Here is a true story: Back when iPhone 6sPlus was the latest iPhone, my coworker purchased one through her carrier and did not buy Apple Care. After a few months the phone started having volume problems and headphone jack problems. She took it back to the carrier and they replaced it. Guess what? The replacement started giving her the same problems. I told her to take the drive to the nearest Apple store (100 miles away for us) and let the Genius Bar figure it out. After the Genius Bar told her they couldn't figure out the problem, they gave her a new phone, not a refurbished one. She never had a problem since.

The first year is covered by Apple regardless of where you purchased the phone. You don't need Apple care the first year. So if you plan to upgrade next year, buying Apple Care is not needed.
Yes, they cover defects for the first year. But try taking a completely shattered phone to the Apple store without Applecare and see how helpful they are...

imo it's worth the cost of AppleCare+ to not have to deal with Verizon in the event of a claim.
You don't actually deal with Verizon. It's a third party insurer, and really isn't that bad. My sister lost her iPhone 6 Plus, filed a claim, paid the $200, and they overnighted another to her with case, car charger, and all accessories.

I wonder how much is the deductible for the iPhone X? Also if I lose the iPhone X and file a claim to get a another one, does my installment payments start over or pick up from the lost iPhone?

I got excited.

I checked origin email and it says 11/3

For a moment I already started to feel the rush.

Man I can’t wait till Friday. It’s been a whole year since that new phone smell !

TBH I originally wanted to preorder from Apple because I heard it was easier. But I am so glad I went through Verizon instead. Question, I plan on running errands Friday (the day its delivered). I'm legally blind so I usually get my phone in store so that they can help me set up accessibility stuff and this is my first time preordering. So I plan on going to Verizon as well as Apple on Friday. Verizon for activation of my X and deactivation of my 7 plus. And Apple for accessories as well as Apple Care. But if I could cut those 2 trips down into 1 that'd be great.
Could either 1. I be able to activate my new phone and deactivate my old one from home? If so how?
Or, 2. If because I already have to go to Apple could they activate my new phone and deactivate my old one? Even though I got it through Verizon.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
If you are going to Apple for help setting it up, they can help you deactivate your old phone as well. No need to make a trip to Verizon.

Your new device will be activated when you turn the phone on.

The new device comes preloaded with a sim that’s tied to your phone number.

Your old device would then be technically “deactivated;” if you’re retaining the old device, you can “re-activate” it by placing the new sim in the old device.

Both Verizon and Apple can assist with completing all the tasks you’ll need to customize the device for your usage, including the above.

Hope this helps.

Verizon also has a distribution center in Memphis area. Probably the reason Apple, Verizon, and a lot of other companies that do shipping have distribution centers there is FedEx. Memphis is the FedEx super hub.

FedEx actually does the entire fulfillment for VZ.

A little off subject, but while we wait, time is ticking on the ability to get insurance. I just saw that Verizon offers coverage against theft, loss, and damage for $7.15 a month with a $200 deductible. If you don't lose or damage your phone, paying that monthly premium to Verizon works out to be much cheaper than buying AppleCare (assuming you keep your phone for one year). Also of note is that AppleCare doesn't cover loss or theft at all, and they only cover two incidents vs Verizon's three. I never get insurance, but seeing these new repair costs and the $1250 total phone cost, $7.15 a month, for me, is worth the peace of mind alone knowing that if I shatter or lose my phone, I can get a new one for $200.
Don’t forget you can cancel AppleCare at any point and get a refund for the unused portion. As long as you never had a claim. Only downside is that they don’t cover lost phones. AppleCare will also send a remanufactured or new phone if you have damage. You just need to call and ask for an advanced replacement.

You know that feeling of great satisfaction when you’re peeling the plastic off the front and back of it.

When you stare into the beautiful clean screen without not one scratch or dust follicle on it.

Then you power it in and the Apple logo comes on.

CMON FRIDAY.

I hate to admit it but you are right!! I love that first power-up. It's going to be beautiful on the X.

Guys I plan on giving my 8 plus to the wife and me taking her X. Should I swap the sim in the X before turning it on?

I ordered 3 phones, all are coming in one packaging. Yours too?

Based on an issue last year, see below, I ordered them in two separate orders so two packages.

Last year I ordered a 7+ and a 7, the line the 7 was on got messed up (my fault) and while the order didn’t get cancelled the 7+ got held until the line for the 7 was cleared up and the phone got shipped. I learned my lesson and didn’t do anything to mess up the line... but either way if they are separate orders they don’t have a chance of interfering with one another.

Ordered slightly after 3 AM EST on Verizon site. CC was charged $1 authorization fee at 3:08 AM EST. Went from Processing to pending on Friday night, and CC still hasn't been charged anything. 3 iPhone X 256 Space Grey on the same order. 11/03 delivery date. Anyone else in the same boat?
yup

My phone is orginaitng shipping from Memphis. That's apples main hub that I've always gotten products from. Mount Juliet Tennessee to be specific

Just for the record, Mt Juliet is outside Nashville not Memphis. Mt Juliet has quite a few fulfillment centers including, I believe, Amazon. Though Amazon might be located in neighboring Lebanon. FedEx has their global hub in Memphis.

Source: I’m from TN and have lots of friends who went to college in Middle TN.

Always start with the old sim card. I will just install the sim from my 7 Plus into my X. Their system may be overloaded that day, and since the current sim is still active, the X will have no issues. If you try and activate the new sim first, and you have issues, the old sim may still be deactivated, and you will not have any phone that will work, forcing you to go to a verizon store to get it all figured out, with yet another sim card.

My status has changed from processing to shipped and delivery on Tuesday. FedEx had placed a note that says the shipment will be held until Friday but at least it's going to be at the local hub and ready for me on Friday!
