Also consider Apple changed to titanium for a weight reduction and or other reasons ...not to get rid of finger prints, that was just your expectation. They could switch to a high grade plastic like the Pixels had a few years ago which was light and did not show finger prints but then everyone would complain cause plastic equals non premium for most people. It was however one of my favorite phones.

I explained why, but then you quoted me and then removed the part of my comment explaining why, which seems productive.
Actually you didn't. Maybe you should re-read what you wrote. All you said is that the devices always look pristine in other videos & not Marques's. So i'll ask again, & maybe this time you'll actually put a few seconds of thought into your reply.

Why does it matter if the phone looks pristine in a YouTube video? If you don't have an answer for that very simple question, you can just say so.

So you're condescending as well. Got it.

The bitter irony in you being unable to answer the question, is that you're essentially making my point for me.
There is no irony here; rather, it appears that you are adopting a condescending tone without a discernible reason. Allow me to reiterate that I have already provided a reason to your question. My personal preference leans towards finding it aesthetically displeasing when individuals showcase iPhones and other devices in 4K on YouTube that appear unkempt or dirty. To clarify, my preference is for YouTubers to present these devices in a clean and well-maintained state because that is how I personally use my own devices.

I acknowledge that there are varying viewpoints on this matter, and individuals like yourself may prioritize a more authentic representation, where the phone appears used and unaltered, akin to real-life usage without a case.

However, it is worth noting that your vehement disagreement with my perspective seems disproportionate, given that my viewpoint is a matter of personal preference and holds no relevance to your own preferences whatsoever. It is possible that you are unduly perturbed by my comment and are seeking an explanation that aligns better with your sensibilities.

Exactly. I want reviewers to show units that are being used as normal users use them. They aren't 1000-year-old paintings, people; they were designed to be held with ungloved hands and used.
It just speaks to the entitlement of the average Apple enthusiast. They want constant improvement in every area (bigger, better, faster, lighter) with absolutely no trade-offs.

They ask for bigger, brighter screens & faster processors, but don't want any of those things to affect battery life.

They ask for better, more powerful cameras, but then complain about the size of the camera bump.

They want a lighter, more durable phone, with better materials, but don't want it to show any cosmetic damage or fingerprints, whatsoever.

This particular mindset seems to snowball year after year, but I think we've officially reached the point of no return.

Well to be fair the stainless steel was a horrible fingerprint magnet- even just holding a phone for a couple of minutes resulted in the stainless steel frame looking pretty bad and needing to be wiped down.

I would think that the titanium wouldn't be as bad since it's matte instead of glossy as the SS was- and even if it's equally as bad, at least it's not worse- and we are getting the benefit of the reduced weight.

Need to get some of that ET tech that the government is holding onto for dear life.

Also prone to scratch quite easily apparently. Especially the blue one

Ti is easy to scratch...that phone looks like it has been (mis)handled by a number of hands.
If you drop it or hit it against a table it will mark.
I'm ok with some character marks as long as the as screen and lenses remain pristine.
So I've ordered a screen protector and lens guards.

I believe Apple used Ti as they didn't have much to shout about...just a hunch.

This image was shared in another thread and the consensus is those scratches are photoshopped. Zoom in and look at the pixels around the scratch--looks like bad editing.

But are the majority of consumers asking for these things? Are they shouting at Apple - my phone must be faster and be able to take high res images of the moon!

I know people always want better battery life and Apple could just make the phone thicker to fit a larger battery, which would also absorb some of the giant camera lenses. Stainless steel was a dumb move as it's heavy and a polished finish is a scratch magnet, aluminium or titanium is a much better choice but Apple already knew this as they already make aluminium iPhones which are solid, light and don't show finger/hand oils.

Alot of Apples choices are to simply trick the consumer with marketing hype, that the "new" features and materials are the best, most cutting edge ever used in an iPhone. I know Apple is much a fashion brand as they are a tech one, and there is alot of competition in the mobile phone space. But there is only one set of devices that run iOS and I don't see Apple bleeding customers because they didn't put in an even bigger camera module or cutting edge processor (that can't even do split screen multitasking) year on year. Alot of people just want an iPhone full stop. Hell, they could just change the shape slightly, change the colour options to give the iPhone a yearly refresh and they would still make bank.

I believe it's the pricing that brings out in consumers the sense of entitlement we hear/read about: if I'm spending this much money, what else does it do for me. Does it look good, is it better than my mates Samsung phone, is the camera new/better, can I brag I have the best phone available because of x, y, z. I speak with alot of my work colleagues about tech as we all have it and they make enough money to upgrade yearly. But when I get into the details of the new features they seem pretty clueless. "Yea, it's the new blue one, the Pro - it's really fast".

Apple has confirmed that they are indeed, massive fingerprint magnets.

After literally holding my Black 15 Pro Max for about 30 seconds it is completely covered in fingerprints. This is worse than the stainless model if you ask me from a fingerprint standpoint. Oh well, I need skin on this thing immediately lol.

Did Apple ever say they switched to titanium because it would show fewer fingerprints? Why did people assume it would?

Oh no. How can I read texts if the metal sides of the phone have fingerprints all over them? Won’t it be too blurry to be legible?

Oh that’s right, the texts don’t show up on the metal sides. I forgot.
