it on now and then and have a play.

I wish I could keep both, but it’s just utter madness for me!

And there's good reason for that! iPhones have a lot to offer, like better security, a streamlined experience and top-of-the-line photography systems. In the United States, they make up nearly 60% of the market share. If you've been an Android user for some time, it can be daunting to make the switch .

Security is FUD. It's all the same. Android as a collective group probably has the largest marketshare and besides who cares? This is like the XBOX vs Playstation console wars. People need to use what they like best. I'm extremely happy with Google and Android. There's nothing like Google's Call Screener. I find Google Chrome better than Safari, GMaps better than Apple Maps, Google Keep. Did you notice the reasons why I prefer Google over iOS? Google has advantages for me that iOS doesn't offer.

I'm sure you can list of things you prefer iOS does over Android and NO security is all the same. I am a testament to that. I have used EOL Android phones several years after no security updates and I never have had a problem with my AMEX and banking cards on the phone. My circle of friends have had similar experiences. The security bit has been overplayed.

The bottom line is, use what works best for you. Let's drop the my Dad can kick your Dad's butt out of the convo.

Myth...and Android has a bigger market share though we are talking OS not brands here,....... and not that it matters. For me there isnt anything better about an iPhone. I mean they still using the same decade old ringtones.
