Picked up Mario Kart using Amazon.co.jp yesterday. It's ace! Loads of new little things that weren't announced. It's wonderful. Just going to spend this long weekend setting time trial records :)
What I don't like is how I can't easily see how I'm doing against friends online. In fact, it'd be lovely if Nintendo handed the menus over to Polyphony Digital to really get some numbers and stats in our faces!

But still. It's amazing.

Why Amazon.co.jp ?

Got that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe digital woo,

so great on the 6.2" screen, sublime!
This is the one game that I would prefer digital, as I did on my Wii U. No need to swap disc or cartridge whenever the need arises for a quick race. If I remember correctly, I redeemed MK8 on my Wii U with earned Nintendo rewards. I miss the old reward system so much.

I just hate that discounts never apply to digital version, so I'll sit this one out until I somehow can get a discount on it :D

Was just going to ask the same thing! Did Japan have an earlier release date?

Amazon uk seems to have had their stock in early, as they dispatched mine last night and it came this morning (even though it's not technically even supposed to be released until tomorrow). Fastest Amazon delivery I ever had, I was well surprised! (even more impressive given that it got from UK to Greece in that time. -This is definitely a first!)
But it's true! Look at the postmark...

Not complaining though! My daughter's playing it right now as we speak though, as she hogged it the moment it got here, so looks like I've still gotta wait until it's my turn when I finish work! lol

If you set up a Japanese Amazon account (with fake address info but real credit/debit info), you can change the language of the page to English, buy digital downloads easily, and register them on a Japanese eShop account. All in all it cost me less too, £45 compared to IIRC 50 directly on the eShop. The game is no different to buying it directly from the uk shop or another code vendor.

Alternatively you can buy eShop vouchers on the co.jp site and get games that way. That's how I got Kamiko :)

Presumably because it released in JP eShop before US?

And gettin gift cards for eshop from amazon JP is the easiest way to spend on eshop JP
Gift cards are great for small games, but some of the bigger games can be bought directly.

This region free stuff is excellent.

Mine should show up today.

Was dispatched Wednesday.

Strangely giddy to play it despite absolutely caning it on the Wii U.
Although part of me is excited as it gives me reason to play on my Switch for silly lengths of time again! :D

Oh also, y'all can add me to your friends list if you want?!
I'm Aneres11... in case you hadn't guessed!

Yeah I dunno how much I'll be using the region free perks but it is indeed a phenomenal thing

I got Kamiko 2 weeks ago. A 5 dollar indie that's just came out the other day om US store.

At the time no one knew if it would hit other markets or not

So much jealousy and the painstaking clock watching to go pick up MK8 at BB after work!!!!

I know what I will be doing all weekend.

I feel like Mario kart 8 deluxe is an excellent benchmark of the switch screen

The BOTW unique color scheme may have led people to believe the screen is washed at times

And 2d indies aren't always the best benchmark

I've been wow'd by how good it looks (and fluid frame rate wise)

But of course it's an excellent game SO fun

Nintendo knocked it out of the park with a game with infinite replay value

Fast RMX is awesome, compared to the Wii U version, or any racer for that matter.

The only Anti-Grav Racting Game that would be better than Fast RMX, at this stage in consoles, would be WipEout Omega for the PS4 (*fingers crossed* for PSVR version)...

I was returning something at Best Buy at lunch today, and they had some Switches in stock. I was tempted to get one, but I'm already playing Zelda:BOTW on Wii-U and have MK8 for that already as well. Maybe when Splatoon 2 comes out, I'll pick up a Switch, though I'm a bit leery of Nintendo's upcoming paid online subscription service.

Lots of folks came into Best Buy while I was there to pickup MK8 and other Switch stuff, makes me think Switch will do pretty well in the long run.

Totally understand if you've already driven it into the ground and don't want to double dip but
Do you already have MK8 DLC?

Deluxe May be worth it for that improved battle mode and ability to carry two items.

And those DLC maps coming up often for online play since they're baked in vs a select gaming crowd investing in DLC and it not coming up often.

Though all levels and characters are unlocked coins earn ya vehicles (and stuff?) too

Plus... 1080@60fps locked when docked. Woo
720@60 locked when not docked is pretty nice too

Even though dreamcast is sega and MK is Nintendo I'm getting crazy good dreamcast 1999 vibes In terms of fun-ness

No, never got the DLC. I haven't played MK8 in a long while and never committed enough time to even unlock all of the base content.

I will definitely re-buy MK8, NOT IF, but WHEN I get a Switch. I'm just waiting for more games to come out for it and for Nintendo to work out any and all hardware bugs before I get one.

You might want to take advantage of the trade-ins available for the Switch and games while the Wii U and games are still worth some money...

Trade in prices will plummet once people find out that Switches are now plentiful and the system is actually, in my opinion, BETTER than what people and the industry is saying.

Good luck!

No way in hell I'm selling my Wii-U! As a matter of fact, I'm taking advantage of clearance sales and picking up MORE games for it on the cheap.

I actually think the Wii-U has one of the best libraries of games from Nintendo in a long while. Also, they did not make a whole lot of Wii-U's (13.5 million), so these could very well be hard to find someday.

OMG. The difference 1080p 60fps makes to an already good looking game. Seriously of every switch first party game could stride to achieve this I would be in 7th heaven.

If you are a fan of the Wii U - then you're better off just using that until there a enough games you want to play that are on the Switch only...

Are 1st party Wii U games gonna be on clearance or more desirable over time since harder to find when it's discontinued (if it isnt already , it is right? BOTW was last new game)

That'll depend on what gets ported to Switch. Ones that are ported (like BOTW or MKW) probably won't hold their value. Something like Bayonetta 2 will probably hold a very high value.

So much for that hope.. the empire stoke back. Why Nintendo Why?

http://www.techradar.com/news/surpr...wont-be-hosting-a-press-conference-at-e3-2017
Nintendo hasn't done a press conference at E3 for a few years now. They did do some Nintendo Directs around the time of E3, but not a full on regular press conference like what Sony and Microsoft still do.

I wouldn't be too worried. Nintendo operates on their own wavelength now and I'm sure they'll have stuff to show around E3 time, just maybe not as part of the event itself.

Yesterday we had a 4 player at my parents house, so there's myself and then 3 people who have never played console games before. Those new assist features are SO brilliant! I'm loving all the little features they've added in too. I'm sure more will show their face as I progress through.

The Switch, at this point in its life, is probably my fave console ever. Not just the games but the handheld and docked functionality are great.
