I ordered my rev B 20" 400Gb etc at about 3 mins after the store came up on Tues - and it just says "Open". Does that mean it hasn't been assembled yet??
Apple called to check address yesterday - i suppose i just got my hopes up.
:(

Happened to me one time ... the order stayed open longer than feasibly normal, then they rung to tell me my credit card details were wonky. Your order should be okay pretty pronto.

Well, gladly, I can join this thread. :D

In the post: one 17-inch iMac with a 1.8GHz G5, 250GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM. I can't wait, it's actually gonna be my first ever iMac. I've always been a bit more of a PowerMac man to be honest, but the new iMacs are one sweet deal.

I'm feeling pretty confident that they will ship tomorrow or Friday, as I think most Apple stores are expecting to have them by the weekend, or Monday at the latest. So unless they way underestimated the demand and simply don't have enough for everyone who ordered, I bet they will be on their way to us by the weekend.

I was kind of hoping to have mine by Friday though (I paid for 2day shipping), as I have meetings all day Monday and Tuesday so I wouldnt even be able to hook it up until Tuesday night or Wednesday afternoon. Torture!

lol...it's an iMac...take it out of the box, plug it in, boot it up. you can't find 2.1 minutes in between those meetings? :D

me, i'm quasi stalking the Soho store...i must have immediate satisfaction.

Just talked to my local Apple Store. Their words: "Come by tonight, we will have them."

I could have my iMac today!!! It's been almost four years since my switch and I can't wait to get my 2nd Mac!

Anybody else getting similar answers?

I just called one of the Apple stores in CT, and they only had the 17" superdrive ones. I'm not sure if that's all they have received so far, or if the others sold out already.

IN MY HANDS!

Got mine...Tekserve in Manhattan got 18 of them in today (no 20 inchers yet). That's ok, I just needed the base 17 for now. And I have it. Now, to find a cab at 5:00, cause I'm not hauling this thing home on the 6 train!

Apple Shadyside got a few 17'' superdrive models - and I'm an owner!!! New switcher too. :D  As soon as I saw the upgrade, I just knew it was time.

My only hesitation is whether I might not regret ordering online so I could upgrade from 160GB to 250GB...but surely that can be done easily enough when it's actually needed?

yes...the hard drive, optical drive, ram, BT, airport cards are all 'user serviceable'. just go into the support section on apple.com and then navigate your way to the iMac G5 page. all kinds of info on doing these conversions.

Checking the stores around my area and so far they only have the 17inch unit in stock.

Stores I checked:
University Village in Seattle, WA
Bellevue Square in Bellevue, WA
Southcenter in Tukwila, WA

It seems like everyone who has had theirs shipped from Apple online, or who has bought one in a store, has gotten a 17". Sounds like they are behind in general on the 20".

Nationwide or just your local store?

I think its nation wide - since I've talked to the Chicago Flagship store and the Indianapolis store. If anyone is going to get the 20" iMac first, its going to be the big stores....

Where'd it ship from? I ordered precisely at 5:51 AM PDT the day they were announced and I still have 'processing order' estimated ship of May 6th or earlier.

Did you order a 17" or 20"?

Weird

Well I ordered at around 6:30 am PDT on the day of announcement, and my order went:

1. Order Recived
2. Processing Order
3. Sent to Manufacturing
4. Back to Processing Order! Huh?

When I looked at the "View Order" page on the Apple Store it showed my original order as "Replaced with new product" even though I ordered the new iMac 20" (with 400 Gig drive).

Nothing has changed in the list between the first item and the second order except the title (slightly):

From IMAC 20/2.0/SD CTO to IMACG5 20/2.0GHZ/SD CTO.

I phoned Apple and asked what is going on, and they said "nothing" and that the machine should still ship on or before the 10th (original estimation date).

Someone on the Apple support boards claims the Cleveland store has both 17" and 20".

I ordered a 17 in. I ckecked with the FEDEX website and it says shipping info recieved. I ordered just the basic model, no extras. (installing HD and memory myself) Also, its shipping via Fedex Ground so I assune that the new iMacs are already in the states.
