Yea I think it's very sucky if Samsung do that. We will have to wait and see what they are thinking, it might just be a rumour that turns out not to be true (let's hope) or it might turn into something. I personally would be put off, I'm not paying over a thousand pounds for a phone to then be told I have to pay a monthly subscription to access some of it's features. Granted there are cloud based subscriptions already (iCloud and Google One for example), but they are not a part of the phones experience (ie features like magic eraser and so on).

I hope Samsung don't do this, it will certainly put me off buying the S24 Ultra.
But why not?

IF its running on servers to augment the AI then there is a cost associated to keep it running, optimum level, and expand. IF locally and updating the OneUI for bugs, performance, features then I'll agree NO there should never be a charge.

Because I don't want to pay a monthly fee for something that's part of the device I've brought. Paying around £1,249 for a phone only to have features missing unless I pay an extra monthly fee is just sucky in my opinion. Google don't yet charge for such features and If they did I'm sure a lot of people would skip the Pixel devices.

No shade to the S24 series (particularly the S24U), I’m sure they are going to be some solid and incredible devices. But I believe this year Samsung is going to really prioritize the Fold 6.

Since the competition has gotten the best of Samsung, OnePlus and Google offering are really good. So, I’d expect Samsung do much better with the Fold 6.

To each their own.

Bulky? Some foldables are about the same width as slab phones… Pixel Fold is unbelievable thin for a foldable. And the crease isn’t as bad as the public makes it out to be, but Fold 4 has been tested to withstand roughly 200,000 folds.

OnePlus has claimed their foldable can withstand 400,000 folds.

Yeah they’re really going to waste all their time and effort on an over priced niche product like the Fold series.

Looks like those of us in the UK, will be getting a free Watch 6 and free storage upgrade on the S24 series.

For me I’m not that interested in foldables. They are bulky, the spen is not inserted in the phone, but most of all I’d be very worried about the crease and the glass breaking after opening it so many times.
I'm all for foldables but just couldn't trust the build quality on the Fold 5.. Bought it twice and returned it because of it's fragility ( to me at least ). Never felt confident using or carrying it without a second device as backup.

Plus, the lack of dust resistance and built in S-Pen didn't help either!

I am tuned in w/ audio set up in the background while I work. I am eyeing the S24+ and if the pre-order perks are good I may trade in my Pixel. I saw the Galaxy Watch in person last week for the first time and it seems very nice. No idea if I'd get anything from trading in my AW6.

I'm hoping we get a free Watch 6, it would be a nice little bonus. In the UK we usually just get the storage upgrade. I'm looking at the S24 Ultra.

I am looking on Samsung's site now, they're offering $200 USD for trade in of the AW6 toward a Watch6 classic. Depending on how the pre-order bonuses work I may order the watch separately to take advantage of trade in. I thought I'd get maybe $50 for the AW6 😆.

Just finished the livestream...pretty underwhelming. The AI features are essentially just catching up with what the Pixel software already does. The phones themselves look great and the addition of titanium on the Ultra is nice, but it also comes with a $100 increase.

It only started at 6pm UK time, you can't of watched the full event already.

In the U.S. I don't see any pre-order bonus aside from double storage. Also they don't list the Pixel 8 Pro as trade in eligible. Checked iPhone 15PM, only offering $750 for it which is terrible. Pre orders are live on Samsung's site.
