Until RCS is supported by all carriers and device manufacturers (or messaging app developers), cross-platform media sharing WILL be a problem.

I don't think that's in carriers best interest, unless there's a guarantee that consumers that switch from iPhones, will switch to an expensive Android flagship.

If there is a lack of need for iMessage, then there will be an influx of consumers that will switch to Android. Carriers don't want to risk switchers choosing an Android device that is hundreds of dollars cheaper. That will affect the money they make on financing and in-store accessories that mostly cater to flagship models.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple already had that conversation with carriers.

Except there is a long list of carriers on board with RCS, including all the major carriers in the US. Exclusive: Chat is Google’s next big fix for Android’s messaging mess - The Verge

Android doesn't have Apple A11 Supercomputer performance.

Fortnite on iPhone X.

Galaxy Note 9 for comparison.

Synthetic. I have both. Even my Essential SD835 loads apps and is smoother performance than my iPhone X. Maybe more RAM is why? Or games and GPU performance (I never use any).

Are you saying these peeps are bad ios coders?
for Fortnite....the performance on the iPhone X and Note 9 are night and day.
On the X it lags and is slow. On the Note 9 it is blazing fast and never lags. I know thats just one game but that is my real life experience.

Is there an Android phone that gets updates day of release? I know some think the Pixels do, but Google sends it out in waves and it could be weeks if you’re unlucky.

That’s something Google still needs to work on.

Essential.

I, too, like to buy a phone from a company that might not be around within a few months.

Live in the present, and you may be rewarded in the future.

Idk either. All I know is that, at least for now, Essential Products is a very real example of a company excelling at customer service. See https://www.reddit.com/r/essential/ for evidence if you don't believe me.

That's your choice, but the Eesential phone may be the most beautiful smartphone design ever, and the support they offer is fantastic. Per the September Q&A, it'll be getting the Android Q update as well as security patches through 2020.

@Michael Goff

This is another big plus. Name one other phone hardware company, tech company in general even, that consistently holds monthly Q&A sessions for the public to speak directly to engineers.

These threads are always super weird because Android can basically do whatever you want it to do but iPhone has a ton of plusses that most phones simply don't have.

The best thing iOS has that most android don't have is Apple hardware.

Send an iMessage with your android phone...I'll wait...

But to be honest...they have to do that right now. They are on the brink of being no more. They let the public have that kind of access to the engineers to get feedback and sort of do some beta testing for them.
If Essential were to take off sales wise and grow as a company....I'll wager they will stop doing that altogether.
They are small and agile right now. So they can afford to get up close and personal with consumers.

Think something like this makes Android/Galaxy so much more useful than ios

Please just take it easy on them. You have to remember, they
will not understand this until Tim Cook and Phil Schiller, tells
them it's useful.

They didn't need anything bigger than a 3.5inch display until
they were told it was fine by Apple
They were told a notch that ruins the immersiveness of a
display was fine, they were told replacing a 3.5mm jack with
a dongle that has a 3.5mmjack was fine to "save space" .

Heck, they were once told they were holding their phones
wrong, and they accepted it
By the way that last one may just happen again going by
this:
