I've given this some more thought.
This my childhood dream since 1959, still a head turner after 50 years:cool:

I must be the only person who doesn't find her even the slightest, remotest bit attractive, and never have...from what I've heard, she's quite a bitch in person to boot.

I've never met her, nor been anywhere near her or those that know her. But from my limited exposure to watching her on TV talk shows once in a while, she appears to me as a genuine sweetheart.

But without knowing her personally, I'll refrain from passing judgment on her based on speculation and hearsay; I'll grant her, and anyone for that matter, the benefit of doubt that she's a decent person, until she proves to me otherwise.

You know how? Just because you've met her doesn't mean anything.

It means more than what you're saying.

I've met her. Chatted with her. I know people that know her. They have nice things to say about her.

You're believing rumors that you've "heard" over a first hand account from someone? That totally makes sense.

Anyway, I don't care. Think what you want. It's not like I'm her agent or manager.....

I would have a house the over looks the track. I don't even care if I don't have a garage filled with nice cars. Two wheels or four, I'll find something to go around the track with. A 24/7 safety crew would be nice though.

I want one of these for my home office lounging chair:

Don't think I'm going to cough up the $4k for a "genuine" Herman Miller one though. I've found an excellent reproduction that gets great reviews for around $1k, probably going with that.

great reviews or not, you'd still be buying a $1k knockoff though

i say do yourself a favor and go all the way or don't go there at all

I agree completely. Mid Century Modern furniture is expensive because it is built to last this long, and is of the best quality and appeal.

Most reproductions can not match the level of quality in the original. Besides, if you can save $1k, you might as well wait a little longer and save for the better one.

I agree, to an extent. If the materials and workmanship ARE indeed comparable, there is no reason a "casual user" would need to buy an original.

Nonetheless, if you're buying this sort of furniture, it's also an investment. A genuine example, if kept in good condition, will hold its value. Heck, even average condition specimens still go for a great deal. I recently came across an old, kinda beat-up Saarinen tulip chair selling for 80% the cost of the new one from Knoll.

I struggled with this question when I bought my Eames lounge chair.

Then I sat in a knock-off at a hotel and it was crap.

That made the decision a lot easier. I suspect not all knock-offs are created equal, of course.
