So here's an update for anyone who changed their address. I spoke to a manager with FedEx while on the phone with Verizon and FedEx. It definitely has to go to the original destination sort facility. From there, it gets re-routed. But, you've lost your overnight shipping by this point. Something Verizon/FedEx did NOT tell me (or many others from what I can tell). From the original sort facility, it will be re-labeled and sent on to the new sort facility. Delivery won't occur until Monday or Tuesday. No weekend delivery.
Luckily, I caught this in the nick of time and canceled the address change. Now, my package will be delivered to the original address (my dad's address), or at least that's what FedEx tells me, and my dad will overnight it to me. Verizon agreed to credit my account with the amount he has to pay to overnight it to me.
It is what it is. I'm okay not getting my phone today, though I wish I was. The part that really gets me is the total lack of transparency and honesty on the part of FedEx and/or Verizon. If there's a chance of it getting delayed, I should have been told that. All I was told is that the address change may not go through, NOT that it will be delayed, or that there was even a chance of delay. Hell, Verizon should fix this by allowing you to specify a shipping address. Basic eCommerce functionality missing.
To add insult to injury, according to the customer service rep I spoke to said the warehouse associate screwed up and packaged both of our phones in the same box. They should have been separate boxes. This may have also caused some issue. Oh well. I am pleased Verizon will credit the account with the cost of overnighting it to me, though. That was nice.
