Negativity is an emotional, rather than a factual statement. There is no emotion in this thread, just a list of facts regarding what is and isn't.

"IOS doesn't allow for x,y,z" is not negative. It's factual.
lol....ok...then there is a lot of negativity in the way some view and express the facts.....or at least the facts as they see them.

Any place but here or there....
Wow. I do not see anything negative in this thread. Just facts and actual usage.

Making me wonder if I should rejoin Twitter for a chance to win a Note 8. I am glad the alternatives to iOS and Mac threads exist so if I want to leave Apple, there are folks here with experience who can answer questions and post threads like this.

Never knew about many of these features, thank you! :)

One of my biggest beefs, and many concur, is the mess that is the notification system on iOS. I'm not saying copy Android, but you have to admit the way Android handles notifications, for calls, texts, emails, sports scores, etc...is so much smarter, compared to the jumbled mess on the iPhone.

I was shocked last June, that a revamped notification system wasn't even mentioned as a priority for iOS 11.

If Apple can redo notifications in iOS 12 and maybe add a Theme engine. I'd go back immediately and Android would lose sales.

It looks to me like the threads intent is negative and some of the things listed aren't aspects of Android they're aspects of Samsung and Touch-wiz. This thread also reinforces on this board that Samsung = Android which isn't the case in the slightest. Of all the things listed none are deal breakers to me unless I needed to SSH from my phone, yet Samsung itself is a deal breaker to me. We lost MRU because of this spy vs spy stuff let's not lose anymore contributers because of it.

Is it because you dislike Touchwiz?

I'm no Samsung fan myself whatsoever everything I've posted are my experiences with stock Android devices or even my LG v30.

I do like the iPhone X it's a great phone but iOS 11 just isn't my cup of tea, and I know Apple could make the OS much better.

All the Pixel 2 XL needed was a Samsung panel. It would have been a top tier Android phone. The display is the only weakness of that phone.

What does Samsung have to do with anything? My favorite devices right now are the $50 Huawei Ascend XT2 and $85 2017 Amazon Fire HD10 32GB that was gifted to me. Still testing out Nvidia Shield TV and 2017 Amazon Fire TV stick but they're also potential favorites.

Back to the thread...

FM radio. Ideal for receiving emergency broadcasts.

Bigger battery with longer screen-on time plus idle time. Apple has a different approach of using smaller more profitable batteries and limiting background multitasking to 3 minutes to stretch out idle time but with poorer screen-on time.

Truly default ? Even when replying to a text from the lock screen using 3D Touch ? That pissed me off so much, when it wouldn't be the Gboard I set as default, but instead was the Apple keyboard. Like WTF ?

When I had the iPhone 7 Plus I used the Google GBoard, but certain instances the stock iPhone keyboard was forced onto me like when entering passcode or replying to a text from the lock screen.

My point I couldn't have the Gboard used 100% all the time every time, it was more like 90%. I want to set and use it 100% and never see the stock Apple keyboard ever again, but on iOS 10 they wasn't possible.
This is partly solved on the iPhone X, since its unlocked as soon as you have face ID.

I like this thread because I’ve been considering switching to android to give it a shot. Been an iPhone user for many years now and apples system is getting very old and boring. The only problem is I have quite a few apple products that would be disconnected if I got rid of my iPhones. Any experience with this?

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid the divisiveness and just make this a wishlist.

iPhone needs more sophisticated cellular data usage management out of the box. It should provide a lot more data.
What data are you looking for?

There should be a program by which developers can register to be a replacement for the default apps on iPhone.

That way, you can have the security of verified defaults without necessarily ruining the user experience by letting any app run amok with the defaults.

It's funny this thread all of us Android people saying what we'd like to see in iOS to make the iPhone better and I'm a lifelong Android Nexus nerd but I'm actually thinking I'm getting an iPhone X maybe just to switch it up for a change.

But then not sure if one week later I would regret that decision?

Never attempt to switch, it is a point of no return.

Ooh. Where to start?

* File system. Quite how IOS users put up with IOS files is a mystery to me. It is a damn phone. Why cant i transfer and manage my own files on IOS?

*NFC.

*fast charge out.of.the.box.

*Multi tasking.

*Use Cloud services without $$$$$
Why so emotional over a phone? I thought the facts weren't emotional? You sound pretty emotional about how you feel about your "facts"

Samsung aspects should be considered "what you can do on Android" cause that's apart of what Android is about. The majority of Android users are non vanilla users.

The problem is if when Samsung = Android people will think for example that pen input is part of Android when it's not so if I buy a nice LG/HTC/Moto I might expect pen input. Samsung adds a lot to Android to differentiate it from the crowd that you'd not think that Touch-wiz is Android unless your told. Most if the OP's bullet points are Samsung specific functionality. This thread would be better titled the things my Note can do that iPhone and Android cannot.

I'm the exact opposite of you, somebody who's basically used pretty much iOS only. I've dabbled in Android a couple of times but usually don't last longer than 1-3 months before I return to an iPhone.

I tried with the Nexus 6P and only made it a week, but I had bluetooth issues and issues with the device switching from LTE to 3G on Verizon. Only fix was to go to airplane mode and it re-established the LTE connection.

The Pixel 1 I used for probably 2-3 months, had several issues which I've documented in the Pixel 1 thread on here. Mostly was microphone issues and charging issues. Plus I think losing iMessage bothered me as well.

The Pixel 2 I have used now for about 5-6 weeks and returning to an iPhone. I don't like how I have to maintain both an Android Gallery and Google Photos since for some reason Google Photos doesn't keep my albums intact between the Android Gallery and the Google Photos app. I use Slidebox to manage my gallery on the phone because it's easier to see what photos are "uncategorized". Also, really missing out on iMessage group chats in my family. At least this time I'm not having any hardware issues.

I'd be curious if the iPhone X would be the iPhone to keep you on iOS but at the end of the day, it's still iOS and it's still Apple, so who knows.

Samsung aspects should be considered "what you can do on Android" cause that's apart of what Android is about. The majority of Android users are non vanilla users.
I really like what Samsung does and offers, however, their devices are not for me. I'd constantly tinker with a Samsung device due to all the theming options and different settings that it would be way too overwhelming. But for those who appreciate that, a Samsung device is an excellent choice.
