I wish there was a way for us to avoid the custom vendor skin. Most of the time they are useless. BUT.....that is the only way the vendor can deliver any features that do not come with pure vanilla Android. Pure Android is pretty bland. Most of the buying public might not want something so bland.......
I just wish there was a way to remove all the bloat without having to root. Like maybe order any new phone with Cyanogenmod preinstalled......
Considering the phone pattern so far. 2 Samsung Nexi 2 LG Neck next up is 2 whatever other company Nexi. You can quote this and laugh at me if I turn out to be wrong.
I agree with you.....they can still lock the phone down to the carrier if they wish. But having that option would great customer service.I have always wondered why OEM's can't sell 2 versions of the same phone. One with their skin on it, and one as plain unfiltered android. It wouldn't cost any money, and they can always give the option to their customers to download "company" made skin OTA through LG servers or something.
We don't know that. We have rumors but that's it. I don't think LG will produce the next Nexus you can point and laugh at me all you want.Bullsh--. It doesn't follow any pattern. Google just moves to the best fit for them at the time. It's strongly rumored that Google has chosen LG for their smart watch, it would make sense they get the Nexus 6 too.

Well we shall see about the run our then. Will do my friend. For what it's worth PCMag published an article not too long ago pointing to circulating rumors that they're already collaborating on the Nexus 6. A rumor is of course just a rumor, but there's more evidence that it'll happen than otherwise.. with your 'pattern' aside.
Last years LG G2 was unveiled in early August and released in the fall. We have already heard reports that LG is looking to release this years version, the LG G3, a little earlier. All reports indicated July, but LG just released their quarterly financial numbers and there was a mention that the LG G3 would impact revenues during the second quarter.
Now that would seem to mean June, but if LG is expecting the G3 to impact numbers for the second quarter, you can forget June since that isnt enough time. ZDNet Korea was able to speak to an unnamed LG exec that said that we will see the G3 by the end of May, which sounds right on.
May 1 is two days from now so that would mean that invites for an event should be going out very soon since the phone needs to be unveiled before its sold to the public. LG could make the phone available the same day as the event, so it could be put the event in the third to fourth week of May. Last year, they introduced the G2 here in the U.S., but we dont know if that is their intention again this year. We will keep you posted.
Nobody is talking about it or cares because it's LG.
I think you are right on the money with that.......The battery hit it will take to run those screens at that size will drain the battery until the chipset is optimized.....The G2 was pretty awesome. Speak for yourself.
Though I'd probably skip the first generation QHD displays. And second. I think battery and performance will take a hit until chip makers catch up.

They might have upped the screen size, mainly to accommodate the slightly larger battery needed for the display. Win Win.
Save the date, May 27 is when we'll see what's next from LG
The LG G3 is going to be with us very soon, as LG has started sending out invites to press for an event on May 27 in 6 cities around the world. London, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Istanbul and Seoul will all see the introduction of LG's newest flagship smartphone for 2014 on the very same day. LG's going big this time.
The invite doesn't specifically mention the G3, but with the emphasis on G, it's pretty obvious what we're looking at. The G3 has leaked out recently showing off redesigned, but still rear facing buttons, and is rumored to have a crazy 1440p resolution display.
Of course, Android Central will be live on location though we'll keep you guessing as to which location, for now! from the event to bring you everything you'll want to know. We know a lot of folks are excited for this one, so stick with us. It's sure to be a good one!
