Just for kicks, I decided to try those questions in Google Now. It did a pretty good job.

Google now does well with directions. It used to allow me to link that direction search to Waze, but recently I don't see that option anymore. Does anyone know how to get that back? I prefer Waze over Google maps.

In settings go to apps. Find google maps scroll down and clear defaults. When you navigate again you will be prompted to choose default app.

Got the 5.0.1 update on my M7 GPE on Friday. The overall experience on a phone is way better than on my N7, but IMHO it still lacks a coherent "feeling"... I'm pretty sure I won't buy one of the current or upcoming Nexus devices, or any other android phone/tablet. That's kinda sad.

There is no Android 5.1. There is a 5.0.1, but that's just a small bug fix from 5.0, and yes it does have the "double pull down"/two finger pull down notification menu.

Thanks for correcting my mistake, I was trying a new keyboard on my iPhone 6 Plus (nintype) and rushing. I meant to type 5.0.1 :)

Well, did the exact same searches using Siri without incident, both successful on the first try. Maybe Lloyd had a flaky data connection during his requests.

Note: I have three images because for the directions request, unlike Google Now, Siri takes you immediately into Maps upon completion of the request.

Google Now does it a different way, but still immediately provides you with the directions. Google will show you a choice of route and allow you to choose the one you'd like. It also shows the directions for both routes, on the same results screen. From there, you can navigate the one you choose.

Yup, Maps does the same--you can see the alternate route options right in lighter blue right on the map. Touch each to get relevant info and then start your navigation for your preferred route.

Wasn't trying to say the one is better than the other, only that I'd guess Lloyd was having some connectivity issues using Siri as both requests went through very quickly for me and didn't require multiple attempts.

I understand you. Like you, I don't think one does it better than the other in that regard either.

Well, actually, I generally use Google Maps for any locations searches, POI, etc because I don't think anyone would disagree that it's the better app. I do however stick to Apple's Maps for navigation as I think it works a bit better on the iPhone and thankfully for me, it's apparently quite accurate here in Tampa (so far ;)).

But in regards to Google Now, I'm a big fan of it, still use it on my iPhone for the curated info it offers.

I would love to give an opinion on Lollipop, but I guess Google doesn't really get on the ball with sending out the update to Nexus tablets. I'm STILL waiting.

Wow, really? Which version? I picked up a Nexus 7 (2013) for my wife last month and my patience lasted all of a day before I decided to just manually install the published image from Google. It's really fairly simple, should give it a go.

Hell, my LG G Pad 8.3 GPE received its update over a week ago. What's going on over at Google?

I was on a trip to Michigan this week and had to go to a dinner being held at a church. I had both my iPhone 6 and Nexus 5 with me and decided to try Siri for the directions. I tried all of the following:

"Siri, take me to Union Church in Quincy, Michigan."
"Take me to Union Church in Quincy, Miching."
"Where is Union Church in Quincy, Michigan"
And several other variations.

Siri's response? 'I'm sorry, I can't help you with that right now. I had to give the address for Siri to find it. I was annoyed at how limited Siri's cognitive abilities are compared to Google Now/Search.

I just did the first one - from Carrollton, TX. Got directions no problem on the first try.

Cell reception issue perhaps?

Edit: It would take my 15 hours 40 minutes to get there by the way ;)

I do find the lack of a battery percentage (I remember hearing there is a way to get that back) annoying on the home screen. I don't like the dropdown menu, it seems, I will have to double check, that rotation lock has disappeared from the dropdown.

Yeah, the quick settings are dynamic, so apparently if you don't use a feature enough the OS will hide it, with no obvious way to get it back.

This is an interesting feature, although a sometimes annoying one.

As you say, there's no control over it. It's a bit frustrating when they edit it and suddenly your Flashlight quick setting, for example, isn't in the same place it was before, so in some ways, you have to re-learn where it is.

I don't see why Google doesn't just let us customize it (ala TouchWiz or Sony's quick setting setup). Seems very un-Google like and more Apple-like (I also dislike that I can't customize my Control Center on my iPh 6).

I've had it on my Nexus 4 for about two weeks now but still not on my 2012 Nexus 7.

I'll keep waiting. I don't want to lose anything on my Nexus 7 and I don't feel comfortable upgrading it any other way.

I have the 2013 Nexus 7 wifi only. And it seems that having a Nexus in order to get updates first has gone by the wayside.

Yep I tried it too and it understood me straight away (Union church of Quincy, Michigan), opened maps immediately. However as I'm across the Atlantic it couldn't find an appropriate route.

Haha, stupid Apple Maps. I can't believe they don't include well-known sailing routes across the Atlantic or a schedule of the next passenger ship leaving for the Americas! :p

Gs 4 GPE finally got its lollipop update last night.
The OTA and updating process took much longer than usual, but it is running great.
Love the lock screen notifications finally.
Very smooth, digging the card style multitasking. Have had no crashing at all, at least yet, which is cool considering this is just 5.0.0 and not even 5.0.1 damn Samsung :-/ have to say I'm pleased though. Rooting was no problem and everything is good to go!

Have yet to tinker with new camera api
