Personally, I would have put a new logic board and upgraded the CPU and cache bank (yes, it requires a BGA reowork, but there are plenty of companies that will do it for you) in the A1013. The A1013 is the only AlBook that can take a Freescale 7457 and 2MiB of L3 cache. Because of its L3, even with the stock CPU and cache, the A1013 actually is faster than the 1.33GHz PowerBook and performs nearly as fasy as the 1.5GHz 'book. In general, 1MiB of cache gives a G4 50% more speed and 2MiB of cache gives double the performance vs having no L3 cache. In theory, with a 7457 set to 1.33GHz/1.67GHz and 2MiB of L3, it would have performed equally to a non-A1013 AlBook running at 2.67GHz (in processor reduced mode) or 3.33GHz (in proccesor high performance mode). With an upgraded CPU and cache, an A1013 blows away any other PowerBook and can compete with early MacBook Pros.
Hmm…yeah well, see there's this guy that used to be on here named rabidz7. He's been banned multiple times as he makes new accounts. He's easy to spot because he's always talking about overclocking and replacing CPUs and stuff like that.

Invariably, he'd respond whenever I mentioned my 17" PowerBook. Now, I've told him time and again that this is not something I would do.

My opinion on the matter has not changed one bit.

I'd like to see some proof to back those claims up. There's no way I'm believing that 2MB of L3 cache doubles CPU performance, outside of you cherry picking benchmarks.

Multiple times.

It's always these fantastic claims that he makes and never has any proof to show for that give him away. He never seems to figure that out.

Yup, I'm well aware of his doings. He is hilarious on Reddit, he asks questions in drug-based reddits like "what two substances can I mix together to get as high and wasted as possible?". It's hilarious

P.S. I have in no way abandoned the community. My QS is still my main Mac.[/QUOTE]

See that is my problem. I can't choose whether to keep my Late 06' iMac on my desk or to put my G5 up there. I already have my MacBook Air as my Intel Mac, so I am having difficulties making a choice here. Ugh, this is not like choosing your child's name so why is this so hard??

AAAANNNNDD the ban hammer has fallen!

Why? I didn't see him do anything wrong  Or was he "ban evading"?
The person behind the long ago banned rabidz7 account will periodically create a new user account and will invariably and unerringly post some overclocking or CPU alternate reality threads in the PowerPC forums.

It does not take the mods very long to find his new account and ban him - again.

Since you aren't supposed to create new accounts when an old account has been banned it's an instantly bannable offense no matter how "good" you are under the new account. Since the new accounts are banned too then you begin to exponentially violate these rules by creating new accounts.

Don't fall for any innocence on his part.

With him, it would be extremely easy to notice if it's him with his outlandish ideas and thoughts that would only come from someone who has a really good time once a year on this specific day... However, someone like MatthewLTL, may not be as easy to find again with generic comments and stuff. Just take this as a lesson to never, under any circumstance, believe him, trust him, or feel bad for him when he gets banned, once again. He goes by Rabidz7, Bobthetrucker, and who knows what else...

He was in "Time-out" then when he came out he did the same thing and got in "Time-out" again... Oh hey he is out of Time-out now! :D

Wow, I'm way off tonight, lol. Thanks for the correction.

It has been a bit quieter round these parts for the last 10 days. ;)

Heh very true. Hopefully it will be quiet for a really long time... The gentle balance within the sub-forum has been restored for right now, and hopefully it will stay that way.

He is back. :(

He is back. :(

I don't think he's a bad person, but I wish he'd try basic troubleshooting and Googling before posting here. I use this as a last resort just because I didn't want to clutter forums and have people fix my problems. Most of his stuff is pretty obvious and fixable. Like his mouse problem, it clearly shows the the kexts being the problem, but he didn't try using the computer with just the mouse or just the hub (if you don't know what I'm talking about, its in the post).

Not to high jack too much, but I've given in to temptation and actually bought three Intel Macs over the past week.

I bought a first generation CoreDuo Mini, a 2006 Core2Duo 17" iMac, and an early 2008 MBP(last of the pre-Unibody mdoels).

The MBP was advertised as a "beater" and it has issues, but is nowhere near as bad as I was expecting and the seller made it out to be. I'm currently installing Mavericks on it-for the second time as the first install would hang at the Apple. The seller advertised it as having a failing hard drive, and I suspect that this may be the issue. SSDs-particularly smaller ones-are getting so inexpensive now that I'll probably go that route, although I do have a couple of 500gb hybrid drives and a 120gb SSD on the way from the same seller. I'm anxious enough to get it working that I may swing by Bestbuy on the way home and pick up a cheap 120 gb, or just temporarily use the 60gb OCZ I have lying around. I intend to dual boot this in Mavericks(or maybe Yosemite) and Snow Leopard.

Sounds like a nice set of Macs. How much did they set you back?

I believe Bun now has 55... I have 19

Wow. I've now got 5, but one of them (my Mac mini) is now my work machine, and of the three PPC one of the iMacs is a broken specimen I kept after a bad eBay deal and plan on scrapping for parts, leaving me with just the iMac and/or PowerMac G4 depending on how well they run. I just don't have the *room*, nor an obliging enough wife that would allow me to indulge such tendencies :)

Hahahaha... Well, in terms of macs, I have 11 (1 Intel, 9 PPC, 1 68k). Every one of them works flawlessly or with very minuscule issues. I have as much space as I want, so that works well for me :D
