people tell me it won't run or even have trouble on low ?

ps 2 : is there a demo ?

That's because your iMac has a very weak graphics card. The 9400M you mention is also pretty poor (it is NVIDIA's equivalent of the Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics, but older). It might run, but only on low settings and nobody can make any promises about performance.

So far I am running the game on a Dell 2.66 C2D, 3gb ram, XP, and Geforce 210 512mb. It is easy on the processor but heavy on this older fx card. The game has many fx settings and when I put it on 1920x1080 I had to put all settings on low or else scrolling was slow. I ended up with 1440x900 and was able to squeeze out some lighting and AA.

All in all if you have an older 256mb fx card I would not be expecting too much, it doesn't look too good. First night playing it crashed 3 times. They are minor as it just exited the city to the games main screen and was quick to get back into, everything saving to their servers.

As a Simcity lover though I would still recommend it if you have the graphics for it.

Ugh.... right now my dang city won't load, but the other section will. I was trying to generate enough to plop down the Arcology. :(

When I click on my main city, it's showing about 300K in money short, and 70K short on people. :(

It's not loading though. It's still at the splash screen for loading.

June 11th on Mac.

And you can buy the PC version and get the mac version free

Wish they had confirmed that when they launched the PC version. Has been a bit nerve wracking wondering if they would or not if you went ahead and got it at launch!

If you scan the Origin website, they have notes from the developers which clearly state that if you purchase on PC you will get it for Mac.

yes they confirmed it
but i i ''ll still wait till june . i want to wait for the reviews of the mac version and the techicalities of getting both versions with one purchase

(one user in the EA forums says that he bought the pc version but the mac is not showing up )

It shows on my list of games in Origin on the Mac.

... and here is the game for mac under expansions:

It shows that I pre-ordered it. I've had the PC version since launch.

I bought the PC version and just started to play under bootcamp/Win7

for those who want to join, North America East 4 server, region name 'Kings Landing'

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm still recovering from the train wreck that was SC4 on mac. Not being able to confirm if there is retina support or not so close to the release date combined with the PC reviews doesn't exactly fill me with confidence either.

I hope I am not double posting. I own a 2010 imac with Mountain lion installed, 2.8 i7 processor, 8gb of ram and a 512mb ati graphics card. Will sim city run fine on my setup, without the need to sacrifice any graphic detail.

Unless the Mac version turns out to be very well optimized, the framerate won't be very good at native res with full detail on a 512mb card.

If it's the same as the PC version you can lock it to 30fps and turn down different settings until it's stable without having to restart. I doubt you'll get 60fps though.

Thanks for the feedback, I guess I can live with that until i buy a new IMac next year, besides i can run it on my 2012 15 macbook pro retina which should be better I hope.

I didn't buy the DVD, but yes, that's how it works.

Yep. I haven't even used the DVD lol. I just downloaded it from Origin in my bootcamp setup.

sorry for noob question, if i want to run in bootcamp do i need to do a complete windows install on my rMBP + the SimCity install? that seems like it would take up a HUGE amount of disk space?????

Yes. Provided you are just wanting to install SimCity, I'd set aside ~30 GB.

I bit the bullet and bought the game. I installed Windows 7 into BootCamp onto my 2012 MBP today and then got the game. The only issue I had was registering with Origin. The website was giving me fits but once I worked that out everything else went fine.

I've played maybe 2 hours of it so far and it's not too bad. I do have agree with many others that the small size of the city maps is disappointing.
