I barely have a phone 7 months nevermind 7 years!
I pretend (hope) to keep this phone for that long. It's been a big purchase (more than 1.000€), so can't see myself changing any time soon.

What more upgrades could I need? My S24+ has 12GB RAM, 512GB storage, excellent big screen with 120Hz and extremely bright outdoors, three cameras (I don't really need the best, I'm satisfied with them), AI features (hope they remain free), OneUI has many useful day to day features and customizations, premium design and build quality, very light for its size...

If I'm getting 7 years of updates I don't see much reason to change any time soon. Future upgrades won't make such a big impact in day to day use anymore.

For those who acquire a new phone in less than a year: are you trading in for manufacturer credit or selling elsewhere? The resale value erodes much faster on Android phones compared to iPhones in my experience which sucks.

I upgraded from 23+ to 24+ because it was a stellar deal. Got "free" double storage, $22 Buds 2 Pro, +15% CC/Rakuten discount and greater Samsung trade-in value than I paid total including tax for the 23+.

Assuming Samsung continues to prioritize updates on this model as newer ones come out, I'm likely to hang onto it for my typical 3-4 years.

Is there a way to force the Samsung weather widget to have black font and not white?

On the lock screen the clock widget is black which I love. But this same wallpaper set on my home screen and the widget is white not black

Well, I just fired up DeX to see how the experience is... I use MX Master 3.

View attachment 2381266

Currently using it with Fold 4, latest 6.1 update. And I keep my scrolling at the lowest possible, I find the scrolling better that way. Not experiencing any issues that you have.
Latest 6.1as well ilk reduce my scrolling to zero later today to see if that helps else I know from a few drops it's my mx w anywhere mouse being faulty and will need to replace.

Thank you.

Out of interest anyone getting a persistent "Email Syncing" notification on OUI 6.1 with Samsung email app?
Sry late reply I too am seeing this occasionally here and there.

I don't sync more folders than the standard Inbox and sent and I have many sub-folders organized.
I' not sure if this issue immediately occured after 6.1 or after APril's security & software patch I'm not certain. It is annoying to see on the notification pane where I only see it. IT doesn't stay for long.

my partivcular issue with this I think the root cacse is I don' thave internet at home (in process of moving) - my Wi-Fi network is up and running and most apps I've set to use WIFi / Mobile Data so I've noticed a consistent cause & affect for Mail's 'Email Syncing' notification. Unusre how your setup is?

The curious thing is WHOM or WHAT is dictating this?
Now sure, I've NEVER complained when selling my well condition previous Apple products but honestly feature for feature dollar for dollar build quality for build quality (sorry but The Galaxy S22, S23 and S24 series have equal build quality and better internals in terms of resistance to shock).

maybe its just the community at large for Android users - for top brands and models all should resist selling lower and those willing to buy grey market accept to pay tolp dollar for top brands and models with no scratches, scuffs, dents, bends. period. Then again its mostly that Android OS has a HUGE plethora of devices available across various product markets and form factors : slate, flip and fold now.

Thanks :)

I have my flip 5 on WiFi only and my fold 5 on cell and WiFi, both with many folders , but most are historical folders so not regularly updated

It started after the 6.1 update

I noticed if I disable and re-enable email notifications it stops for a few days but my work account seems to play up if I do that on my flip 5 and that is outlook not Samsung email so not sure why it should be affected but it is the notification on Samsung email as if you hold the notification it takes you to settings for Samsung email

Can you see in your own posting how most Samsung high spec users counter that perceived better resale value on Iphones :)

Early adopters of new releases get the bundled goodies usually $2-300 worth or late adopters some months down the road get only a few bundled goodies but a reduced price, net result same same :)

These extras or savings more or less equate to the perceived better resale value , not forgetting many also get a free case and/or screen protector and other discounts even on extended warranties.

When you factor in true cost of ownership, accessories etc etc its usually a wash between Samsung and Apple especially as most seem to only compare online sticker prices etc.

One year I even got a free 50" TV for being in the 1st 500 to pre-order LOL

agree. Apple’s brand recognition helps in resale valve but there are other ways to save on Androids phone as well. Samsung gives great preorder deals.

I would have to say though when it comes to support Apple is miles ahead of Samsung in Australia. Apple is more relaxed with offering out of warranty repairs for free than Samsung is. Those physical Apple stores do come in handy and you have much better chance at arguing your case.

In the end, it evens out.

Agreed

But if you live in Malaysia Apple support is telephone only no physical shop presence no 14 day return window etc etc where Samsung stores are in all Malls and service including motor cycle pick up, loan phones exist for higher end models, something Apple does not offer for free.

Thailand only Apple store in Bangkok so like many countries even in Europe your nearest Apple store could be 100's of Km's away where Samsung stores etc are numerous

Apple service is exemplary and 2nd to none for sure but it really depends where you live and trails off rapidly outside of US/UK/AUS/Japan and a few others

Yeah it also depends on the region. One example would be Apples and Samsung return policy. Apple does have a 14 day return policy but Samsung Australia do but it’s very limited.
I can open and use the product for 2 weeks to test and return it to Apple but it’s a no can do from Samsung. It has be unopened and not used.

Yep, That's how it applies with Apple in any country that has no Apple Store, only un-opened box policy, if your lucky :) except DOA

Authorised retailer no return policy normally

FYI In Korea Samsung have a 7 days open package policy, Apple also do the 14 days here.

I have the same issue with my 4 Samsung phones, as you stated it started after 6.1 update.

I really hope this update fixes the blown out 200mp mode and the yellow filter on the 5x camera.

Outdoors and in good lightning it's really good, but the moment you are indoors or lights go down, there is this massive yellowing on the 5x camera. It always degrades my pictures or videos, making the skin tones complete wrong.

While I'm sure a whole lot of us tell ourselves the same thing, I must say if opportunity + financial resources align, it takes a VERY special person to hold their ground and truly know what they want and need and don't waver beyond that.

While I don't see a big need to upgrade from my S23, I did have the 'reasoning big-eyed bug' of my techie kick in when teh S24 was officially announced. Camera's will never be a deciding factor for me as I'm still mostly a see it then, point & click (and mostly screenshot guy). That said advancements like Wi-Fi 7 being more common in home internet provider modems soon being a standard for top 3 bandwidth choices in Canada in a year time may be a cherry on top a sweet deal. Most importantly is SNapDragon 8 Gen 4 promises to be a HUGE jump in graphical performance, and never having any high end video card in any PC I"ve owned I'm looking forward to an S25 series really capable of flexing - IF heat wont be a concern.

Lastly, for me personally again, I'm finding the need to use 2 applications on screen simultaneously for reference & doing tasks and never thought I'd say this but a larger screen than 6.1" maybe closing in on me. That Summer Days Deals for a Z Fold 5 is tempting - but no inside knowledge of trade in value towards a Z Fold 6 if teh savings and trade in only nets me $900-$1200 for both 1 to the other, and its say $1400 just straight to the Z Fold 6 - I may just go for the latter: IF IPx6 minimum and very pocketable - not ever gonna have 2 junks in my pants at once: ever lol.

I have to say, the more I use the S24U ...the more I am impressed with it.
this is the best Android phone i have ever had. Camera is excellent and the overall speed of the device it amazing. Throw in the AI features and unrivaled functionality of the phones. it is a workhouse and BEAST of a phone.

Dex is a game changer when needed as well.
My 2 suggestions to Samsung is add a facial recognition software that is similar to FaceID.
The edges are too sharp and need to be rounded off.

I don't care at all about the edges, in fact I like the overall blocky design....

BUT faceID is miles ahead yeah. The pixel8pro's face detection is 2nd best, definitely usable and a lot better than the s24

Still though, as you say, it's an incredible device.

Now if the zfold 6 has a wider outer screen (we think it will), and dare I dream, an spen slot and s24Ultra cameras..... I'd be tempted
