I had a switch but then most of the games that I played on it was also on my iPad with better graphics. I was like nope this has to go lol
I play pretty much zero games on my iPad as I hate having to fish out a controller and pair it etc etc etc plus zero first party Nintendo games on the iPad so not even worth a comparison really - I am a gamer and apple has ALWAYS sucked for games for so so so many reasons - no wonder N destroyed this generation....

From my first gen iPhone to now they are no better.....I suppose they really dont care about gaming on Mac / iOS
I'm somewhere in between! I end up using both back and forth...

iPad has a lot of digital board games, and "run of the mill" games. Games that work well with a touch screen are here as well. Last but not least, 10.2" screen is much better than 6.2"

OTOH, the quality of games are overall better on Switch. Access to Nintendo first party games, many ports, and 3rd party fare. Having actual controllers is nice

I hope the switch 2 will have backwards compatability.

It would be awesome to play
Zedla Tears of the Kingdom at more stable frame rate.

If not, Nintendo will likely milk us for a remaster in 3-5 years 😂

I think that is a reasonable ask per se and they could deliver it given the back compatibility question solved.

But of course Switch is no PC - back in the day i got top of the line PC and new series of GTA was released 2 years later. My 2 year old PC played on medium settings and new PCs would definitely play that in ultra settings. I am glad that there are no problems like this to be had on Switch.

I'd love to see Borderlands 4 on the new console, fingers crossed. DLSS currently is better then AMD's FSR that's for sure.

DLSS is magical and a mature technology. It doesn't need training on a game level. However I don't think Nintendo would feel the need to make the tech backwards compatible with older switch titles.

Nintendo have made a fortune over the years from making people buy a remastered version of the same game on 3-4 generations of consoles.

Isn’t that the truth! Well we’ve had some new games this year though. I haven’t got any though as I find the Switch Lite a bit too small now. No point buying anything else as I knew a new system was coming. Lots of people still claiming it’ll be revealed this month, along with some new packs. Nintendo won’t reduce the Switch price but instead plans to bundle free games with the OG Switch to shift stock.

I see Echoes is out in the wild - I have it on order but I will def nab the ROM to play later in 4x rez via the wonders of Ryujinx !

Photos of the Switch 2 have allegedly leaked. It looks like I expected, extremly similar to the Switch 2 with a few minor cosmetic changes.

If it aint broke, don't fix it. After the Wii and Wii U, I think the Nintendo nailed it. Looking forward to reveal and game play examples because the specs don't tell us much about ai powered graphical improvements.

Never stop underestimating Nintendos ability to shoot itself in the foot......I mean all of us just want a Switch 2 right which seems bloomin obvious to everyone how good that could be if it gets up to PS4 level graphics etc but N could just go completely left-field....

Yeap read all about it yesterday, here in the UK we knew before a fair few places in the US due to time differences, the CAD files are fake, made by the leaker themselves, but the casings they showed are reportedly real. I like it myself, just a bigger, Switch.
Be nice if Nintendo came out and revealed it already though instead of just a blanket radio silence.

Is that technically possible? I suppose the Steam Deck is at that level? But even then, you'd have to worry about battery life, price, etc. Just seems to be a difficult compromise to balance is all.

PS5 Pro shows that nvidia were ahead of their time when they decided to develop dlss and frame gen.

From the look of things even a 50/70% CPU and GPU performance + AI could deliver meaningful improvements for the switch 2.

I wonder if the architecture will have current gen features such as real time asset streaming from ssd to RAM.

Sorry but couldnt wait so now playing echoes via rjujinx om my m2 mac and boy is it great !
Looks like Nintendo is ending Ryujinx :(

I really hope the next switch comes out soon. I stopped playing Tears of the Kingdom and not going to pick it back up until I can play it again with better quality and framerate.

Is it happening though until they release the remastered hd version at least for switch2?

That is a big assumption that the Switch 2 will have backwards compatibility AND also include some sort of performance boost for older titles.

Backwards compatibility is one thing compared to their biggest title. I’d gladly pay for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom again. I do not like the quality of the current version. Especially the initial area.

If this doesn’t happen I’m just done with Nintendo. If they won’t let me emulate to get higher performance and Switch 2 doesn’t address this then they lose me as a customer. Tears was the worst looking great game I have ever seen.

Well they are blocking as many emulators as they can it seems, and as this is Nintendo I think they will place backwards compatibility behind a paywall. Or sell you remastered versions of the same games as before at full price.

They supported GBA carts on the OG DS, along with supporting Wii games on the Wii U, so it is possible.
Yes, most likely they will support. But no one should expect fps/resolution/texture quality upgrades - it will run just like on switch 1. Only help should be stable fps with no dips, but the game designed for 30 would not start running at 60.

Yeah they'll do an "Apple" and charge 40 quid for a 60fps remaster of all the old triple A switch titles !

As we MR lot are generally a moany bunch I must say - I got my pro controller day 1 switch release and it's still perfect ! I use if for all my iOS and Mac gaming too and its by far the best controller I have ever used.

Kudos N !
