Well i woke up to an email from apple saying it shipped.
i ordered on the 20th, but didnt get a acknowledgment until the 21st

It is coming from china, and what i thought odd is it is coming via UPS not FedEx

Couldn't wait that long...

I ordered a 64 gig 3G the day after the cut off and I just couldn't wait until may 7th (which is the shipping date not the day we get it) so I took my chances at the 5th ave Apple store in NYC. I got in line about 1 hour before they reopened and was out of the store with my new iPad by 5:45. Not a bad wait at all!!! As soon as I got home I checked the status of the pre-order and it still had not yet shipped, so I canceled it and was never charged. Worked out great for me!

Same deal but once the 3G was in hand I wasn't able to cancel. I'm sure returning the one that is to be delivered won't be a problem, I hope.

Same situation here, except every Apple Store and Best Buy in a 50-mile radius is sold out.

Ordered April 20th, still not shipped or prepared for shipping.

I ordered the same day and it is expected to be here, from China, on Monday. Strange how they are shipping these things out.

I ordered my 32gig 3g at 5:30am April 19th. Still showing 'Not yet shipped'. Talked to CS on Thursday. They said I would of got it Friday if I ordered it before Midnight the 18th. They said it will ship by the 7th. Sigh.....

Going to try my luck at the local Apple Store this morning.

So I tried my local apple store... no line, was in and out on 5 min. They had all models in stock. Cancelled my online order when I got home.

That's a good point. I ordered 32GB version, so we'll see what happens...I'll post updates when I get them, and luckily this next week is finals week, and having to write applications to grad schools, etc., so it'll keep my mind off it! Patience is not something I've very gifted at

Date of your iPad order may have little to do with the date Apple decides to ship.

On March 17 my school ordered a 64GB 3G through the Apple Education Store. Order status still showed the "end of April" shipping estimate late last night (April 30). A call to customer support earlier in the day gave no information why the order did not go out.

This morning, order status now shows a May 17 ship date. Appears Apple may give Education store order second class status. An order for a MBP 15.4/2.66/CTO we submitted to the Education store on March 15 also moved from a May 3 ship date to a May 17 date.

chris.... have you tracked yours lately? Mine is showing the same as yours as far as delivery scheduled for tomorrow, but according to ups, it's still in China. I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to make it.

yup i did an hour or 2 ago, i doubt it will make it but you never know. I remember reading some things on here a while back, and i looked up one thread from when ups did the wifi shipping.
back then they went from cn, HK, a breif stop in alaska, then got import scanned in lexington. then went from there.

one thing i read is on the world ease shipping they dont always scan or update until they get to the unload point.

The only reason i am irked by this is because i need to take a day off to receive it. And i hate calling my boss on the same day and say i am taking a vacation day lol.

My wife is a stay at home mom, but our 12 year old has an eye dr appt, so I'm last minute with my boss too. I guess I'll check in the morning and if it's on a truck, I'll figure something out then. I don't like to wait till the last minute, but don't seem to have much choice.

Something tells me that they will toss an exception up around 9 or 10 tonight. But anyhow i set the email notification to email my mobile me account on exceptions.

According to ups web site world wide express is one to 2 business days from asia
if get an exception email i will post

You might want to check with them, i dont think Apple ships ipads or even iphones via ups ground or fedex ground. I might be wrong but worth checking

When i ordered mine online there was no option for "faster shipping"

that kind of sucks. And probably calling them tomorrow won't help much either.
I was surprised to hear that a few people on here who ordered via the education store thing or on a tax exempt status back when the 30th delivery window got kicked out to May 17.
And one or 2 cant get a straight answer as to why.

Was going back and forth on ordering. Just gave in and ordered as the 6 stores within 1.5 hr drive are out. I will be near one store on Tuesday night and if they have it I will get it and cancel my online order.

me too, just ordered yesterday wondering if it might get shipped out early because of mother's day, just thinking that if apple wants to advertise for it they'd have to ship faster
