I would like to apply an Apple gift card to my preorder. Does anyone have any advice for the smoothest way of doing so?

I did a mock order, and I don't see a way to populate my gift card in there for me. I planned to just copy the pin to my clipboard and enter it quickly.

Think it's safer to just not use the gift card?
 
College student, central time zone (2:01 release). I have a midterm tomorrow that I'll be done studying for by midnight. Netflix until 12:45. Gonna get second dinner, be back in my room by 1:30. Refreshing these forums/Apple Store app/Verizon store from 1:35-2:05 until I can hopefully get an order in.

If I weren't in college, I'd probably just sleep and set an alarm.

Ahh, the ole on-campus second dinner from undergrad (I’m assuming) - miss that. I’m a grad student and luckily we have fridays off this semester. I’ll get some studying in earlier in the evening, but then after that it’s some late night Battlefield 1 for me!
 
This is my first time pre-ordering an iPhone at midnight and was wondering which option would give the best chance of scoring an iPhone x on launch day or at least in 2 weeks? Apple store app or Verizon app?

There has been conflicting results so it would be difficult to say
 
I was just able to submit a successful pre order on the app! Submitted at 2:19 EST. Got email receipt at 2:20. I just tried for the hell of it and it went thru!!

I was playing with the myVerizon app and I added the iPhone X to my cart and it allowed me to order. This was around 11:27am pacific time. I thought this was strange and I would get an error message but I did not. I got a confirmation email with an order number.
The myVerzon app has a Order number: 1717xxx
The email confirmation I received has a order number: 514132xxxx

Both show a order date of 10/26/17 and "Estimated to ship around 11/3/17".

I checked my credit card I used and it has not been charged yet, but usually that happens right before shipping.

Not getting my hopes up. I am fully expecting to get a email telling me the order is cancelled.
 
Just a heads up, if you’re on the 5GB single smartphone plan, you might have trouble purchasing the X. I did a trial run with the 8 plus and kept getting prompted to change my plan, but it would not allow this.

I had to change my plan to a larger (smaller will not allow you to change immediately) and select (from beginning of billing cycle) in order to get the change to go through immediately. This allowed me to go through to the final page of purchasing.

Call Verizon CS before Pre-Orders Start and have them review your plan. It should not do that, Call them Now.

I gave it a try also and it did the same thing to me. But I'm on the original grand fathered unlimited data, not the 5 GB. so they must be trying to force everyone to the new plans. It seems the only way to keep my original unlimited data is to buy the phone out right. Last year I was able to keep my plan and switch to the new iPhone on verizon 24 month payment plan..


but i don't see any benefit anymore to keeping my unlimited when they have the new unlimited plans
 
So now I’m stuck with a 64gb. But the order went through and shows pending in the Purchases menu.
Curious, what do you need the 256 for? I’ve currently got a 64 and am down to about 8 left, but have about 20 gigs of games and music I don’t use. Tho, I’m wondering for 50 per 64 gig block and potentially faster Store age and peace of mind would be worthwhile.

They throttle the new plans, right? Isn’t the old unlimited only 30 per month? Also, I think there’s 2 unlimited plans and you have to pay 10 extra for hd streams.

Not sure about the throttling. I remember hearing they wanted to do that to the grand fathered accounts but to people who use ALOT of data, i normally use 30 which is high but not super high like some people

What’re you doing with all that data?

Some of us need storage. I could easily fill a 64gb iPhone in minutes with just my apps, Once I add all of my music, pics, and podcasts I need a 256gb iPhone so its why I alway get the largest capacity iPhone.

I am on this plan and made it (in the Verizon app) all the way to the “Time to review your cart” page, where the next button says “Checkout.” I was afraid to go further in case it would actually order the 8 Plus I was testing. Is there another page after that one?

Ok. I think I would probably use more f I had more. I know I had a 32GB 2017 ipad and after returning for a 128 9.7 Pro, I felt MUCH less stressed about installing apps or storing media. Also, if you have 64 gigs of apps, please post a list or screenshot of the best ones! That would load my phone up and help justify the 256 x, lol! Honestly and I know this sounds silly, but the thought of having a phone with slower NAND would bite at me for the two years I have it. ;)

Just the site via an iPad. I’m not sure what would happen on the app as I’ve already switched plans.

On the site via the iPad, I would get redirected after opting to change the plan. Instead of gong to the next page, it would send me back to the iPhone 8 page. You might be good to go with the app then, but why risk it?

I stream radio stations and youtube for 8 hours while I'm at work

I have to update more than one line for my family. Do you think I should just do my upgrade alone on the app and then go back and upgrade 2 more lines separately? Through the app I don't think there is an option to do multiple upgrades.

I have to do the same, but I'm going to be completely selfish and go for mine, then go back for theirs, I'm trying my hardest for a November date on mine at least, they don't care really when they get it lol

Were you trying to use Verizon's 300.00 trade in deal? That deal requires you to be on one of their unlimited plans. If you don't use that promo, you should be able to keep your current plan.
 
I can't believe I missed the loophole today through the app! I went through the steps that got me to the "Select Smartphones" screen during the upgrade process, just going to leave it at this then press "View" on the iPhone X when it goes live...should save time if this goes correctly.

I went for the 8 Plus, but I’ll be rooting for you and living vicariously through you all through this.

Verizon’s app is ridiculously easy to navigate. Just make sure your plan is good, your payments are up to date, you’re really upgrade eligible, your credit card is good to go, your shipping address matches. If you can pre-populate any info, even better. Most importantly, stay calm and work your purchase whatever way is best for you! I’ve seen people mess up entering information and then have to start over or have orders cancelled later.

Damn what happened dude?
Initially I switched my plan over to a smaller data plan. So I had to call and hey cancelled that change. Then I paid up to the 12 month mark on the line I wanted to upgrade. But it won’t give me the option to upgrade on the app but two reps now have told me that they are all good on their end. So they suggested I chat in and they will do the order for me. I’m so bummed out.
 
I just received a call from local VZW retailer. He kept my name and number from my visit earlier this month. He said he is ordering at midnight and wanted to know if I was still interested. Well now I’m not but I thought I would share what’s going on.

When ordering through Verizon, does anyone know if you have to have a credit card on file? I have my checking account linked to pay my bills with, I'm assuming that would be a valid payment method for the preorder, too?
