This is a very interesting topic.

It will be very interesting to see how Samsung AI plays out. I don't see how Google would not have helped Samsung with their AI since Samsung and Google have a good business relationship.

I doubt Bard will be available but some Samsung branded version of it might be.
I strongly believe that due to their close business relationship with Microsoft, ChatGPT will come with the S24.

I totally get that, iPhone is the comfortable choice that most people go with. Last year I owned the S23 Ultra twice and still went back to iPhone.
It's the safe option for sure, but it can be quite boring to use iOS. I don't know why, but Android is just better(for MY usage. Your usage likely varies from mine). I switched to the iPhone because at the time I got it from my dad, and it was better than anything else we had. With the S24 releasing, I could get an s23 for less than an iPhone 13, which is quite tempting

I’ve been using iPhone since the 3GS. I’m in the Apple ecosystem, once you’re in it’s difficult to get out. I do agree that iPhone’s are rather boring, but when it comes to reliability and customer service they are the best, at least in my opinion.

I do like playing around with Android tho, and since owning the S23 Ultra last year, I do miss certain aspects of it. I’m looking forward to next Wednesday when Samsung announce the S24 Ultra, I want to see what they have done differently and if it will entice me to buy again this year.

I had used iPhones from 3gs to 8 Plus and broke free once and for all when Pixel 4a was released. The quality of Android apps improved exponentially around that time as well.

Higher resale value is what I miss... not ecosystem, high cost/no discounts, aging/clunky/inflexible UI, etc.

After your experience I don't think you should try to go all in on Android. If you get the s24 ultra and sell what you have now then once the iPhone 16 comes out you are going to want that. And this cycle of going through phones and missing Apple ecosystem will continue indefinitely. What I humbly suggest is to have both at the same time and either use two sim or switch back and forth between the two every so often. This way you will never have to miss either as you can use either whenever you want.

If you don't have the money for an iPhone 15 PM and s24 ultra which unless you are rich or get really good deals I can understand wanting to use just one system or to just get used to and immersed in the new OS. Then I would suggest since Apple is more your main comfort zone that you spend the most money on your iPhone. Then get a cheaper Android phone like a Asus zenphone or Google Pixel 8a coming up or 7a. Samsung a54/s23 base model on sale. Then you have your primary phone as your iPhone and secondary as your Android phone. Get a decent enough Android phone that you wouldn't mind using it if you had to as your only phone. Something like a highly discounted s23 base model might be a good choice.

Then enjoy both worlds when you like. No more needing to worry about leaving Apple ecosystem. And as time goes on it gives you the freedom to explore other options outside of Apple. Say you get the s23, then you get a tab s9 and then maybe you find a really nice and cheap Windows laptop. Now you will be able to use either ecosystem and won't be locked into either.

Just a suggestion. S24 ultra does look tempting though....

This is a very good point, one that i think I’m going to follow. I don’t currently have the iPhone 15 PM, I’m still using my 14 PM. I tend to go through a cycle of wanting to I use Android and then missing IOS and my iPhone. If there are good deals at launch, also with my dads military discount, i might buy the S24 Ultra and use it alongside my iPhone. I don’t tend to use iMessage, I’m more WhatsApp and WhatsApp now has the ability to link the same account to multiple phones.

Or if i’m not impressed with the S24 Ultra, i may wait for the Pixel 8a or a good deal on the Pixel 8 Pro. I do link to tinker about with phones, especially when it comes to the cameras and customisability.

Your suggestion is a really good one, thank you!!

Hey I am just happy to help a fellow forum member who I also appreciate their contributions on this forum.

I learned over time that I like both iOS and Android just like I like Windows and MacOS. If I have to choose only one I can but if I am able to use multiple platforms I prefer it.

I tend to get bored quickly looking at the same screen layout and same commands over and over. The familiarity and functionality is nice but I like learning new ways to do the same thing and being in different UI environments.

The more I use multiple platforms the easier it is and it doesn't take long for me to orientate myself in whatever platform I am in.

Then if one system is buggy or if I prefer how one does something I can use it then over time the other system adopts whatever features and they are at parity again and then it goes back and forth. I always feel good because I generally always have a solid reliable choice no matter what challenges.

Very true. I might not be in the Apple ecosystem(I only have an iPhone), I linked some accounts to an Apple ID, which made sure that I would never be able to carry them over to another platform. The password manager is great too.

I totally agree with you. I'm so stuck in Apple now. If I buy a MacBook again, I'll have the “whole family”. When I read your comment, I realized that I was trapped and I should be exposed to new things. Now I'm excited to see what's coming with the S24 Ultra. Hope the S24 Ultra will bring us more surprises. Moreover, if there are branch products about S24 Ultra launched at the same time(screen protectors&Phone cases), I will choose to buy S24 Ultra firmly.

I think a lot of people are similar, Apple is the familiar friend so to speak. Most people will stay where they are comfortable, Apple can be boring and very same old, but also you know what you're getting. Samsung have definitely upped their game in the last few years, I just don't know if it's enough to beat Apple. Apple tend to play long games.

The S24 Ultra will be a beast of a device, I'm sure of that. Leaks are saying that they are going all in on AI and that could be very impressive. I'm interested in the S24 Ultra and will probably pick one up, alongside my iPhone is probably whats best for me (like the other person on here said).

It is funny in the Android world we think of Samsung like you described Apple.

"Apple can be boring and very same old, but also you know what you're getting."

Samsung One UI, Samsung design language are very predictable and the UI can be boring but you know what you are getting and you generally know it will be reliable.

That is why I have almost always had a Samsung phone and either an iPhone or another more daring Android phone. Same formula today. Lol

Boring isn't always bad as long as what is boring is useful and reliable. A nice balance between boring and fun is always nice. Kind of how I feel about the S23 ultra. A little boring but a lot of fun!

I think it's because we get use to what we have, like the iPhone or an Android an over time we get bored of what we have. More so being a tech fan 😂

Does anyone know when Samsung give the free £50/$50 code, I registered last week but still not had it. Has anyone had theirs yet?

I just recently bought the Z Fold 5 and love it for my needs. Everybody in the house a Mac (including a new MBA for me), and their IPhones but I was never married to the ecosystem for cell or tablets, Android all the way
What phone did you have prior?

I’m taking it as a pinch of salt, but I’ve read on Twitter that Samsung are going to “keep AI features free until 2025“ after that they will be looking to charge with a subscription model. Surely this can’t be true, Google don‘t charge for the same things.

If that’s the case and they mention it at the keynote, i will definitely be put off.
