Seems like the dock is reflecting the cloudy habital environment of the Mountain Lion. I wish they'd go back to the Tiger dock though.

It can be replaced but the white edges from the DP4 dock will stick out. To do this i used the Dock contents from DP3 you can try this yourself with the files i have provided.

Must say that I never noticed the difference between the two until this thread. Like the new dock - fits in further with Apple's minimalist tendencies of late....

One thing i don't like about the new dock is the fact that it lags the animations when swiping between full screen programs.

Worked great aside from one small glitch, unchecking "Group windows by application" doesn't work. I played around and was able to get the orbs indicators to return, they looked great against the black surface. I restored the original dock as I need the "All Windows" aspect of unchecking "Group windows by application" feature. I'll play around with it some more. Good stuff so far! :)

they could've changed it a little bit since they changed the 3d dock look.
It's looked the same for a long time, unfortunately. When I'm actually using my Mac on a day-to-day basis I like to have the dock on the side, even though it's much more boring/ugly. It would be nice to give it an updated look.

I like everything about it except the running application indicator. It's difficult to notice in a glance.

I really like the open application indicator. It's much better looking and subtle but still visible.

where did you get your dock icons from? i love the safari one especially!
All of my dock icons are posted on my Deviant-art page.
How'd you do that?! (just grab one layer)
CMD+Shift+4+Spacebar and move the camera to the bottom left edge or right edge of the dock to take a screenshot of the bottom layer or the center of the dock to take a screenshot of the top layer.

No one in here is mad about the dock change. Why are you even posting if you don't care?, secondly the UX team at Apple aren't the same people that work on driver compatibility for the OS.
