I must confess it is about two years now that I read this topic solely for fun.

And so it should be.

Refurb items seem to sell v. quickly. (Is there a pattern for when in day/week?)

There have been a lot of 2014 minis on there recently (and I think I got the last 2012 2.6 i7 they listed at the end of November). Stuff on there seems to sell pretty fast.

Just as important: the shipping time for BTO started slipping two weeks ago.

Don't get too excited about that. Two weeks ago BTO was 2 weeks shipping, now its back 4-5 days...but then again, the new Mac Mini is almost certainly coming!

So far I see 7-14 days on US Apple Store for Mini. The same goes for every other Apple computer that... needs update.

I only see 6-8 days in US for Mini (the higher specced one, that starts at 999$)

Sweden here: 4 days for standard, 11 days for BTO.

Either in stock or 1-3 business days.
Nothing to see here.
Same for Retina MacBooks, BTW.

'Tis like reading tea leaves, methinks. Lots of different patterns, and folks seeing what they hope to be.

Rest assured….. The new Mac Mini is almost certainly coming.

Hold on, I have my iChing for the Apple products. Let me throw the coins and see what I get. Yup! The coins clearly show that the new mac mini is almost certainly coming soon. Now where did I put that Ouija Board???

Wonder what customisation Apple makes.
http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-johny-srouji-apple-chief-chipmaker/

"Then the shuttle takes Srouji a few more miles away, to another unmarked building, where rows of customized Mac Minis are testing prototype chips under various temperature and pressure conditions. Standing in an aisle, surrounded by exposed circuit boards and digital innards, is like being inside the Matrix. “No one has seen this before,” Srouji says."

Oh no! It's the dreaded ARM Macs!

it can be used to confirm the processor in the iPad Air 3, iPhone 4" replacement - A9X and A9 respectively.
They also confirm March date for an event.

Who knows what the Mac mini customisation is. Just an article that referenced the model in passing. We wait for March...(and Gurman hehe)

An interesting development! We all knew the new Mac mini is almost certainly coming, but now you say it is almost certainly coming soon? This should be on the front page!

I know, right? The coins do not lie :) To the Forum Moderator, please put this on the Front Page. Soon.

Clearly this whole DOJ-thing is just a smoke-screen to be able to discreetly move the new MacMini to dealers and Stores out of public sight.

You read my mind. There is no other plausible explanation. Under darkness of night and political manipulation, the Mac Mini moves sneakily into Apple stores everywhere.

What's happening Tuesday?

I'm currently looking into a Mac Mini or something similar and there's a few sites now showing limited availability of the current model.

Rest assured, nothing is happening on Tuesday.
It's all insider-jokes at this point.
There might be a new MacMini coming late Autumn, but even that is uncertain.
My guess would be that either it's because of the Chinese New Year, production had stopped and there is a certain back-log and/or people have been moved from putting together Mini's to some other new product (which we may or may not see in about a month).
Which Mini are you looking at?

It's a running joke on this thread...

But the new Mac Mini is most certainly coming!

People don't read all 250 pages of this thread before posting?

Ahhhhhh I have looked through this thread although not every page when I joined the site recently and thought I missed something lol.

I just received £500 of John Lewis vouchers through work and looking at either the entry level or mid range version. Our usage will be very minimal, just photo storage and organisation, kids homework and probably Plex and Netflix however we use the XBOX and Apple TV for that at the moment.

I know that the entry level version gets a lot of negativity however I'm hopeful it should be fine for our needs.

Well, it all depends.
The one with Fusion Drive is 799 UKP on the site you mention.
After a few OS upgrades, you will notice the difference.
Alternatively, you might want to invest in this case: http://www.amazon.com/Optimized-Inateck-External-Enclosure-Tool-free/dp/B00FCLG65U (or a similar one), buy an SSD of your choice and boot from the external enclosure.
But having the faster CPU and the Fusion Drive will be much, much better.
The issue I have with the smallest Mini is the rather small amount of RAM it has. That will be the biggest problem. It can cache less in RAM and will have to fetch more from the slow disk....

I am concerned about what it will be like in a few years. Maybe worth going for the £569 version. At least I will have 8GB ram and a 1TB HDD. I can always add an External SDD for the OS at a later stage.

The 1 TB HD is in theory replaceable with a SATA3-SSD. But AFAIK, the 2014 case is more difficult to open than the 2012 case.
Still, the Mini is a nice machine. Not sure if you can get something as "nice" in PC-land. And then it runs Windows, which kind of ruins it anyway.
;-)

I was looking at a Acer RL85 but it's not a Mac and not as nice. I got caught up with double the Ram and double the HDD along with being easily upgradable for only £379.
