After having 2 Max and now XR, I finally decided to keep the XR and restored it with all my info including the Wallet. I don’t do this with the “test” phone until I’m fully committed since I have all my bank apps and 5 credit cards on my Wallet. After using this phone for the past week, I’m very satisfied with the phone and it’s definitely a keeper.

Out of interest what made you decide on XR over the XS Max?

Glad you’re enjoying the XR. It’s the best price/performance iPhone out there. If $ was an issue it would be mine, but I can’t give up the Max. Best iPhone I’ve ever had by far. It’s the phone I’ve always wanted.. +size without big ugly top & bottom bezels. Plus, after having OLED I can never go back to LCD. My eyes are spoiled. Lol

Love that Apple is giving us options and not telling us what we want like they’ve done in the past.

Honestly, I may have gotten the Max had a comparable Max not been $450 more than a 128GB XR. The Max is a great phone, but I couldn’t justify the difference for my needs and budget. I might have gone a couple hundred dollars more, but I like the XR so much that I’m not sure.

Like you said, Apple is giving us options, which should make more people happy.

I hear ya, but with the way we pay for phones these days in monthly payments a few extra dollars a month was no big deal to me for the Max.

I plan on keeping my phone for at least 2 years and I felt the XS Max is more future proof and I won’t regret not getting the biggest and best display.

That is the beauty of having a choice. If you keep the phone 2 years, then you'll end up paying full price for it. Usually the scenario is that you only keep it a year so you are just paying $780 or something like that, so that makes it worth it. $1500 for 256gb phone is just hard to swallow for a lot of people and it isn't because they don't have the money... it's a value thing. OLED screen and a telephoto lens just don't add up to paying $450 more vs 128gb XR and 256 Max. But again that is me... you've made your decision that spending that much more is worth it and that is all the really matters.

You didn’t mention the color. What color did you get?
I got the silver and white as I like that the silver is the colour of the aluminium and will wear better over time and look newer longer.

XS and XS Max were way out of my price range, so I "settled" on a red XR. A huge leap from an iPhone 6+...
