Not a consensus of reasonable people lol. Nothing makes these scratches hard to believe.

Titanium scratches. My titanium watch bracelets always get scratches on the clasps. It’s actually the coating/oxidation that gets scratched and it buffs out. Here, I suspect it’s the color coating that is scratching on the phone.

Anyone tried this with the natural titanium yet? Curious if that one looks as bad since it's not a dark color.

Oh no. How can I read texts if the metal sides of the phone have fingerprints all over them? Won’t it be too blurry to be legible?

Oh that’s right, the texts don’t show up on the metal sides. I forgot.

Yeah good point. Why ever wash your car if it drives fine filthy dirty?

Some people don’t like their stuff covered in prints. Yeah I could put a case on it, I just prefer the feel of the phone without one.

I don’t think anyone is talking about filth here

They’re talking about fingerprints that show up after touching the phone once.

I can confirm that the titanium is a fingerprint magnet, because I just looked at one at my local AT&T store. The guy there was just now putting them out on display and he let me hold it, fingerprints immediately showed up on the side of it just like they do on the stainless steel models of the 14 pro series. So yes, it will show fingerprints right away.

Ding ding ding

Why were people expecting this to change?
I don’t know, doesn’t bother me anyway & I don’t care if the phone collects fingerprints or not. Everything you touch generally leaves a fingerprint. I’m just pointing out the fact that it does in fact show fingerprints for those that really are concerned about it. Mine is always going to be in a case anyway so I don’t really care. I always use a case and an anti-glare/mat finish screen protector.

After opening a new iphone box I have never thought twice about smudges, except on the glass front. I always use a case which mitigates visual distraction a smudge may create. I love the industrial design of the iphone and wish I could use it without any case, but that’s not going to happen.

Looks like the display glass is uneven as well. Hopefully the quality control from India will be up to par, otherwise there will be a lot of returned iPhones. I’m not upgrading at this time… maybe by March

The Titanium of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 doesn‘t seem to be a fingerprint magnet based on what I have seen so far in the Apple Store though.

Not sure what Apple did to the Titanium of the iPhone to make it like this.

I have the watch ultra, it’s pure titanium I believe. The iPhone is an alloy of titanium and something else.. probably why.

Oh my god. I have my Ti Blue in a case with a screen protector. It gets covered in all kinds of c**p when the kids get it. I wipe it down. My screen gets finger smudges and I wipe it down. Seriously I have heard it all😂

Well I just had my iPhone 15 Pro out of the case to try something, and while I was at it... I ran my fingers all over the back and sides for a couple minutes. I'm very disappointed to report that I don't see any fingerprints on the back, and MAYBE a little oily-appearing smearing on the sides. No prints. This the blue titanium one.

Err yeah, titanium does attract fingerprints lol. I was laughing reading some of the comments pre launch on here where people were already justifying the move away from stainless steel because they hated fingerprints lol. People forget the Apple Watch criticisms a few years ago where many threads were made about keeping fingerprints and smudges off their £800 aluminium looking titanium watches.

I just go with it and I heard the same complaints about plastic, aluminum, the stainless steel and now the titanium. Guess that fingerprints happen. I think the funniest thing I heard was some YouTube expert weighed in and said titanium was a soft metal. I really wanted to ask him if it is so soft what was the SR71 spy plane made of, of course it was a titanium bird and is a very hard metal and has high resistance to heat.

Now I realize that the titanium is not the same grade used in the SR71 but I also spent 30 plus years working to assemble aircraft and have spent most of that time drilling fitting parts and drilling titanium and if that stuff is soft how come you have to use special drill bits to drill it and at extreme low speed and heavy pressure against the drill motor.
