Last year they got a pass because they were new and had growing pains. Now they had a year to sort their business out and came back to the table with the same problems. Now the flagship killer is not so much anymore spec wise. I see them fading into a black hole the next couple of years. Or morph into a flash sale overseas product only.Short and sweet.
I'm almost certain I'll sell mine in a week or two. Aside from camera niggles, I miss split screen apps and fast charging a lot amongst other features.
I never thought I'd be that bothered but if I forget to charge overnight, I'm screwed for the next day as 20 minutes will only get about 15% top up. Then it's portable charger time or leaving it on the desk and being away from it. And it charges mega slow if the screen is on.
So, this supposed mid-September update needs to be outstanding or it'll be to the kerb.
After the operational cockups this time, I sense people losing faith in OnePlus and will just simply go Moto or elsewhere next time.
Yeah, if they trot out the Flagship killer next year I'll be very surprised. No way you can spec a phone to rival the heavy hitters and sell it for less than half... unless you wanna make a loss. Then again, maybe they are that ignorant and stupid.Last year they got a pass because they were new and had growing pains. Wow... after researching, there is little to no reason to get this over the new Moto X.
Going to pass on that invite...
But... He said sorry... Alot.skipped the invite... pei can #gtfo with this junk... not going to order it.
Got mine of friday. Not a bad phone. Solid hardware but software can be twitchy sometimes. Its probably the best bang for buck smartphone in the UK...if you can get one. Followed by the Moto X Play.
Lack of NFC no big for me. USB-C a mild annoyance. Shame it doesn't work with my headunit but i feared as much...AUX cable instead.
Probably won't be keeping it but i don't hate the device from my experiences thus far. And it is superior to the original OPO IMHO.
In typical OPO fashion...got a notice last night that my OPO2 will be delivered today by DHL.
Didn't get any other notice from them about shipping or anything from OPO just from DHL.
Ordered on Sept 2nd and delivered on Sept 11th.
Sorry! I like the phone it has great build quality and fit and finish.jamezr, what are your thoughts on the phone? I've been waiting for days to see a post! ha.
Sorry! I like the phone it has great build quality and fit and finish.
I like OxygenOS and think it has potential. No bloat or carrier software of course. It is like stock Android but more like CyanogenMod tbh.
I ordered the US version and it came with a dual sim. Not really sure why. Thought that was just for overseas markets.
The phone is very fast and fluid....can't beat it for the price.
I do think the camera is slow to focus. But the pictures are very nice.
Overall speed and performance is up there with most flagship phones.
I haven't had any lag or stutters.
I haven't tested the fingerprint scanner yet.
A major thing for me is Fast Charging. I can go to sleep and for get to charge my Note 4 at 30% battery, wake up the next morning, realise my error, put it on charge while I get ready, and within 45min to an hour of charging its at 100% and ready for the day. Same with if I have had a long day and plan on going out that nite, get home, my Note 4 is at like 60%, but I want a full charge as I may take many pics, vids and use it for Uber, so I put it on charge for like 20mins and its at 100% by the time I leave.Honestly not a bad phone in the slightest. Is it perfect? No. But it offers immense bang for your buck at $389 for 4GB of RAM, solid cameras, powerful processor, excellent build quality, beautiful screen. The biggest flaw is getting an invite (and the lack of NFC if you're into that).
The invitation type system would make more sense if they were selling a luxury phone with sapphire glass, all types of leather trim, custom engraving and so on, but they aren't.Looks like Pei shot himself in the foot once again. I think the invitation system is aggravating as it is, couple that with poor product planning, i.e., inventory and it just pours salt in the wound.
I can see using the invitation system for an initial rollout but this is the second phone, they should know how to estimate demand at this point.
This was probably my biggest miss rather than NFC. Once you've had fast charging, it's very difficult to go back. Often I have 10-15 minutes and it did next to nothing on the OP2.A major thing for me is Fast Charging. IMO, the lack of fast charging is a major omission.
Couldn't agree more. This is a team that used to work for Oppo, albeit in a different capacity, and who now uses Oppo's production facilities.Looks like Pei shot himself in the foot once again. Since they are using SnapDragon for the device, is the quick charge 2.0 feature set there just not enabled? Or are they using an alternate charging IC?
Yeah that is a serious bummer. It appears to be a hardware difference hence can not be added via software update unfortunately.
