My recommendation? Get one and try it. I got my Ultra with the Yellow Ocean band and also got the Orange Alpine band and Startlight. After 1 day wearing the Ultra with the Orange Alpine, I found it very uncomfortable and annoying. I run and bike a lot and wearing the Alpine band in direct contact with your skin, after a few hours gets very uncomfortable. I returned both Alpine bands and got another Ocean in white. The Ocean band is the perfect band for me.

This YouTube unboxing also makes it look more appealing to me.

Huh, in that video he has the band on the way I did at first. I found it much easier to take on and off when I reversed the band. IOW, in the video he would pull away to tighten, while when reversed you pull in to tighten.

Regardless, while I have a trail loop on order, the alpine loop is quite comfortable, and I like the green color.

I love it but as another commenter said I’m kind of in between band sizes I guess. It’s either a bit snug or a bit loose but otherwise it is very comfy and I did sleep with it on as well. Really would love to get the trail loop though.

Same sentiments as the others. I have the green alpine loop and it’s very comfortable. I even mastered how to put in on and off quickly.

The way he has it is the way Apple shows it on pictures and diagrams, but I’m sure either way is fine.

Okay, I opened it and I like it! It’s softer and more comfortable than I was expecting. I also like how the green color creates a slightly distressed look even though it’s not distressed.

I tried the default band orientation first and yeah, I can see how it can take some getting used to. Then, per your suggestion, I swapped it 180° and I can see myself using that too. That orientation allows your thumb to push against the watch body for leverage when you’re pulling the strap back through it, yes.

I find it to be quite comfortable, both night and day. Additionally, I completed a 12 Mile run on Saturday and the Alpine band performed flawlessly!
As a bonus, the nerd in me loves that the band has not stitching on it. Well done Apple!

I love my bands. I originally ordered the Midnight Ocean and was surprised by how comfortable it was. Picked up the Starlight Alpine Loop yesterday and love it too. More challenging to get on / off, but super comfortable once it’s on.

I'm quite satisfied with the Alpine Loop. I originally wanted the Sport Loop but settled on the Alpine Loop because the Sport Loop was not available. Very pleasantly surprised with the Alpine Loop.

Ray at DC Rainmaker was also satisfied with the Alpine Loop. Hi did an in depth review of both the Ultra and a separate review of the bands. People don't reply to the thread and it disappears quickly, so here it is:

I like it and find it very comfortable. I just don’t use it for working out. I prefer silicone bands for that due to sweat

I’m in this camp also. Didn’t like how uneasy it was to put it on with the wrap at the top. Also hated how the wrap looked at the top with that big bubble.

Reversed it. Much easier to put on, bubble on the wrap is better hidden and easier to minimize.

So far I’ve been wearing the ocean band the most. Big, sweaty workouts and showers are better on rubber. Not sure if I will keep Alpine Loop or return it.

Is large the go for a 190mm wrist? Is it more secure than the ocean mainly for surfing?

The Ocean is great to iMo.
