Still seams a little strange that there has been no referbs in the online Apple refurb store for a couple months now.

Refurb.me shows that they were last available 15 days ago. When they appear they sell out in hours, so you probably missed them.

Yeh your probably right. Seems like every time I check there isn't any.

On another note there are still a lot of tech sites still predicting updated minis for Thursdays event.

MINI'S COMING:apple:!

The Mini will be out soon.

In February. Or March.

That is an other unfulfilled prophecy my friend and it is equally as true as the other one. :) One needs to open another thread named "mini will be out soon" and may get 5000 posts as soon.

Only two more days

If Apple does not update the Mac mini, we will be angry and/or sad.

If Apple does update the Mac mini, most of us will be disappointed by the update.

If Apple replaces the Mac mini with a low-power Mac nano at a lower cost, some of us will be happy but some of us will be furious.

If Apple replaces the Mac mini with a smaller version of a Mac Pro but at a higher cost, some of us will be happy but some of us will be furious.

I'm starting to think this thread is pretty sad. The various iPhone 6 preorder threads got far more posts in a month than this thread had gotten in nearly a year, yet the preorders were a sure thing!

this thread is awesome:) will it end on thursday?:) :apple:

Even in a best-case scenario a mini updated on Thursday will either have a Haswell processor or the low-power Broadwell Core M. This will not be adequate for everyone in this thread, so there should be good opportunities to keep the thread alive.

As for myself I'm past the point where I'm no longer interested in Haswell, so I imagine I will be waiting for the higher-powered Broadwells in the beginning of next year. But I could also see myself buying a fanless Core M mini/nano as a HTPC. It would be much more powerful than what I have now, anyway! Soldered RAM is okay as long as it comes with the 8GB that is max for Core M.

I was thinking the same thing. It would make a great HTPC and could serve as a nice server also with DAS attached.

My expectations on an new mini lowered, next mini may not arrive until WWDC on Broadwell cpu. Neither no cues suggest that the xMac (Haswell-E/nVidia based Mac Pro) will either arrive, as Apple is focused on the retina iMac or new Macintosh, it's much more likely to see (not available yet) an 12" retina MacBook Air.

So true. There will be unhappiness on MacRumors Thursday no matter what happens.

Visited a UK Apple Store today to purchase a Mac Mini for a friend. A starter kit if you will. The salesperson said, and I quote:

Salesman: "What will you be using this for."
Me: "Simple DTP etc." NOYB actually.
Salesman: Very quietly. "If I may say this is an unwise purchase."

We assumed that he was trying to sell us more. But then I said:

Me: "My friend is not interested in new tech just something that works. I know there's a refresh coming, But she's happy to buy now."

Salesman: Again quietly. "There isn't a refresh coming."
Me: "There's not?"
Salesman: Shakes his head. "No."

Well, he wouldn't allude to any more detail. But was adamant that no refresh was coming and instead changed the subject and advised my friend that an OS update was coming in about 4 days.

I don't know whatnot make of that.

You missed one:
- Mac mini gets a silent update with Haswell processor and no other design changes. In spring/summer the Mini is due for a refresh: "Mac nano" or something similar... With Broadwell you can get the same speed in 1/4 of the size!

just add the iris pro and i'm with you.

Dear Tim Cook

If you do talk about the Mac mini, even if to tell us that the update is delayed until 2015 because of Intel, it would be funny for all of us if you did use this title in your Keynote, either as on-screen title or when you start talking about it:

"The new Mac mini is almost certainly coming"
