So I needed to revive this thread in light of the new iPhone announcements. We pretty much concluded that the iPhone X was smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus. It had more vertical height, but overall had less usable screen space for content.

I wonder how the iPhone XS Max will compare to the iPhone 8 Plus in terms of this. Is the XS Max simply a taller version of the 8 Plus? Does it have the same width?

I was just wondering this same thing. If it’s the same width as the 8+, then the aspect ratio will still be different because the screen is taller, correct?

Sorry - this is certainly not my forte’, but I’m just curious as to whether I’m gonna wind up with a long, narrow screen that looks funny. ;-p

The iPhone 8 and the iPhone X had the exact screen width. The X had a taller screen which obviously affected the ratio.

I’m going to guess the 8 Plus and XS Max are a similar situation where they’re the same width, but the XS Max is taller. Haven’t been able to find any confirmation of that though. Tried looking through the human interface guidelines but couldn’t find anything.

The X's width was slightly wider than the 8 (non-Plus). And I just received my XS Max screen protector and the width is the same comparing it with my current 8 Plus display.

Nope...
iPhone 6/6S, 7/8 is 2.3" Wide
iPhone X is actually 2.5" Wide
While the iPhone 7 Plus is 2.7" Wide

The word Almost can never be the Same as "SAME" Word.. Almost means still bigger/smaller, etc or something like that. You know in Asia, every people there has Higher IQ than Western people and very good in Math.

I’m Asian and I’m terrible in Math. I have what’s called mathephobia!
