So! I'm not around as much as I used to be, partly due to the Switch :D

Picked up Wondergirl a few days ago, having never played a Wonderboy game before. I thought it looked outstanding so I bought it on screenshots alone... and boy what a treat that is! I've already played it on Normal, partner is currently playing through. It's the first time we've played one and didn't know what to expect. More of this!

Also playing through Kamiko and adventuring through Zelda hunting all the pieces to upgrade my armour.

Update on the bendy console - it hasn't got any worse. I do wonder if they ship like this. But oh well! If it becomes a problem later I'm sure Nintendo will fix it (like they did my DS Lite and Wii U).

Still eyeing up a Pro controller. I don't really need it I guess. I'm just trying to find ways of making lengthy Switch plays more comfortable.

But OH! One thing you must get is a tablet stand! I bought one off Amazon (Tyrone brand), built for iPads but they've labelled them as fitting the Switch too. And it's amazing. I'm sure there are many varieties of this type, but mine has a clamp that I've got attached to a table by a sofa. It has a bendy neck so I just wrestle it into place, open its jaws and put the Switch in. And boom... got a super comfy way of playing Switch.

Pro controller is comfy af for lengthy plays.

I love it but don't use it all the time but still so glad I have it I like options. Mostly docked only, sometimes with the stand and my face close to it but I do handheld or docked and handheld like 80 percent of the time with Zelda and other nindies

That may change with MK8 deluxe

As for comfort,

I tried pdp gel guard for joycon didn't like it because the buttons are right next to the cut outs And it feels almost flush and mushy

Got this black pair by a different company should be here tomorrow that has a nice gap between cut out and buttons should feel better. Has a raised back too which I did find comfortable ergonomically on PDP. Silicone isn't my favorite material by any means but for 10 bucks whatever. And this is more to make my grey joycons look black than it will be to mostly conceal my Neon blue pair:

I'll report back when I get them-

Edit- dropped a buck lol they're 8.99 now and 8.59 for the red/blue combo

Oh! And as for the digital/cart discussion... I started off buying a mix of the two with the Vita but since then I'm preferring convenience over all else. I paid £50 (I think it was) for Lego City Underground as a download when stores had it as low as £35. In time the Vita made me realise I want all my content available all the time... which is why I had to buy that IIRC 64gb card for it and rebuy all my carts! oops!

So yeah. Full priced digital downloads for games I really want, or I'll just wait for when they're on sale. Also I really like how the main Switch menu shows 10 games, and the rest appearing in that "All Games" page. Keeps it nice and organised. I hope they add folders or 'fave games' in time.

(After that Nintendo Direct I am SO pumped for Arms and Splatoon 2. I love how they've deconstructed fight games and FPS games and reformed them in Nintendo's own image)

I'm trying to go all digital for Switch since it's so handy and portable. Some of the physical releases that are coming out look so enticing, though. Then there's the Amazon Prime savings with physical editions but not digital editions, so that pushes me further in the physical camp. Decisions!

I think for MK8 Deluxe I'm going with digital so I have a BOTW and MK portable. After that, I'll probably do SFII as digital as well, but the physical edition looks like such a nice package. I wish Nintendo would let us download the digital version with a code if you buy a physical version. They could tie it to the cart via code or something so that you're not having to lug around all these carts.

This black grip looks sweet!

this is kinda fun, black+blue:

and honestly feels comfy, thin on right and good grip on left (I'm left handed so I hold more weight with my left hand naturally, and thats how I hold onto the switch when one-handing it (can't play one handed though of course)

Watched DigitalFoundry's analysis&comparison of the that Lego game. Surprisingly, the Switch version seems to hold up pretty well to the PS4 version, and shockingly surpass it some ways. (Im not particularly interested in the title myself, but I enjoy the visual fidelity comparisons between systems).

Cheers

Yeah I ended up buying it on both. Tbh handheld mode is still little unstable framerate wise, but docked its very comparable when viewed in isolation.

probably the slowest and cheapest int'l mail from UK to US.

just checked and its here (finally)! good thing I wasn't holding my breath

I like the double zippers, its discreteness, its about same size as sheikah slate tho and tho it is more snug than sheikah slate with the mold for the system and elastic bands, the elastic bands already seem... annoying to take device in and out.

I feel like they all serve a purpose
Nintendo official- light travel, short commutes
Sheikah- collection for sure, sometimes heavy duty travel
Orzly- heavy duty travel/ want to bring a charger locally

I think its very underrated, personally, but I love my Nintendo official case. its like half the thickness, and stores 5 games, and doubles as a case-stand, too

sure u can't store literally anything else, but thats ok for what it is

Minimal protection too, this is like a laptop neoprene sleeve with an interesting texture on top, not a hard shell or anything, but I use a neoprene sleeve (though with a handle) for my 13 "rMBP and have for some time when I had rMB too,

I also like the double zippers, and I found this method to be best for storing it even though its technically backwards (switch logo on backside instead of front side), but having the stand/game holder on top of screen (non-game side against screen) provides a nice buffer,

It being underneath the system, in its normal fashion of the 'right way' to store it, causes joystick dimples to bulge out. definitely sketch, not gonna be doing that. (see last pic in the top left of case)

Thanks for showing me the photos! (I was always curious about how the stand part worked) I'd heard many people mention that it did this before, but as companies never show you all the bits you want to see on the actual amazon pages, it's kinda hard to tell until you speak to people who actually own them. So thanks for doing such a great job of the photos. Always helpful to be able to see stuff up close! How does it clip on mate? Does it just sort of rest on top, or is there some kind of mechanism to keep it stable when it's standing?

No problem

It just sorta stays on there no mechanism or anything.

The foot of the stand slides/rests into the side zipper area and it's nice and stable. And the other zipper area (where zipper is away from device safely) acts as kind of a resting lip to keep it secure in the front where the switch is

I dunno how well I've described that but hope it helps

I can well imagine a merging of handheld and home consoles, or at least some option at remote playing big games on their New 3DS and some way of beaming handheld games onto a TV.

From 2015 :D gonna grab a cold beer and have a read through the old pages here this evening... should be fun! (thanks to everyone for keeping it all in this thread too. Makes it much easier to find old posts)

Got my Switch yesterday!

Always asked, why not a portable game system that's dock-able like the PowerBook Duo?

Nintendo NAILED IT....

Wow, between the Switch and the PSVR I just got, I'm two-for-two (though my pocketbook is a lot lighter...) ;)

Enjoying Fast RMX and Graceful Explosion Machine (Defender-like game)...

Idt I can hold out anymore. With MK8 coming out this week, it's becoming unbearable. Reading through this thread doesn't help either haha. I'm hoping some places will have some stock on Friday with the MK8 release.

Counting down to MK8 this Friday!!!!!!!!!

I didn't pick it up on the Wii U so I am ecstatic to finally get to it on the Switch.

I am a little disappointed as they have everything unlocked from the beginning but will work through the stages I guess in another way.

Yknow I can't remember the start of MK8 but maybe everything was unlocked originally? I do remember slogging through to unlock all the upgrades.

BUT

What a game. You're in for a treat. They've perfected the Mario Kart formula now and I don't know how they're going to top it.

From what i have read it wasn't unlocked on the Wii U and is being touted as a "feature" in the Deluxe version. I mean I get it but for someone who missed out on the prior version it takes away that sense of accomplishment and earning through the levels of the game.

Wont stop me from playing it nonstop and enjoying the new battle modes which look fantastic

After about a month, I'm enjoying the Switch and have no issues with the hardware or power of the product.

However, I have to say that I am really disappointed with the lack of AAA third party titles(or announcements) on the platform. I expected it to an extent, but it's truly a shame that after almost 2 months since this fairly popular new console launched, there's no "major" title from any of the big publishers. I'm glad indies/Nindies are making a good showing and putting some effort into getting original content onto the platform.

Cheers

I think most of them are waiting to see if it will fail like the Wii U. And E3 is around the corner, so I assume we'll get a few announcements there.

Can't blame them after the WiiU, and yeah they could be holding back announcements for E3! A new hope! :D

Are they really all unlocked or is it just the DLC characters that are unlocked?

Either way, very excited. Got my preorder and will be picking up tomorrow. And I get my air pods on Saturday too! Lots of new toys for me to play with this weekend.

Everything is unlocked minus certain cart add ons.

Funny, I just ordered a pair of Airpods as well. Do they work with the Switch?

Super excited for MK8 on Friday!

At this time no. The Nintendo Switch does not work with Bluetooth headphones, at least not without a headphone to bluetooth adapter. This may be added at a later time with a software update, but there are no current plans that I'm aware of regarding bluetooth headphones/headsets.

Picked up Mario Kart using Amazon.co.jp yesterday. It's ace! Loads of new little things that weren't announced. It's wonderful. Just going to spend this long weekend setting time trial records :)
What I don't like is how I can't easily see how I'm doing against friends online. In fact, it'd be lovely if Nintendo handed the menus over to Polyphony Digital to really get some numbers and stats in our faces!

But still. It's amazing.
