This model is a pleasant surprise because (and this was not a given at all) you can get both

- the new sexy slim and light design
- the new amazing screen
- tb3 ports and 5K 60Hz external monitor

AND

- the ESC key and the F-keys

I repeat, this was not a given. Hope a similar non-touchbar model is available in the next generations as well and the touchbar never trickles down to the cheapest MBP.

This is a godsend for geeks who wanna have an "ultimate" laptop with all the keys even in linux and windows.

A maxed out one (except ssd, 512GB is enough) would be my current dream laptop for daily light workload.

No dedicated graphics, the only downside to that machine.

still loving the crap out of my 13" nTB

but there are days on end I dont use my laptop, since I want to just use phone or tablet after being on a pc all day

I have noticed a problem with the arrow below. To the left does not respond and from the middle to the right work. Has anyone this problem and got it fixed in apple?

Grabbed the nTB 13" for $1250 at BB, to replace my 2013 MBA, mainly to get a better screen (the low contrast web site designs these days and tired eyes don't mix). What is funny is its darn near the same size as my wife's 11" MBA. So I look at it as the next generation MBA (with retina), and call it a nice upgrade.

in a lot of ways, the nTB 13" Pro feels like a direct replacement to the MBA.

the 12" rMB was a half step replacement/regression/standstill on performance (depending on which model you came from). But I still loved mine for 2 years,

I'm almost at the 5 month mark with the nTB MBP and I'm enjoying it just as much as when I got it. It still sits at my desk most of the time but the past few weeks I've had to travel a bit and have taken it for work and it's been awesome. Great battery life, fantastic screen, fast SSD, and function keys! After using it for these months I'm pleased that it has successfully replaced my 12" MB and 15" 2012 MBP and it's very refreshing to use only one Mac notebook instead of two.

I totally agree with this - the battery is simply outstanding.

I ended up ordering this one after it popped up on sale in Norway (still expensive enough).

What's the experience when it comes to games like Dota 2 ? That's pretty much the only games i'll play on it, anything else and it'll be on my stationary or console.

$1299.99 at Best Buy is that good deal?

Depends. I swear by Apple refurbs and you can get one now for $1,269 (assuming you're talking USD). I'm in Canada and just picked one up refurb. Even though it sucks our dollar is a bit lower these days, Apple is giving us a pretty fair shake in the exchange rate. I paid $1,609 CAD for a refurb of the Oct 2016 Function Key version, which works out to about $1,200 USD at current exchange.

I believe the 1299 is brand new; I noticed they have the refurbs for 1195, I believe those still come with the standard Apple Warranty as well.

After having the Touch Bar version since the first day they came out, I can now confidently say that I would prefer my laptop without the Touch Bar. I just don't use it at all and I miss the physical keys, not to mention the fact that I occasionally hit the Touch Bar accidentally which causes all sorts of unwanted things to happen.

However...

I could now never give up Touch ID on the laptop. It's incredibly convenient and has become one of my must-have features. I'm really hoping that Apple comes out with a non-TB version that has Touch ID integrated into the power button, but unfortunately I don't see that being very likely. I would sell this one and switch to that model in a heartbeat.

Curious - what do you need / use touchid for that makes it so useful? As an owner of an Apple Watch, my laptop is already unlocked with me being near it when i open the lid, so that doesn't count (for me).

Get a refurb from Apple instead. For $1269, you get a refurbished computer that's been inspected tooth and nail by an Apple Tech, not some geek squad guy at BB. And if Apple finds problems, they fix them 150% before they sell the thing, so you're assured of getting a better than brand new computer with a full one-year warranty. And it's boxed back up to look factory new!! Can't beat that with a stick! I actually trust Apple reburbs more than I trust brand new. I've bought many over the years, and they've always been first class! Do it!

I believe the 1299 is for a brand new one at Best Buy; I am actually wondering spending the extra 200 for a TB one is worth it over the Best buy nTB.

Exactly, so that's why i wrote it doesnt count for me but obviously for all the others. Im just trying to find out what else it's good for. Apple Pay (im from Germany) - again doesn't count as it's still not launched here.

Just got the 2016 no touchbar after my 2015 baseline pro broke.

Was unsure whether to buy a brand new 2015 baseline pro or pay an extra £200 for the baseline 2016 (the touchbar never really appealed to me). Have to say though I'm really really happy with the decision to spend an extra £200 on the new pro. Perfect size, stunning screen and so far its seems very smooth. Biggest improvement over last years model for me is how silent the fans are. When I played a few games on stream on last years model the fans would kick in instantly, on this mac there silent.

Will have to get used to the new butterfly keys and i was really apprehensive about such a large trackpad but the palm rejection seems pretty good. I do miss the mac safe charger though.

Got my nTB MacBook Pro yesterday and so far I'm really impressed. I absolutely love the quality of the screen and the sound from the speakers is awesome. Performance seems fine for what I need it for, and I'm really liking the keyboard. It's a little bit noisy but feels really comfortable to type on and I feel like I can type quicker than ever before. Tried working unplugged today and the battery reduced to 60% after about 4 hrs of work, so I'm expecting 10 hrs+. Combine this with the solid, lightweight build and it's pretty much my perfect laptop.
