The nVidia Shield is only 8 months younger than the Wii U, so "Shield 2" hardware would likely be much better.

There's no way Nintendo could sell a TV-attachable console (Based on rumors) with graphical capabilities that are inferior to the Wii U. That would be a death sentence. Now if it is primarily a portable console, then I could see them do it, but there would likely be a lot of disappointed costumers.

But then again, if all else fails, we do have Mario Light on the iPhone soon anyway... :p

4K *is* UHD. And 4K streaming is very technically difficult to implement, so I would expect it. For gaming, I am very satisfied if they can hit 1080p@60 for all games with PS4 level graphics, which should also be doable with current technology and a small enclosure.

Prepare for the WiiU2U!
Standard 4K = 4096 × 2160
UHD = 3840 x 2160

4K is not UHD as is well known. The only people/companies that interchange 4K and UHD are doing it incorrectly as both are totally different things.

Not at all. The 3DS customers would love a more powerful portable console.

The NX is a 3DS2, not a WiiU2.

DS 3DS compatible and main screen can be a large TV and I'm happy.... :)

makes sense - can play all your DS/3DS games and downloads on it , multiplayer via a person bringing over their handheld and that would be awesome...
[doublepost=1476285705][/doublepost]Here's the latest rumors on it:

$299 & $399? Same prices as XBox One S/Scorpio and PS4/PS4 Pro?

What are they on?

Exactly. The Nintendo NX/Duo has to go up against Xbox One S and PS4/PS4 Pro now. At the same prices as those other systems I don't see that working out too well for Nintendo.
Can the PS4 and XB1 be used on the train and other places on the go? Nope.
Will people pay for portable? That's what Nintendo is betting the farm on.

After trying and failing to use my ipad as a portable console, I really hope the NX is a portable console of sorts. The fact Apple has never released an official game controller and mfi controllers are always borked after a major ios update, Apple is not interested in providing a comfortable gaming experience.

If it is a hybrid console, I hope the docking part comes with a controller. Having pretty much missed out on the Wii U in its entirety, I want that true home console experience, with the option of taking it out with me if I so choose.

The iPad actually fails as a console because a lack of physical buttons. You can't rest you fingers on virtual button without actually pressing them like you can with physical buttons. The iPad is the world's best touch screen device that can't make phone calls. But as a portable game's console, it's only good for games specifically made for touch screens. The Nintendo 3DS is a better portable console

I want that too. The majority however do not. They just want a better 3DS. The majority of Nintendo's customers own a 3DS and not a WiiU.

I've always wanted a 3DS, yet felt the resolution was too low for me to like it. I am hoping this new thing will greatly increase that, which may actually make me consider it. If the main focus is portability, that is.

If it ends up being merely a better 3DS and detachable controllers, then I'll happily be a generation behind and pick up a Wii U at a reduced price.

This is what irks me about the 3DS. The low resolution screen is such a let down when personally i'm used to hi resolution screens of mobile phones and even the Vita (which isn't in HD). They do have some great games though.

But "HD" is just a marketing term. It doesn't exist in tech like that. The DPI is like 222 which is very good, considering the OLED Vita display eradicates visual dotpitch.

I've never felt the 3DS display has been a let down, it's great in 3D. All I wanted from the New 3DS was forced anti-aliasing on all games just to smooth out the display a little. But it never prevented me from enjoying games on it.

(I mean I'm still playing games on GBA, Gameboy, etc hardware so I'm not really bothered by anything outside of art direction and how fun the game is)

Genuine shame. You're missing out on incredible games.

I know. I borrowed a 3DS from a friend and had a blast. But I am going through the same issue with my Wii, which have a few unplayed games. But 480p on a 50" is just not as enjoyable as 1440p on my 27" iMac. It is just too blurry.

Quite excited! Getting big flashbacks to when the Wii was announced in 2005
and just how bizarre it was! Hope they're all mysterious about it and not just too blatant with Reggie just sat in a chair talking.
