TLDR...

Last year I got in on the deal where I traded an iPhone 6 and received a $650 credit. This credit is being paid out monthly, $27.08/month. Does anyone have details on what will happen if I pay the upgrade early with return fee ($36.10) and send back my 7+? Will I continue to receive the $27.08/month credit? I cant be the only person wondering. Thanks!

Ok. Now i see what you’re talking about.
Looks like you have to pay up to the 12th installment and then it will let you through.

I thought that as well, but I have paid the 12th installment. The issue apparently is that Apple store is saying that they don't accept Verizon trade in the app or online.

I need input. I won't be near a computer on pre-order day for the iPhone X. (long story) How can I secure a pre order? Should I see if my local Verizon stores are accepting pre orders list's?

Exactly.

Well this sucks. I guess I’ll be going through the verizon app. Ugh

I’ve been testing the Verizon app. Although there are more steps involved I do think it goes fairly quick through the process. Have a card saved.

The moment you trade-in your phone, you will lose the credits going forward.

Can you sign up as a new customer when pre-ordering through Verizon? I wanted the CDMA version just to have the option of any carrier because I don't have a carrier at the moment. But apple won't let you preorder without being an existing customer of a carrier. But I hadn't considered pre-ordering through Verizon.

Open an account now and byod. Then upgrade via Apple or Verizon for the x.

I’m using T-Mobile now. Thinking of getting a cheap no contract Verizon data plan for a month just to able to preorder the Qualcomm chip iPhone X. I will keep my number on T-Mobile SIM card. in order to be an active Verizon user does that mean I have to get a new number associate with the VZ SIM card? If so do I have to insert that into my current phone (Verizon compatibility) to activate the sim?

Yes and yes

Credits will continue if you keep the phone on the account, but on a different number under the same account.

We have 3 lines if you include the iPad. My line still has 13 months of payments (and credits) the second line is available for upgrade, I'll order an X on that line for resale. I was hoping to order two (sell one, keep one). I can wait another year, no biggie, I like my 7+ especially if you consider what I paid for it (or will have paid for it). My better half loves the iPhone 5 size, recently did an insurance claim on a bad 5S and received a brand new in box SE (sweet!). I don't think he would be on board with taking my 7+.

Are we thinking it will be smarter to go through Apple’s website to do the Verizon upgrade program, or go directly through the Verizon website??

From the looks of it, if you’re on an installment plan you have to go through the Verizon app. If you have the IUP then you’re fine to go through Apple. But from what I see as well as a couple other members here have found out, if you’re doing carrier financing, you’ll have to go through the carriers site or app.
I’d recommend making sure you have the My Verizon app downloaded and a card saved on file.
Hope this helps answer your question.

So it’s easier/quicker to upgrade through the app versus the website?

I’d say so, yes. I tested with the iPhone 8 last night and it took me a minute and 5 seconds to get from opening the Verizon app to hitting “place order.”

Have a card saved and have your Verizon password saved through touchID to speed it along.

I’ll try just using the website next.

So to be clear, if I’m currently on a BYOD plan eligible for $0 on a new device would I have any trouble using the Apple Store app or would I be better off with the Verizon app?

Try running through the process on the Apple store app on an iPhone 8. See what options it gives you. It’s been giving everyone else only the option to buy it in full. It won’t do Verizon device payments.

For a midnight pre-order isn't the website a better option because you can get to the iPhone X selection screen and then just keep on hitting refresh/F5 until the option to move forward with the purchase goes live. On the MyVerizon app, don't you have to keep opening the app, navigating through a few steps to the Iphone X and then closing it out and starting again until go-live? Isn't the website refresh quicker?

So since my 6S is compatible with Verizon, should I just use BYOD and port my number? Or pay off the remaining EIP and then use Verizon BYOD?

And then I’d be able to use my 0 down to upgrade to the X?
