Have we already discussed microSD cards?
are you guys going digital or physical?
Whats the rush is physical out of curiosity? Debating getting a 128gb but might wait too, the Evo Select 128gb Samsung is $40 when in stock on amazon and has been for sometime, which is a re-branded Evo Plus, one of if not the highest regarded card.
But Im torn aside from peace of mind since the plan is to go physical as much as possible except where I can't (Indies)
Same as you. I'm in no rush just yet to buy memory cards just yet though until there are enough games out to warrant it. But I may end up doing it for my Switch in future, as that is how I like doing it on the 3DS, as it means carrying less stuff with you. (My 3DS just goes in my pocket on its own, and I've got everything I need). But on the Switch though, you already have to bring a tonne of extra stuff with you just to carry it anyway, and I've got a whole tonne of ways now to bring physical cartridges. (probably way more than I'll even need in a very long time). For example, both switch console travel cases I bought both come with their own way to carry cartridges. But on top of that, I also bought the Zelda Cartridge holder from Hori to go in the top pocket of my Orzly case, as while I do sometimes still use the built in pockets that console cases have for games, and I've never even once had a problem doing that, I do still prefer using physical plastic cartridge holders rather than using the built in cartridge pockets that the travel cases have (as it's technically better for the exposed electrical connectors than them rubbing up against the fabric of built in pockets). So the built in pockets I only use for my less important games, and for my favorite games I just feel more conformable in a physical housing to make 100% sure I'll never screw them up and lose all my game progress. (never happened yet though, touch wood).
However, since my Blue Sheikah Eye case finally came last week (after getting stuck in customs all that time), I've since discovered that the cartridge cases that the Sheikah Eye case came with are much much better to use then the Hori One I bought, so I might not even use it. Not only does the closing mechanism of the free ones with the sheikah case feel alot less vulnerable, but from a size point of view they're just way more space efficient.
As you'll be able to see from the pictures below, while the Hori Cartridge holder does still fit in the top pocket of the Orzly case just fine, doing so gives me less room for other things. Whereas, if I use the much thinner and smaller plain blue cartridge cases that came with my Sheikah Eye case inside the top pocket of the Orzly case, I've got room for absolutely tonnes of stuff. So this is how I think I'm going to do it from now on.
From all the photos I just took, the the Sheikah Eye travel case is the one on the right, and the Orzly travel case is the one on the left.
The Hori cartridge case is the big one with the picture of Link in his archery pose on it, and the smaller plain blue ones are the ones that come with the Sheikah Eye case. (notice how the difference in size is quite major)
For the Travel cases themselves though, there are quite a few similarities between both the Sheikah Eye Case and the Orzly case (for example, they are both padded extremely well, and notice how they are pretty much identical in size on the outside). When you open them up and see what you can fit inside though, that's when you realize that they're quite different.
As you can see from the first photo, The Sheikah Eye case doesn't have a top pocket at all, and the Hori Cartridges Cases definitely won't fit in there with your switch in it. (The lid won't even close when doing that btw, not even if you force it). So using that one you have no other choice but to use the better smaller cartridge holders it comes with (which sit neatly underneath the switch in a special cutaway section, so for cartridges it's just fine) but other than that and maybe a USB cable in the middle flap, that's all that will go in it. So unfortunately this now means I can't use it for storing my amiibos in like I was originally planning to do. (and definitely no room for extra sets of joycons).
As you can see from the 2nd photo, the Orzly case on the left having a really big top pocket means I can fit the Hori Cartridge Case in just fine with everything else in it. (so I still had room for two joycon straps, a cable, and my portable battery pack, and could still fit other stuff in there too easily if I wanted to). But this was actually not the best combination.
The most space efficient method is how I did it in Photo 3, where I used the smaller plain blue cartridge cases that came with my Sheikah eye case inside the top pocket my Orzly case instead of the Hori one. Doing that, I could fit everything I had in it before, only this time I still had ample room left for an extra set of joycons. (without having to take my cable or battery pack out in order to do it. -The joycons do still fit bedside the hori cartridge holder if I took other stuff out, but as you can see, the setup in photo 3 is still a far superior way of doing it, as it fits literally everything without having to sacrifice anything, and the whole case closes perfectly like that without any force). So this combination was by far the most space efficient of all the ways I tried.
(of course if you go the digital download method for games, you won't even need any cartridge cases at all, so if the switch game lineup gets massive, that's always an option too, but definitely no need just yet).
Speaking of extra joycons though, anyone seen the new yellow ones that Nintendo announced will be coming out in June when ARMS is released? Wasn't sure I liked the color at first, but I must admit, they're starting to grow on me.
