I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
Thoughts on Android Lollipop?

Pretty sure the google play music notification has always worked this way. The only difference now is that notifications are on the lock screen.

I don't really find it confusing but that's probably because I use the app every day.

That's just it. Music player notifications make no sense when we already have lock screen controls for the music player. The way it use to work was that the controls (all of them) would appear on the lock screen. Now it has become an actual pop up notification that must be manipulated to reveal all the controls.

IMO, the music player is not something we need to be alerted to like a text notification. Why do I need a pop up notification? I know the music is playing, I was the one who started it. When the lock screen is visible, I just need all the controls to be shown. I honestly believe Google implemented it like that just for cohesion and unity but at the expense of simple functionality.

a better place
Expansys. Its the LG-D281 (International model)

Its funny my Moto X got Lollipop quickly and here a Nexus device is struggling.

*sigh* oh Android...

Yeah my Moto X never got the OTA when others did so I had to flash the update myself.

It is frustrating, we buy these stock type devices to benefit from the quick updates, so it adds to the frustration when there is an inexplicable delay....

Yeah. I bought the N5 because i wanted a cheaper Android device with guaranteed updates. Yet the Moto X is putting it to shame. Might just stick with the Moto and call it a day.

Got a white 32GB Nexus 5 today. It came with Android 4.4.2 OTB. Updated to 4.4.4 but thats where it stops. It doesn't see the Lollipop update and keeps saying my device is up to date.

You might want to wait for a few days as Google rolls out the update region by region. I have Nexus 5 and it has been already updated to 5.0.1 four days ago. OTH, you can flash its factory image since yours is relatively 'brand new'.

Yeah i might have to flash it but thats just annoying. Its Dec its a Nexus device it should be getting Lollipop automatically.

EDIT: Done. Phew. But i was reminded about why i absolutely loath flashing ROMs. But yeah...now running 5.0.1 and restoring backup.

Lollipop is what is going to make android have a way better reputation. It's so fluid and buttery smooth. It really cannot be compared to previous android version. Android is not the buggy glitchy os that people thought they were a few years ago. Android has really evolved over the years. And Lollipop is really nice.

Funny how my 2013 Moto X is still sitting on 4.4.4 and barely got that a month ago. Meanwhile, I've had my Nexus 5 on 5.0.1 for nearly a month. Nexus devices are the most easily updated devices on the planet and are the first to get updates, as long as you are willing to download the factory image and install it yourself (this is why I bought a Nexus device!)

If you choose not to do this, then wait for the OTA to hit your region/carrier like other regular consumers. Or keep using your Moto X. I'm sure it will get 5.0.2 sometime in 2015 now that Lenovo controls Motorola. Good luck to you.
