Yeah, ditto that. Sure beats those old noisy windoze machines. I'm still looking forward to a 4k machine but there is plenty of time until the programing and content is ready and prices for new TVs come down.
I'm ready to update my old iPad and IPhone now.

genius bro ! because this is what Apple is waiting for. on this note some 60 screens by sharp now offer 4k for 2k I will find a link. found a link and it is upscale not true 4k

http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-LC-60SQ...M5G/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1

that is bad as zero pressure on apple to make a mini to drive a 4k tv when it still costs over 3 to 4 thousand dollar.

It's a hoot, ain't it?

well everyone here is to this weeks' Tuesday is coming/here comments :D

Happy Tuesdaying ;)

Can we close this topic?

No

The only way to do that is take all of the forums offline for several hours with a "we'll be right back" sign, then require everyone to look at all of the forums to figure out which thread was closed.

In the meantime on another board there will be thousands of posts speculating on what was changed, followed by thousands more saying "no change to thread x".

Finally both this board and all others will be bombarded by posts analyzing why this thread was closed and not thread y, and starting speculation on when thread y WAS going to be closed. Followed by even more telling you if you really need to read thread y to do it now, if not then wait until you need to before reading.

HAHAHA I LOVE LOVE LOVE this....

Me too, cute eh?

Can we close this thread tomorrow then.?? :)

Please, no….

I predict the Apple site will go down late tonight to put up the new mac mini details! And that they will be available IMMEDIATELY as an apology for Apple taking so damn long and pissing us off.

Warning! My predictions are known for their optimism, not necessarily their accuracy :)

I wish you were correct. My mac mini upgrade sales are about zero on ebay. I think I did 1 sale on an upgraded mini since nov 2013.

Bottom line is no 4k tv no mini upgrade.
The mini was never meant to game. The 2012 mini with 4000hd is good enough for 1 1080p and apple is not moving .

Best case would be skip 2 generations of cpu and put a mini out in early 2015.

but they may do a small bump in june to a 4600 gpu. oh well

hey have we set a record oct to april 1 day is 17 or 18 months.

My 09 Minis are starting to feel a bit old. I'll be interested to see if a new Mini is released and whether the successor to Mavericks will run on my 09 Minis or not. If a new Mini is released I would certainly consider getting one.

Ouch! I never thought of this having an effect on your type of sales, but of course, naturally, it would. Let us pray :)

I will settle for nothing less than 4k capable (play and edit) with low thermals and noise.

It will at least be a 3 year refresh so Apple needs to get it right.

I agree that it could require a early 2015 launch with Broadwell.

Well it's Tuesday, again.

Perhaps it says something that Apple didn't even want to make an April 1st prank about a new mini coming out, because, well, it wouldn't be funny.

Still waiting.

I agree with you 100%. The question is when will those contributing to this hopeful haswell upgrade string give it up and realize the next mini will be broad well.

Ah figures I got tired of waiting for them to show up in the refurb section so I just bought new with stock SSD, oh well now I can get applecare later on and not have to worry about swapping out the HD if a problem happens and I need to take it in for service.

I would venture to guess that the thermals would not be that bad but the noise of all the fans running would.
Depends on what you're doing.

Just driving a 4k monitor isn't going the stress any part that can do it.

It's what you're doing to create what's going on the 4k monitor that will make a difference.

Video playback? Not a problem. The hardware video decoders on graphics chips these days are really efficient.
Video transcoding? The CPU is causing the load and it will require cooling.
3d graphics? The GPU is causing the load and it will require cooling.

Yep, thats why the Brix gets really noisy when at load on the Iris Pro IGPU.
Really throttles the fan up. Just playing 4k content is not a problem.

you think the mini is going to have 2 thunderbolt ports? since the new imacs and everything else but the air have 2 thunderbolt ports.

Yes, 2x Thunderbolt 2

Yes, 2 Thunderbolt 2 ports, since this is already Apple's directiion with the other Macs. The question is whether they continue the miniaturisation process, (certainly possible), and require expansion to be via Thunderbolt drives. If so, the new Mac Mini might be very thin and flat, but with dimensions to enable several Minis to be fitted into standard rack frames.

Almost certainly, since removing FireWire 800 should leave ample room for a second port. The only question mark is if the Mac Mini is redesigned, as if it does get smaller (or space for ports is reduced by a new shape) then there may not be room for a second port, but since many people will still have mini Displayport screens rather than fully Thunderbolt ones, a second Thunderbolt port is a must have to avoid having to stick your monitor on the end of a daisy chained set of devices.
