I miss Steve Jobs so much. Sure, Tim brought Apple Silicon and Swift, but that's pretty much behind the scenes stuff. Steve brought the iMac, iPod, and iPhone which were way more "Wow!" customer-oriented things. Plus, Steve was way more of a showman/marketeer, while Tim's… well, boring. I'll give Tim his credit due, it's amazing to go from what? a $300-some odd billion company to a $3 trillion one? That speaks a lot. Not gonna lie.
That’s nice for investors…

How does the customer/public benefit from this increase in valuation? There is no “soul” in being the steward of a company that was already on an upward trajectory.

Apple doesn’t skate where the puck is going any more. People need to stop apologizing for that and just admit and accept it as the new reality.

Apple has been promising to make Siri smarter for years. It’s currently the dumbest B on the planet.

It's 2024 and it took 14 years and ChatGPT for Apple Exec's to realize this?

...
This is exactly why competition is good. So many on here fantasize about Apple "crushing" all competitors. Had they done so, we would be stuck using the equivalent of iPhone 5 tech whilst paying $1500 for it. I just wish it was on useful stuff and not marketing BS such as AI.

It is the end of 2024 and Siri still cannot turn on the lights for me properly at home. How hard is that?
My favorite is trying a siri command while standing next to the homepod, and then Siri activates on my iPhone across the room (which is far slower to turn on the lights than Homepod Siri for some reason)

Is it just me or did no one else find the title and article confusing?

Title: "These Apple Intelligence Features Aren't Coming Until 2025"
Article: Immediately proceeds to list everything we've received so far in the .1 and .2 updates.

I was very confused and was starting to think I missed the memo that Apple pulled everything. The "real" article is a small section towards the end.

Not alone. I was confused as well.

Ugh. Image Playground? Genmoji? Writing tools? Let me use the damn Apple Pencil on my 6.9" phone screen. Increase optical zoom. They better focus more on hardware innovation - keeping iPhone users from switching to Android isn't hard but if a lot more users start keeping their old iPhones for longer it'll really hurt them. The iPhone revenue train is already slowing down. If they want to write software, we all know there's a laundry list of bugs to fix in iOS and MacOS.

Am I going to be able to ask my phone to do things like "Siri, turn off my TV in 10 mins." Siri, turn notifications off for WhatsAPP until 1pm tomorrow" etc?

THIS is the kind of stuff I expect Apple Intelligence to do and it makes sense. If Apple is adding AI to the iPhone, I should be able to ask it about and to do anything on the iPhone and have it do it.

Also, with this update, I don't want to ever hear "This is what I found on the web for [insert siri request here]". This should be gone unless I actually ask it to search on the web for something.

Considering Apple showed Siri doing things like this in the very first commercials for it, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yes, those are exactly the kind of things you're supposed to be able to do with new Siri. I really hope they don't boggle it this time.

But just think about the Samuel L Jackson commercial talking to Siri about gezpacho. Or the one with Zoey Deschanel (I'm butchering spellings here) talking to it about the rain.

People have documented their attempts to replicate those ever since then and it has never worked.

So yes I really, really hope it actually does what they say this time. But they live in such a fantasy world about Siri, I'm waiting to be pleasantly surprised.

just got Apple Intelligence on both of my M series Macs, even though I’m not in the supported country… Not getting it for my iPhone 15 Pro. I haven’t done any language region changes . It works, but partially— for example, iPhone mirroring is not working.
