"Will be discontinued" team, what are you proposing for Mac build servers and schools, universities who want to use Macs?

There will be some sort of cheap device for macOS because it's simply a development and educational need.

Are we sure that Apple still cares about that market? Saw this story recently….

"Unfortunately, now that Apple has more-or-less stopped selling server configuration of any of its machines, some server administrators who want to go with new Macs are having trouble making the call. “I would love to buy a new Mac, but I can’t justify it,” writes Evan Walker, a support engineer who currently uses an Xserve as a remote workstation"

Not web servers but build servers, to compile iOS apps mostly.

You can't build it on other hardware. I think they're using lots of these internally too.

Great article, thanks for sharing it :)

Did anybody see that Microsoft Surface Studio? Bloody hell, that is the standard by which Apple will be judged tomorrow. The Surface Studio looks like a Mac Mini with an LCD screen bolted to the top of it. Is that where we're headed with the successor to the Mini tomorrow?

Yeah, and it has a dedicated Nvidia GPU. No USB-C or Thunderbolt 3, but four USB 3 ports:

I guess many of you will be headed to your local Apple store to pick up your New Mac Mini today because

"The New Mac Mini Is Almost Certainly Coming" ;)
Nah….. I have no need of new Mac Mini for now, so my interest for the time being is somewhat academic. I reckon on a year or two more out of my old one. None the less, it is comforting to know that new generations of the mac Mini will almost certainly continue to come, albeit at greater intervals than in the past.

Now just a forty more posts required to push the thread to a nice round 8,000 posts before the new Mac Mini is possibly, maybe announced at today's event (actually, tomorrow's, my time), or some future event.

The new Mac Mini is almost certainly coming…… sooner or later.

I would love to see a post from the OP. This thread is like a religion and the OP is our leader! Today is our holy day. There will either be great joy or many stages of grief later today.

Sorry Micky but I don't see the interest as in previous years to push 40 more before the event. A lot of people have moved on or given up and I have my doubts that Apple even cares about products like the Mac Mini.

But I'll keep shouting the Mantra that the new Mac Mini is almost certainly coming. :)

Exactly. What Apple releases (or doesn't release) today will dictate whether I will join the queue for the out door.

I dunno... I really think, unfortunately, the Mac Mini is done. If Apple decides to make any changes to it, it will be a silent one without any announcements. But, I guess we'll know something by this afternoon (EST).

Man I hope you guys get the minis of your dreams today. I'm personally praying for a Mac Pro that doesn't suck, but I love the mini. I have four running right now as server boxes and media centers (various models). I really do not want to have to switch to another company for that niche the next time need something like that. I like being able to walk into an Apple Store, walk out five minutes later with a new mini, and have such a versatile box to do so much with because of its size.

Ultimately, if Apple ends the Mac Pro and Mac mini lines, there's only their laptops keeping me in the ecosystem anymore, and I'll be looking for alternatives to that before long.

Hi,

i work in an Apple Reseller and like many of you i'm waiting for the mini 2013 refresh.

From monday the two major Apple suppliers in Italy are suddenly and completely out of stock of minis. I know that this happen from time to time, but the timing is no coincidence.

Trust me, a new mini is coming next week, or at least we have solid evidence to believe it.

Well, it would be a surprise, if they would update their desktop products, but I don't think, that this will happen this year (except maybe iMac).

Are they abandoning the server business as well? If that's the case then I can see the Mini being labeled a mini server...

As do I.
Should the mini meet its demise I very well may go with Raspberry Pi 3 for serving music. At $35 + kybd, mouse, LCD, and HD which I already have, it makes for a decent listening experience, and the software isn't bad either.
$1500 seems a little steep for Apple branded humdrum-task-doers, and I'm not so fond of iTunes as I was 3 versions back.
