what i expect is that they will charge separately for each version pc/mac

no way will they allow you to buy the pc version now , and then get the mac version for free ( beacuse it's the same game - it's not a port it's natively written for mac )

By the way, the price on this has dropped to $39.99. I don't know if it's temporary or permanent. Thinking of using my reward zone certificate and nabbing it for $20 even though it's a bit broken.

"One new feature will be of particular interest for gamers who play on both PC and Mac machines: dual-platform play. For select EA games (that are available on both PC and Mac), you can buy a title once on Origin, and when you log into Origin on either Mac or PC, that same game will appear in your newly unified (Mac/PC) My Games library."

I don't see why they wouldn't allow us to install the mac version when you have a pc key. It beats the whole cloud purpose anyway.

now that i 'm rethinking it ... in my country the sims 3 disc had both mac/pc version .

i was hoping they do that for simcity 2013

any news on the release date ?

If that's true, I will go ahead and buy the game.

I know this is how they do it with the Sim's. I bought it and used it on my mac's then recently spun up a PC for Sim City and was able to through origin able to install Sims on the PC side.

I figured, but none of us knew for sure if the Mac version would be like that since it was a native game and not a port. But if that statement means that I can buy it on PC now, run it on bootcamp and then play it again later on OS X, I'll go ahead and take the jump.

It's not even broken anymore. I've been playing for a week with absolutely no server issues. Granted, I haven't played for a day or two thanks to Bioshock Infinite, but I'd imagine that's freeing up server space across the board for Origin right now. :D

Amazon.com has Simcity Limited Edition (DVD) on sale for $39.75 USD, plus a Dove men + care product deal I am thinking of getting for another $20 off. Then you should be able to upgrade to deluxe for $20 on Origin. Not bad. Just hoping they increase the city size.

I just bought it off Amazon for $39. That's better than paying $59. I assume once the Mac version is released, I will be able to download it on Origin for Mac. Let's see how it goes. I am downloading it now.

sorry to bother you again

i have an early 2009 iMac 2.93 ghz core 2 duo
8gb ram
nvidia gt 120 256 mb ram

i know it's on the minimum requirements (especially the graphics on board ram ) but is it going to run ... not high or ultra settings but ... will it be playable ?

also why is there no demo ?
how am i supposed to know if i 'm able to run the game and if i 'm satisfied with my graphics ...

I'll pick this up once it's available on Steam and when the online DRM is removed. Two friends on the same road picked it up and both are still having server problems (our local server must be awful).

It will never be on steam.

Unfortunately the game has serious design issues that go beyond server problems...I really hope they will be addressed, but I have my doubts.

So, never.

It will never be on steam.

Aye, it appears that way. But I'll be true to my word if it ever did happen.

And it's not like we're starved for games at the moment - Bioshock Infinite is blasting ahead of everything.

any news about the cross platform availabilty from origin ?
(like if i get the pc version now will i get the mac version ori will it be sold separately )
the thing is my pc can probably run it on low-medium but i'm more interested in the mac version . i have the option to buy the disk now , which is (surpisingly ) cheaper than origin , or buy from origing , or wait and see about the mac version . my imac has a better cpu but the pc has a slightly better gpu (and less ram )

Sounds like we will be able to do that from one of the previous posts. I went ahead and bought it on Amazon for $39 and plugged the key into Origin. Hopefully when the Mac version becomes available, it will allow me to download it. It sounds like it will.

when you put the key on origin - on the my games library when you hover the mouse over the game does it say ''game only available for windows '' ?
well i plan to buy it from origin ( how did you do buy the key on amazon - i thought it was origin only ) but only if a see a written announcement from EA.

p.s.: my worry is that it will not play
