Or that they just didn't order any more. Amazon can still track how well, or not, the Mac products are selling through the 3rd parties that sell on their site.
If it isn't high enough volume and/or margins aren't there is no good reason why Amazon has to stock in their warehouse.

Except that the base Mini is their 10th best selling desktop computer as of right now (and don't forget it's been out of stock for months) and is their 2nd best rated in the same category.

Over 100 pages and over 2.500 posts!

July is almost done. If they don't update it silently with the MacBook Pros (if this update turns out to be true), I'd say the last hope for a Mac Mini this year would be about 2 or 3 months from now (along with most updates and in time for the Holiday season).

If it doesn't happen, I guess we'll push this thread to 500.000 views and 3.000 posts before we see a new Mac Mini

If no mini refresh soon, forget Mac mini, R. I. P.

If the "worst case scenario" happens and the model is discontinued-- or it gets a speed bump but has the feared soldered ram-- will I still be able to find 2012 Minis in the refurb store?

Naturally I want to see what they come up with next before pulling the trigger, but of course I'm scared that I won't like what I see at the next product announcement.

It sounds like you are in the EXACT SAME position as I was and had been for weeks. They could still pop up on the refurb store, but to be honest, they won't be cheaper than what they are on sale for right now at best buy. At least thats my opinion….. Those are GOOD prices.

Thanks, yeah, cheaper than refurbs right now. That's pretty great.

How do we all feel about "Open Box" items? It's an additional $35 off... worth it?

I mean it depends. For me, its not worth it. $35 more for a BRAND NEW computer is worth it. Refurb's are different, but open box are mostly returns and I don't trust returns, lol.

$35 is only about 5% of the total cost of the whole machine…I would spring for the new. Now if the open box was $100 cheaper it would be a different story.

I bought one a year ago. It's fine. You still get the 1 year warranty from Apple.
Just make sure Best Buy resets it if it was used by someone with an Icloud account.

A refurb For $35 off? Personally I'd buy a new one. Now if it was a $100 off, I'd buy one in a second.

They aren't refurbed. They are new ones that were opened and returned usually. Sometimes not even authorized. You still get the full warranty and save $.
Sometimes you can talk them down. I bought mine and it was never authorized for $435.

Best Buy just put the base i5 model on sale again, this time for $489! And the i7 model is $689! Fire Sale! New Mini incoming!

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no solid information. Just calling it as I see it.

I don't know if they still do it, but BB used to muck around in all new PCs and add crap that they charge extra for under the pretense of adding value and protection to your PC. They wouldn't dare mess with Macs, I hope! And speaking of hope, it's almost Tuesday! :D

Yeah, some googling found one thread about someone who didn't qualify for a free OS upgrade because the product had been registered to its first owner and it had been more than 180 days or something like that? Second owner missed the window, I guess.

Think an open box mini will have Mavericks on it? Seems like chances would be good, but I guess there's no way of definitively knowing how long a returned item has sat on a warehouse shelf.

You can find the manufacture date here:http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

If a miracle occurs tomorrow AM and the mini gets an update, I can always return it :)

Tomorrow is going to disappoint you. Speed bumps for the MacBook Pros. I'm doubtful of anything happening for the Mac Mini. Tempted to just get the Best Buy sale (since it is today only) and wait to open it if the line is updated.

December 2013 - "The new Mac mini is almost certainly coming"
July 2014 - "The new Mac mini is almost certainly coming"

Although i do think it will come in these months, a 2014 release.

okay...

should I go for the base model Core i5, Iris pro 5200 graphics, 8Gb RAM, 128Gb pcie SSD....or find the extra two hundred for the Core i7 quad with 16Gb RAM and 256Gb pcie SSD?

I'm thinking the latter cos' I want the black case. :apple:

the 802.11ac wireless will also be sweet.

...... well it's a nice dream ! :)

It's definitely going to be an interesting night. Because of the much rumored MacBook Pro refresh most likely happening tonight, the Apple Store site will be down. Those of us waiting on the Mini refresh are going to be on pins and needles with the store down wondering what will appear when it comes back up. With any luck, a new Mini!
