Not that I know much about other Android skins, but the HTC One skin is really nice.

I liked it a lot coming straight from iPhone 5, and feel like HTC got the balance right.

Blinkfeed is actually pretty cool too.

What’s the best browser to use for the One? I went to AT&T to try it out and the stock browser was not impressive at all. It wasn’t any faster than my iPhone 5. I turned wifi off for both so they were on the same network. I also had the issue that every time I pressed the back button the One had to reload the page while the iPhone didn’t. Is this a problem with the stock browser?

Not sure why you had the problem.

I just opened browser, loaded google, then loaded Engadget.com, then loaded HTC.com, finally TheVerge.com one after the other. Pressing back from verge took me to HTC.com, then pressing back took me straight back to Engadget, and then likewise to google. There was no reloading between sites on the way back....

The HTC one should also come with Chrome installed too if you want to try a different browser, however as I say I don't have a re-loading issue here at all on the stock HTC browser.

You could go into stock browser / menu button / settings / advanced and reset to default just in case they have tinkered with some settings. Its possible AT&T have some settings adjusted in relation to mobile data ?

But as I say I can't replicate the issue here on my one.

Edit.. Check developer options / advance in settings just in case someone has restricted the amount of apps running in background or such too. You can quite easily gimp performance if you know how.

That’s good to know you don't have that problem. There is no telling what settings have been messed with on the one in the store so I'm sure that was probably the issue. I'm still up in the air on weather to try the One or not. The pics I took in the store were not very impressive but I've seen some amazing pics online that were taken with the one so I guess the best thing to do would be to try it out. Thanks for the info.

In the stock browser there are shortcut buttons on the bottom. Do you know if they are customizable?

I dont have shortcut buttons on my bottom.... Or in the stock browser ;)

Yeah joking aside don't see any shortcuts, for me its just browser page. I get the address bar, tabs/page select and menu button, on top and that's it. Nothing at the bottom at all.

It's one color only.

And to boot, Light Flow won't work. It's possible it may work after rooting (per the info provided on the app) but even then it looks like customizability will be limited if at all as I don't believe HTC uses a 3 color LCD. Ugh..

I begrudgingly have to admit my first full day using the One has been less than stellar--quite a few things I'm finding a bit irritating (and no couch, the reach for the power button is not one of them). I'll post my impressions in greater detail after another day or two.

blarrrg

Highly envious of all you folks who have received shipment of your DE One. I placed an order for it early this past Saturday morning, when the HTC site claimed they were in stock. Yesterday and today the order has been sitting in "picking" status so I called them and, yep, looking at an "estimated 2 to 4 weeks" (just as HTC's site now states). Oh well, looks like the wifey will have to exercise a little more patience waiting to inherit my iPhone5. ;) Oh... LetsTalk were kind enough to waive the 8-dollar shipping fee, though. I guess that's... generous. Heh.

I guess it was just ATT version then. There are shortcut buttons on the bottom of the browser on the demo unit.

Early "nitpicks" as you all like to call them:

-So much of Sense doesn't make sense. So much. Why is "Vibrate on touch" option under "Sound" in settings, for example? I was looking high and low for it. Is that normal? Is that where it is on the stock Android too? I can't remember now now that I've been away from stock Android for so long. There are other things that really irk me about Sense.

-While the power button isn't hard to reach per se, it's really stupidly located. There's just no beating around the bush. Those that have it, imagine pushing where the volume down is instead as your power button. I don't know how anyone can tell me that's not more sensible, comfortable, and easier. I really don't know. Every time I reach up, I have to re-adjust and shuffle my hand down a little to bring the device back to the typical, usual palming position to operate the phone. If I don't shuffle back down, my thumbs can't reach the "back" button or the home button for that matter. Again, not as nightmarish as it was on the One X (thanks in part to the ergonomics of this device and how narrow-ish it is) but it's still a bother.

-Camera position sort of bothers me too because as my right index finger is reaching up for that power/wake button, I feel like it's smudging the camera glass. Yet another reason why top power button is stupid.

Other than that liking everything else so far. Going to test camera soon...

PS. FEELS SO GOOD TO BE BACK ON ANDROID! :)

Is it me or is the notification bar a little unresponsive? I feel like I have to swipe down multiple times sometimes to get it to pull down... The heck.

Also, boooo to the on-screen menu bar. I've already seen it on multiple apps. Very very lame.

Yep it's the same on CM10.1.
