Compare yes, but this thread is just a pissing match.

It's suppose to be a pissing match, their just smartphones. The same way Apple, Samsung, and etc, markets their devices. "The fastest this, first of that, biggest this, most of that". I personally wouldn't want it any other way, cause we wouldn't see this rate of advancement otherwise.

I think the bigger issue is some users can't keep their personal feelings in check.

Things can compete without being a pissing match.

Edit: This thread is the equivalent of “my dad can beat up your dad”

This is incorrect. Tech enthusiasts are very particular about how they use their stuff and what they *need* to do, and how they want it to do it. In example: the top tier Android devices all pretty much perform the same functions, even adopting the same gimmicks. The V30 now mimics the Note's SPen capabilities just without the SPen, in example. However, tech enthusiasts will not approach the devices the same way. Some will prefer the TW UI, some will prefer the wide angle lens on the V30's camera to the Note's zoom. Stock Android on the 5T is not the same experience as the Pixel but it's still stock, but people will have their preferences. It is not objective fact that the Note 8 is better than the V30 and vice versa, same with the 5T and the Pixel, as two examples. Thus that is the definition of deciding between the two based on what works best for the individual.

To make my self more clear .... I'm speaking more on discussing about devices. None of us have every single device that we discuss on.

Yea, but smartphones are not people. ;)

People have the same discussion about cars, computers(and parts), game consoles, and etc.

It's seems everybody only gets holy when comparing advantages over the iPhone.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here...?

It would seem to be the hardcore Android folks, quite honestly. You have an entire sub forum dedicated to discussing Android devices, and virtually every thread is laced with obsessing over the iPhone, like this one.

It's 2017. I'm not sure what the benefit is to compare and contrast Android devices to an iPhone is other than to make people feel good about their own purchasing decisions. People are quite familiar with what they like and don't like. Going back to your tech enthusiasts argument, you're telling me the folks here who obsess over their phones (myself included) are suddenly unfamiliar with the differences between Android and iOS?

This is just an exercise in Android people wasting bandwidth on telling iPhone people their device sucks.

I’ll get annoyed after a while of any “my slab of glass and metal is better than yours” type of discussions when it becomes obvious that they’re going nowhere.

But you had no problem adding to the "Things you can't do on Android" thread. ;)

Overall, I notice nobody has issues with specific Android phone advantages against another Android phone. The same with iPhone advantages over Android. But speak on anything having advantages over the iPhone, and all of the sudden the thread is labeled as a pissing match.

.
That does seem to be the case.....I have been here for a long time and have a ton of posts to my name as a little context. I typically have 14 to 16 phones a year....although I will probably slow down next year as technology in smartphones is getting really similar.
But....back to the point....people don't seem to care about the apple apologists that are constantly trolling these threads.....or the out right trolls here. But complain about the iphone and it seems to bring out the ire in folks. I do realize we are on an Apple centric site. But this is a subsection for alternative to apple devices.

I think it is great to compare what one phone can do that another can't....but we should always keep an open mind asn be aware that phone that "sucks" for me.....might be the perfect phone for someone else.

Because I don’t think that thread has gone off the rails yet. It will eventually, and I’ll stop posting to it.

The only reason this thread has any inclination to go off the rails is due to saltiness.

The other thread is the same but there's no one over there doing that.
There's a double standard going on here.....

The amount of direct hostility Android gets on this forum is hilarious yet we have people being salty about what Android/iOS can/cannot do.
It's black and white, they either can or can't, it's not honor....

Along with what you have already mentioned .......... Using the Note 8

Call Recording ... This is invaluable for me. Sometimes I forget something that was told to me after a call, like the details to an appointment, location, and etc. It's great that I can use an automatic call recording app to replay the conversation. I use the ACR app. The iPhone doesn't have a true call recorder app.

Always On Display ... For the past several Samsung devices, I've been spoiled by this. I don't plan on getting future flagship phones without it. So if Apple doesn't implement it with the X Plus next year, then I'm passing on it.

Don't really use this much. Maybe I need too....

Split Screen Multitasking ... Yup I actually use this often. And it's a shame Apple doesn't implement this for at least the plus model iPhones.

Dual Audio Bluetooth ... Works great, and both BT speakers will be in sync as long as they are the same BT version.

Haven't tried this. How does it work exactly?

Dual Messenger ... Let's me use the same messenger app without using secure folder. I use this with Whatsapp.

How does this work? You're saying you can text from what's app and stock texting in the same interface?

Separate App sound ... I can play audio on a BT speaker and listen to a separate audio from the phone's speaker.

Another thing I'll ask how to as well...

Taskers ... I use MacroDroid.

Change System Fonts

Oh yea ... almost forgot ... Gear VR and DayDream

I hope you're not buying all those phones. That would be a huge waste of money.

These posts always perplex me on a computer forum. Can't believe people have the nerve to tell people how to spend their own money.

Do you go to the car thread to criticize people as well?

I could buy a really nice GTI and yet I don't.

I'm 30 today lol. I had a used A4 and switched to a new one earlier this year
There’s no way I’d buy a used R. People don’t buy them to do 20mph to the store. So had to be new and I got the options I wanted too.

Good luck with the RS3! Super stunning and exceptionally quick!

love the German engineering.
Being an Engineer, I would like to know what your definition of the so called engineering is in fact German and your allusion that it be considered being better.

Android's openness is very limited for the most part. One example is this article from history, many things that the article touched on is still valid.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...ntrolling-open-source-by-any-means-necessary/

One definition of Android being closed, Android is not open enough to install the 'Vanilla' version of Android OS on any Android device.

I don't do emulators anymore but it's there for Android if I wanted. As a multimedia device, Androids slaughter iPhones in versatility.

I could also check my RAM usage and put useful settings apps like this -

Notification Toggle
Screen Off & Lock
All-In-One Toolbox
Greenify

My two favorite apps of all-time also appear on Android -

Nova Launcher Prime
SwiftKey

SwiftKey is ok on iOS and I do use it over iOS' default keyboard but still doesn't compare to the robustness vs Android's.

Split screen. I wish I could use smart lock, but as my phone is connected to work Exchange, Smart Lock has been disabled by policy.

is it a company phone? if so, can't help. if it's yours, remove it from your IT's exchange policy and simply use OWE via a browser. works seamlessly on mine for both email and calendar. Use google for your contacts as there's no need to keep them on your company server.

We have a Note 8 thread. But instead of writing a post extolling the virtues of a favorite device, we needed yet another iteration of “I hate Apple more than I enjoy anything I own.” And yeah, I could ignore the thread but as a community member I feel I’m entitled to say my peace. This thread is designed to troll. Period.

I don't see it that way at all. I used to know the differences of what could be done on Android vs iOS but have since not cared for some time. This thread has brought up many of those points for me and others interested to once again brush up on the differences. If it's a troll thread in your eyes then move on and don't reply or even read it. Otherwise, many here enjoying seeing the differences.
