The manager at the Verizon Authorized retailer I went to stated that he will wake up early and come into the store at 2am EST to get the orders in as they open up. I would recommend finding an authorized store that does the same, or at least says they do. Doesn't look as if Verizon stores do the same though

It seems Verizon Corporate stores do something similar. I went to my Local Verizon Corporate Store where I buy most of my Phones from and they told me they are doing something similar they are keeping a list in their store, they added the info into their iPad with my Name and my Number and Email and said they would contact me the week of the pre-order to make sure I still want it. And at a few minutes before midnight they send emails with a link to complete the order online and they said when they call you can tell them you want to do it over the phone they will set it up so that it can be do over the phone at midnight.

That’s actually different. At the Verizon Authorized stores, they do the pre-ordering for you, so you don’t have to wake up at midnight. My understanding of the link the Verizon Corp stores send out does not get you any preferential spot in the queue, and just links to the same place in the website where the rest of us go to at midnight to pre-order. I could be wrong though

What’s my better bet for iPhone X preorder at 3am EST- Verizon or Apple? Which is more likely to get me a phone delivered on launch day? Thanks.

Wondering this too. Verizon website, verizon app, apple website, apple app...?? Which is the best bet!?

Thanks

I was curious if anyone has any experience pre-ordering an iPhone if you have a Verizon Business Account. I have been told that you can have your business representative pre-order them for you so that you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night, but I cannot confirm. My representative doesn't seem to have too much information about it. I waited in line at Apple for the 6+ release and walked away without anything because Apple told me that since I had a business account I must go directly through Verizon.

Also, my phone number doesn't have an upgrade right now, but other phones on my account do - I plan on using one of these upgrades. If a business rep cannot preorder it for me, how do I identify that I am using another upgrade on my account for my number?

I would guess the Apple Store, whether it be on desktop or the app

Tough to say. During prior launches, the Verizon app went live a few minutes before midnight and the Apple store shortly after midnight. I plan to have have both options ready to go and will see which one lets me in 1st. Time will be of the essence here.

My first choice would be the Apple Store app, for my particular situation I need to use the Verizon app. I also plan on calling Verizon at the same time so I can see which one works faster.

The reason I have to use the Verizon app is because when I bought my last phone at target I put a $200 deposit down and even though the phone is 53% paid off according to Verizon, that transaction doesn’t translate to Apple. So when I go on the Apple Store app, it only gives me the option to buy the phone at full price.

I visited 2 more Verizon stores today. One was a corporate store. They had no knowledge of being able to order at 12 midnight when pre-orders begin. They said they are taking names and sending a link on the 26th.

The second was an authorized retailer. He said they will be ordering at midnight and needed the customers name and number. He said on the 26th he will contact customer and customer needs to supply a method of payment and PIN if customer wish to still order. The part I have a problem with is the payment. What if their shipping date is 2018? They would have hit my credit card and would have done me no good to get phone at launch. Also this retailer is inside a large mall. Does he have access to the mall that late? Or is he just saying anything to get an order?

I would say that the retailer is saying anything to get an order. This type of event has been happening and you can see in this forum. Just research the posting. A lot of attempts to target iPhone X desperate people to scam. Anybody promising something too good to be true should be a fraud red flag. Be wise, diligent and not vulnerable. Do research and investigation before trusting anyone.

If you want something done right, do it yourself. Do not depend on the reps at the Verizon store. Even Apple isn’t guaranteeing something like what these Verizon stores are.
I’d say if you want the best chance, you need to wake up or stay up and order when the stores go live.

I wouldn't say scam.. but the margins and competition at authorized retailers is such, that they will do anything to make a sale at their store. I'm sure the manager has hustle and wants to make the sale... i'm sure he will show up at midnight an enter your order. Does he have a special system? What if you're number 10 on his list an the doesn't get to your order until 30 minutes later?

where i'm coming from:
I switched to VZW from ATT at an authorized retailer last year. I already had iPhone 7 for me and the wife. but they didn't work on CDMA. Rep met me in the parking lot at 8 am (2 hours before store opens) to give me one phone, lent me his old iPhone 6 while he tracked my 7plus, then drove it to my office. the works. They for sure hustle. no doubt about that. While I appreciate the service, there was a bit of a car sales/friend selling you crap on Facebook/pyramid scheme feel of it all. (nevermind the insurance he threw on my lines that i didn't ask for. i kept it on my lines for a cycle or two because i felt grateful for his effort).

All that to say, I'm still not convinced that putting your name on a list, with a pin and a promise that "I'm going to go to the store and enter everything in" is the best way to go. Specially not when you understand where their incentive is. Not a scam... just making a sale but over promising

I have a really good friend of mine who is a manager at a corporate verizon store. I discussed the preorder situation with him after reading this forum. He states that they are taking names of customers who want to preorder, though they will need to pay tax up front either at the time of taking the information or the day prior to preorder. He also states they do not have additional time for inputting the information to bulk send an order a midnight, they can only start inputting one by one starting at midnight. This also does not guarantee delivery by launch day and delivery will depend on how smoothly their systems are the day of preorder.

That sounds so accurate. I hope people read what you wrote and listen.

This is what I was looking for. So Verizon doesn't have a set allotment of phones, it's all coming from Apple's stock directly. I can already see Verizon not having any X's available on launch day from online orders or in store. Maybe a handful but not much. Best to order from Apple.com.

I think you are right. I'll just order via Apple Store app. If I can't get the X, I won't settle for an 8 or 7. I'll stick with my 6sPlus and wait and see what next year's X will be.

So I qualify for a 0 down via Verizon after doing a credit check... if I select Verizon through Apples website, am I forced to do another credit check or will Apple find my social which will already be in Verizos system for 30 Days?

When someone says purchase through apple.com would that include through apple.com w/ verizons upgrade program?

So what would be the best way to go about this:

Coming from T-Mobile Jump! with EIP at 270 remaining.

Was just told I was approved for 0 down with Verizon.

So what would be the best way for smooth transition to Verizon on the 27th?

Pay off T-Mobile. Then switch to Verizon. It is very simple ;):)

Is it true that if you’re with the Verizon iPhone upgrade program you cannot upgrade using the Apple Store app?

That’s not true. You can upgrade your Verizon phone to a new one through the Apple store app. You just select Verizon as your carrier and it will start up a new installment for you on your Verizon bill. They’ll even send you a box to return your old device.
