Hmm, I remembered seeing this a while back so I had to search for it.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7742/im-intelligent-memory-to-release-16gb-unregistered-ddr3-modules

This is when they were announced and they do have the part numbers available on their site right now:

http://www.intelligentmemory.com/dram-modules/ddr3-so-dimm/

However I don't see any US distributors on their site??

And after skimming that Anandtech article again theres mention of the 16 GB modules not being compatible with Intel processors. Which makes me wonder, then, how Intel puts on their spec sheet a 32 GB max with 2 channel memory when the processors don't support the 16 GB modules?

I think they will support 4 8gb sticks as in the IMac and rMBP.

since the last 2 months or so amazon.COM also is out of stock of Mac minis. only 1 (!) marketplace reseller still is listed at amazon.com with Mac minis in stock.

This must mean something. amazon is company that always wants to have all products in stock, so I think that Apple just can't deliver anymore because new models are coming soon

Wow I haven't been tracking them closely and didn't realize they have been out of stock that long. It has to be a sign. I order a ton of stuff from Amazon and when something popular goes out of stock it's usually replenished within days.

The Mac Mini is almost certainly coming this Tuesday. LOL.

Horsecrap. There's mac minis IN STOCK on amazon RIGHT NOW. you, sir, are a GabrieleR wannabe.

Likewise...evidence of them selling fairly quickly?

Retailers don't have many Minis in stock, which suggests they are selling what they do get fairly quickly.

The i5 Mini is currently ranked at 10 in the Amazon best seller list for desktops.

Second hand Minis hold their value quite well, which suggests that the market for them is strong.

nope.

In Stock.

Ships from and sold by DataVision Computer Video.

not sold by amazon.com

Exactly. Amazon does not have any inventory in their warehouse that specifically is sold by them. That's a strange phenomenon for one of the worlds largest retailers selling one of the worlds most popular brands.

thanks for the link.

this may be why broadwell cpu is delayed.

and a mini using 32gb ram I can't wait to get one.

Damn the wait is difficult; I thought I might go hackintosh with a Brix Pro, and transplant its parts into a better case with more cooling (to avoid the noise that is a major complaint of the Brix Pro), but it seems like it might be a lot more work than I had hoped as everything is on the motherboard (I had hoped that at the very least the power button would use a standard header, but the switch is physically on the board, requiring invention of a new means of pressing it in any alternate case, or removing and re-wiring it).

I'm now thinking of just abandoning hopes of Iris Pro and going all out on the quiet, compact front, e.g - getting a i7-4770T (quad-core, 2.6ghz, turbo 3.9ghz, 45W) and putting it in an Akasa Euler S case (the whole case functions as a fanless heatsink), which would give all the CPU power I want without any noise at all, but I'd be stuck with Intel's HD 4600 graphics (though that's still a lot better than the 4000 in the current minis). I would prefer not to lose graphics performance, and I guess I won't really due to better shader support, but I'll then pick up something like the upcoming Alienware Alpha to take over my gaming needs.

The problem is I just don't know whether to go ahead with it or not, as I can almost guarantee that the moment I do Apple will release an updated Mac Mini. In fact, I'm starting to suspect they may be monitoring my communications in order to decide when to release it…

I don't have too much hope for a major Mac Mini update. It is just not a key product and it makes more sense to shoehorn a low-end iMac which is not much more expensive and has a better screen than many low-end monitors.

I could use a Mini with 4K output for my TV system with Seiki 4K monitor. It upscales nicely now, but for true 4K I have to manually hook up my rMBP or nMP (not easy to move).

No, that does not make sense. It needs to be the mini, as it always has. People like it.

Where's the evidence?

How do you know that Apple are producing / selling very few Mac Minis?

However many are being produced, it seems they get sold fairly quickly.
Mine was an alternative explanation for the fact there is no stock currently at Amazon. IMO there is not a new coming arriving imminently.

The new Mac mini is almost certainly coming!
Tomorrow is Tuesday!

Just thought I'd get that out of the way. How else is this thread going to get to 3k posts?

Don't know about 3K posts, so here's post 2.3K instead.

I still believe the Mac mini is dead and will be replaced by the Mac nano.
