I'm waiting, simply because I'm a patient kind a guy - and I'm interested to see what's revealed. Leopard will show the roadmap for the future, and while I can't see much that would change my purchase decision, you never know. Certainly the picture will be much clearer.

And it's only a few days ffs. :)

I'm *not* waiting because I think I might get free stuff or anything of that sort - it's simply to make a more informed purchase decision - simple as that.

The more I think about it, the more I think I may want to go ahead and place my order tomorrow. Even with an upgrade to the 160 5400RPM drive, the ship time is 1-3 days. If I order tomorrow, I'll likely get it next week.

Hmm, any chance I'll have it by the weekend if I order on Monday?

Been a while since I've had this much anticipation.

Pretty much the same here. I listed some reasons I was waiting in my first post, but I really don't expect to get free stuff either. It just seems safer to wait the extra 6 days. I've already waited, like, 6 months -- (and no, I'm not exaggerating), so what the heck...

Anyone know if Apple stores have them in stock? I'll see you in the NH Apple store on Monday, falsecathedrals :D (I'll definitely be calling ahead of time to place a hold on one.)

Im waiting... cuz you just never know what may happen :) but right now im trying to figure out if the extra $450ish for the 256 mb vram 15" and .2ghz is worth it over the base model with updated HD to 160gb 5400 rpm (this is using ed, discount)

Computer Engineering major... got $2300 set aside already but got extra $400+ sittin around... hmmm

and gotta decide between glossy or matte.... pissin me off that my local apple store still doesnt have the new Mbps on display.... grrrrrr:mad: (and they have them in stock!!!!)

Do tell me more please... :)

Oh and this will be my first Mac. And I just finished my 1st year of college and will be starting all my programming classes and stuff starting this fall... does that make a difference?

EDIT: Is this what you are talking about?

Do tell me more please... :)

I just noticed I had some typos...sorry about that I am up studying for finals next week! I am a computer science major, anyway... I will provide you with the link, but basically, the student devleoper membership costs $100 per year. There is a one time only heavily discounted hardware purchase available. I got my membership just for the discount. For the high end 15 inch MBP, you get it for $200 cheaper then educational pricing. The signup is easy, sent my school id and schedule, and was verified within a day or two. Here is a link to the program info, and also a link to the developer connection store, so you can see the actual prices.

Thanks alot! hmmm... after its all set and done it drops the total amount spent about $100 on either... so the price gap remains but but after the membership the prices drop a small (but not that small) $100. ATM I feel as though I may sign up for this later as I am expecting to be in school 5 years and plan on getting a new comp 3 years from my purchase. And I'm lazy and don't want to deal with paperwork and stuff (even though it is not that much :p ) and I want my MBP asap (but ordering it on Monday)

But thanks again and I will be definately looking more into this over the next few days. :)

Just went to a different Apple store today and took a look at the LED MBP's. I didn't see much of a difference in the screen really (although I don't own a current MBP so I'm not too acquainted with what the normal screens are like). God, those machines are beautiful :)

Can't wait till Monday!

After waiting and waiting and waiting, I finally bought one on Friday! This thing is great. I've only been on it for a few hours, but I can already tell that this thing was worth all $2300 I put down for it (well, that and the free ipod and printer that I'll get rebates for:p ). If anyone is waiting, DON'T! I feel that my switch to Mac will be a great experience. I'll be asking a ton of questions, so I'm glad I have this site to rely on.
If you've been waiting, BUY NOW!!!

I still think that something is going to be done with those 13" LED screens. It fits those to be part of the "pro" line because only the Pro's have LED. Thats the distinction between the Non-pro and pro lines (with exception of the 17").

I already placed an order but that is not paid yet and it will be ready for shipment in 4-6 weeks (due to 7200rpm BTO). So I'm sure I'll be able to benefit of anything that's possibly going to be announced next monday. And if they indeed do announce other BTO options (like Blu-Ray or something although I highly doubt that) I can always change my order :)

And about the 12" / 13" MBP? I really don't care about that ;)

Ok... well you can take me off the list. I just broke down and bought mine. base model w/ HD upped to 160 GB 5400 RPM

I'm waiting, I'm not sure I really _NEED_ a new computer but since I'm already paid for the ADC student membership a half year ago I feel like I'm forced to buy a mac within one year =P, I didn't bought the last gen due to 128MB vram and I hoped the new one would have more, doesn't seem like it got more so I'm out of luck there, but it's cheaper and comes with 2GB ram by default so it won't be as expensive as the old one would have been. (2000 sek cheaper and 1GB more ram by default now)

So I'll probably bite, just want to see what happens with the iMac, mac mini, if something new is released, and if Leopard seems to be **** or not. Also an inspiring Steve Jobs talk (I very much like them) might help me to fall over and buy one.

So they will probably have my order on the 12th or 13th =P

My ideal annoucement, though unlikely, would be new sexy Cinema Displays upgraded with iSight/microphones as a companion to that sexy MBP that just came out.

There won't be a Macbook Pro revision and there won't be any free Leopard upgrade coupons, but I am waiting to see if they come out with the often rumored sub notebook. I have a Mac Pro as a desktop machine for heavy lifting and a sub notebook may be a better choice for me than the Macbook Pro.

Monday I'll order right after Steve's keynote. Hopefully he won't introduce a sub notebook and say "available September".

...and I certainly hope I'm not the only one posting here.

What's everyone's plans for getting a MBP after WWDC (those who are)? I'm heading up to New Hampshire where they have no sales tax and picking one up there. Although I have to call a day or two in advance, though, to make sure they have them in stock and hopefully can put it on hold. I just ran down to the Apple Store in Cambridge to look at the MBP's but they only had the old ones. But I still played with them for quite a while (this will be my first Mac -- very excited about this).

So what's everyone's expectations for WWDC that's keeping you waiting? I'm waiting to see if there will be a Leopard upgrade coupon (unlikely) or possibly a new version of iLife (possible). Also, I know that if I buy a Mac now, I won't have enough patience and I'll install Windows/Parallels right away even though Steve might announce some kickass features of Leopard that take away the necessity of Parallels (saving me $80 -- I think). So I'm gonna hold off until WWDC to find out what I should do with a Windows installation.

Thoughts? Please tell me I'm not the only one who's waiting! (I'm pretty sure I saw that other people were too...)
'

Hahaha! I just got my macbook pro from NH! Its a good idea, you save some good money by driving up to NH. But I doubt apple would have ANOTHER MBP update a week later.

Where is the furthest south apple store in NH? Also, how do you get your student discount... just bring your college student ID?

There is only one, its in rockingham park. From northeastern CT It takes about 1 hour and 20 mins. You bring in your student id.

im waiting.

i think wwdc will tell us about the future of computers, which might give me the chance to better plan my purchases.

maybe some superduper app will need bigger harddrive/ram, maybe some feature might change my need for higher rez, or maybe i will need to buy a gps chip to my laptop.

more info is always better when you make decisions.

if, nothing new comes from wwdc i will probably buy a 17" high rez mbp =)

I'm going to wait until after WWDC to make my MacBook Pro purchase, but this is not on purpose. This is because I need to sell my current MacBook Pro before I'll have enough to purchase the new MacBook Pro.
